4th Annual Fry's Electronics USACi/Bass Battles Texas Final

Them or Fi. Shop around, shoot some e-mails off, have a little fun. -
Class AB amps are power hungry. Maybe the electrical can handle the added load. I've had similar experience going to bigger amps and not updating the electrical.

Bummer. You know there are other companies that can get you up and running. Quite pussy footing around and get'er done! I just need one recone. BigJon reconed the other one not too long ago and it still looks new. Would I need to recone both if I got it from somewhere else? Naw, just re-cone one. Just let them know you want a re-cone to the original specs. Easy peazzie! -

Lol, I don't. Who's grandma's hands are on it? Yours or mine? Its one of the best reference SQ songs to set your low end to ... Ask Jenisa about it before judging, she will help you tune. She listens to mine before every show ... Sorry Bro ... Just trying to help, best of luck to ya Sir !!! I asked (a lot) the wife won't let go to this one ... Cool, thanks for the CD tip, I def be lookin into it. They are holding a little SQ seminar the day before. I'll be hitting that up as well for some tips and maybe some tuning help. Bummer the spousel unit did not approve your request. It seems now a days without the spousel unit's approval one can chit done in peace and feel good about it. Thanks for the luck. I'm gonna need it, I'm taking the whole family to this one. -
Awe chit it's a skar-gate scandal. Feg be movin files trying to confuse peeps. Like the ol saying goes, "If you can't impress them with your knowledge, baffle them with your B.S."

I couldn't get them to play as loud as the DD in that box. They really need a different box. I'll come up with something better after this show. -

So modest. I bet you're chompin at the chance to go and tear everyone's heads off with that new wall of yours. Truth? I'm a little nervous. This is my first wall. First huge system, and a new car with no real testing time. Bwahahahahaha! Nothing to be nervous about bro. Just turn every knob up to eleven and watch the heads roll. Win, win. See you there. -

Looking good. Congrats on the new sub. With all the equipment you got there lying around looks as if it's time for you to start your build log. Good luck and keep us posted on how everything works out for you. -

Five fucking star build! Nuff said. -
Well fellas I got the setup all buttoned up and finished last night. I did an initial smoke test and everything past. To play it save I turned the gain down a whisker and adjusted the power output from "Full Tilt" to 75%. I popped in my flavor of the month song "World Wide Chopper" by the ever lovable Techn9ne and gave it a whirl. I set the volume on my Alpine at 20 and gave it a listen. I've never been a fan of the intro of this song. The first couple bass hits and the explosion there after sound like crap. It sounded like crap with the DD, and they sound like crap with the JBLs. :\ Following the explosion, there is about 1 minute and 20 seconds worth of higher bass tones, 40-50hz stuff I'd say, but never measured. The tones in the song are in little burst. The JBLs rang them out with authority. Feel it in the back of your head stuff. Output wise they are on par with the DDs. The JBLs really sounded good. There is a slight pause with the bass in the song. Then comes the good stuff, a plethora of lowwww bass tones. I'm guessing stuff in the low 20hz up to mid 30hz. The DDz would shake everything, like grab you by the shoulders and give you a good shaking even at this low level. The JBLs came short of this, I mean you could feel it in the eardrums but not in the seat backs. They got after it, but not in the violent ways that the DDs do. No meter scores to report just yet, but they will be down for sure. I'm gonna jam to some Spoon on the way home and see how they do. That's more of what I listen to on a day to day basis.

The Double Deez are out, no porno. :\ Now I'm gonna try a pair of JBL w15GTi's. If you missed the original build feel free and check it out here. Worst build ever! This is a straight drop in replacement, so things might not work out as planned. We'll just have to see what happens. I'm not looking to get louder, just looking for a cleaner sound Lets get started with some disassembly pics. Dang these fhawkers are heavy! A little side by side action. Those JBLs are wild looking fo sho! Side by side looking down at the cones. The DD have the edge on this one with the carbon fiber dust caps. With the tall-n-narrow surrounds the DD also look bigger. I ran out of daylight before I could get them wired up but here is a teaser shot of the finished product. Muahahahahahah! On a side note here is a pic of a little something I picked up to maintain the batteries. I'm probably gonna have to get a second charger, because one to charge and maintain 8 batteries is going to take forever. Going with a second charger will also require me to modify the battery bank wiring. I need to figure a way to split the bank to a pair banks, one for each charger. Any recommendations? Discuss.

2 amps isn't going to do any harm. I run 2 amps across my tongue in the morning just to get the day started. With the charger set to charge AGM batteries, I don't think it'll charge over 14.7 volts. Now we're talking. How long did you charge them for at this amperage? And the batteries haven't ballooned or lost capacity? That's interesting. Thanks for all the good info fellas.

Now there's a thought. Will ply wood and some Loctite PL 375 out do some of these cheaper deadener sheets?
-
LOL! I was waiting till someone posted that. I figured a little spin on the topic title would get some laughs since I was trying to get the subs to blend with the mid-bass. I think that's what makes it an AGM charger, it doesn't go over 14.7 volts. My big DieHard charger doesn't have an AGM option. I haven't checked to see what voltage it charges at either so I can say it goes over 14.7 volts, but I'm pretty sure it does. I have looked at other chargers and have seen where they explicitly say not for AGM batteries. I am curious to hear what amp rating some are using on their AGM batteries?
