    Sir-Lancelot's Yukon XL - UPDATE 18" ZCONS / 4 GP3k Page 27

Wow. It's good to hear you got your voltage situation sorted out. I am a little curious as to what the problem was and how you got it sorted out exactly, if you don't mind sharing. It would be good to know in case I start having the same issues. Thanks and keep on keeping on.

Thanks. As for the wind, honestly it wasn't bad at all. It's just the dang mic on the camera is super sensitive. Glad you liked it all and thanks. I appreciate you comments about my video capturing skillz. I feel your pain about whipping cameras around, it gets to me too. As for having a preference for either a horn or a ported alignment, I have none. I just figured I try giving this nice equipment some justice and have someone with experience tailor a design for my application. I had fun building the box. I liked the challenge, and since I don't have all the equipment to do a proper job I got to meet some interesting people that helped me out along the way. Mainly the panel saw operators at the local Home Depot and a nosy neighbor with some serious table saw skills. Now that it's running it sounds all the same. At this noise level it's just violent. I guess any alignment properly done shouldn't sound like anything but the music it's reproducing. The response of this design is down to 25Hz. I set the crossover point between the subs and the mid-bass is set at 60hz. Action vids are on the way. LOL!

Thanks for all the kind words fellas. Glad you guys are enjoying the build. Here is a little walk through vid. It's a bit raw and the wind noise is horrific at times so careful with the volume. Hope you guys enjoy. Let me know what you all think.

Finally, I'm back and running. The new alt is in, just had to improvise a bit on the replacement belt. Since I already had a longer belt lying around from my quad alt bracket mis-fit experiment. I opted to use the longer belt with the original idler pulleys the bracket came with. Any who, here is a pic of finished product. Here are some pics of the finished battery rack install. Here is a shot from the front seats looking towards the rear. Got to show the processor and front stage amp some love. Here are some pics of the subs and amp. Lastly, a little bling.

What to tune a box for 2 18" AVAs

Rule of thumb 12-16sqin per cuft. Opps did I fart. If you want to get all scientific and you'll either have to pay someone to model up what ^^^ said or pay for and learn to use some sort of modeling software. You can go with some of the free ware out there but there is still a learning curve you've got to go through. Good luck. Hey are those woofer considered old school yet?

My new hooptie, 1980 CoupeDeville. Bumping on a budget.

That's pretty hardcore work there. I would have guessed you would have needed some sort of tool to keep the cutoff axle tube inline with the existing axle tube while welding. Good job, you make it look easy. I want to try now.

Nick Morgan, We got a serious problem!

Happy birthday Nick. Side note: Intrigued by lack of response on Nick's part, I was surprised to see the reason why in my latest issue of Desktop Engineer. Apparently Nick has been doing a little "modeling". Disclaimer AKA "The Fine Print" (: Just kidding everybody. This was just a random ad I found a little interesting because of the audio oriented engineering going on in the background. Yes I am a subscriber of Desktop Engineer.

Nice, look forward to seeing you there. Looking good Jon. Use a old tee shirt instead of the fleece. The fleece tends to absorb the resin unevenly and will tend to sag. Looks like I'm the only one behind the times and without custom fiberglass pods. Guess it's time to get back in the garage.

Electrical Ignition fault in my car

I'd check main power distribution points, mainly the fuse/relay box. Both under the hood and under the dash. Usually there is a heavy gauge wire that goes from either the battery or the positive side of the starter to the main fuse/relay box. The wire will attach to the underside of the fuse/relay box off of a stud and nut. Double check to make sure it's not loose. Same goes for the fuse box in the vehicle. Good luck. Electrical Gremlins are the worst.

Ouch?! When you say it like that, it does hurt. Yeah, a little lock-tite for the next go-round. Probably be down for the better part of a week and a half. Oh well.

Most definitely. There is actually suppose to be threads on the shaft. A nut a lock-washer hold the pulley in place. No key on the shaft. There is a step on the rotor on the backside of the front bearing. The nut and lock-washer pinch the pulley and bearing against the step on the rotor. There is also a step on the pulley to only press up against the bearing race. Definitely good people. As soon as I'm up and running I get some vids made. Thanks.

UPDATES!!!! What's up everybody? My trusty camera decided to go tits up. I tried the wife's Nikon but I just couldn't get along with it. I've been so looking forward to getting some pics and vids posted of the finished setup. I ordered up a replacement camera and have been waiting patiently. The day has arrived. Keeping true to my build nothing is left undocumented, so here it is: Sh!t happens when you go for broke. Not to worry though, the guys at Tuff Stuff are taking care of it.
