Let me guess, your favorite colors are red and white. That's some serious equipment you got there. I feel sorry for the little car. It ain't gonna survive on week once that system is up and running. Good luck with the setup. Can't wait to see some vids of it in action. -
WOW! Nice photo shoot. Your system is pretty cool too.

I competed in the Texas Showdown this past weekend. I competed in the USACI SQ Mod class. No metering here just straight SQ. Here are some pics. Got the ol' Suburban all washed up and ready for the voyage from San Antonio to Houston. Here is what I saw as I drove up to the show. As usual, my fhawking battery died. This is where the show coverage stops. Here are the highlights. The plaque is for taking 1st in SQ mod out of one. The flag trophy is for best in show SQ class out of 6 competitors. It was a good show. Got to catch up with fellow SSA member Steve Mead and made some new friends. Always a good time regardless of the venue size. Just got to remember to smile and wave.

Thanks. It's a cave in there alright. I used the songs that did well with the DDs, around 43 - 44Hz. I'm gonna try something a little lower next time around.

ill have to stop by on Sunday with my baby boy. wife will be out of town and no babysitter. I'll be in the truck. I'll compete with the Camaro on Saturday. Mod 1001-2000, streetbeat 4 and portwars That'd be awesome if you can. No pressure though, a little one at a car show can be more than a handful. -

Bummer guy. No sub-frame connectors? I thought you had some. : Is it too late to get some in? At least maybe the bolt in kind? I can help, I haz a big hamma. Just a hop, skip, jump away from a 160. Woot woot. -
Hey there! Thanks. I dig the songs myself. They're recorded on the hot side thought, so got to be careful with the volume know. Possible. : I don't get the sound when it's all sealed up though. Then again the coil is on an 8" long former. Thanks, I'm happy with it. As for the rattling, it wasn't as bad with the old setup. I didn't think it was going to be this bad with this setup. Guess I was wrong. No plan of attack for the rattling just yet, it's on the radar for now.

Ha, ha, no need to be jelly brother. I know once you get a bit of free time from your Camaro build you'll be making some sweet crisp ear soothing sounds yourself. Thanks for the complement. Looking forward to hearing, experiencing, the Camaro. Just let me know when you've got some free time. I'll bring the drinks. Thanks for the offer Jon, as you can see I need all the help I can get. What ever you got to offer, I'm all ears. Thanks Dani

Funny guy. Yes sir, that is correct. I've got a small arsenal of these little amps. Great buys. Getting a little scarce though. Thanks. The system has been up and running for a few weeks now. I've only had the chance to really listen to it for a couple of hours though. A couple of locals have had the chance to listen, they are more than free to chime in with any critiques. I am happy it's up and running. The output in the bass department is impressive. Louder than the previous setup fo sho. I haven't taken it to the meter yet. I'm still tinkering with all sorts of "auto tunes" through the MS8 and getting the gains set on the amps. One particular place I've been focusing my effort in getting a good sound out of the mids and highs. I'd like to get some good imaging and staging and depth for when listening at moderate levels. At the same time I've been working on the gain of the Warhorse amp. I don't have a sure fire way of setting the gain of the amp. All I can do is set the MS8 then adjust the amp gain at full tilt and wait for a smell after a bass heavy song. Alot of trial and error for now till I figure out a better way.

Class 'D' amps heat voice coils more than class a/b?
onebadmonte replied to JohnHinerman's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Careful when saying that. "Watts" are just a mathematical result of amperage times voltage. Just like "horsepower" is the result of torque over time. Not all "watts" are the same. -
Bonkers man. My question is how did you convince those honeys to partake in the nonsense? Did you offer them some candy? I bet you did.

Very sexy looking.

Looking good. Congrats on the great job.

E-high-five back at you boss. In the world of used audio equipment nothing beats these amps dollar per watt. Oh, just to mention these amps are rated to do advertised power at 12.9v. Thanks, demo time is coming up soon.

Yay for updates! This was a fun day. First a big thanks to my buddy Rick for coming over early in the morning just to help me load this monster up. No amp on the box, just too much weight. O_o Amp installed. A little bit of the wiring. A couple of install picks. Barely enough room to shut the barn doors. Looking over the drivers shoulder. Finally, some subs in view. Up next some the smoke test. O_o

THREAD RESURRECT! Ha, ha. I've been running around like a chicken with my head cut off lately. I've made a bit of progress on my system, I just haven't had the chance to put my pics and words together for a proper presentation. Here we go. I wanted to take a little bit of time to make some improvements. Make things a bit easier in the disassembly and re-assembly department. We'll start off with the alternator bracket. The biggest pain in the ass is when tightening the outer most alternator nut and bolt. To remedy this I welded a threaded insert to the backside of the bracket. In this pic, the red circle is the area in question. On the right side is the insert to be welded. To center the insert I used some foil paper to center a bolt threaded into the insert. Here is the welded insert. The final product. Another area I improved on is the receiver hitch area. It's a bolt in piece, that has to come out when the battery rack has to come out. The pain about it is that it's a two person job that I'm always doing alone with a floor jack and a pair of ratchets. The only way to eliminate the floor jack is if I bulk up, which ain't gonna happen any time soon. The next best thing is to eliminate at least one ratchet. To do that I welded some bolts to a stip of 1/8" steel. Here is the new part installed. Looking up at the receiver hitch mount. The receiver hitch installed. More on the way.
