  1. the amp does 1200 at 2 ohms i need it to do 1200 at 1 ohm it does it just fine but yes wildly inefficient i'm just curious what voltage reading i should start with 34.6 or 48.9
  2. Amp: 1200x1 at 2 ohms Subs: 2 DVC 4 ohms subs wired to 1 ohm I'm using a DMM to set the gains and my guestion is: Do I set the gains using the formula volts = SqRt of(1200 x 1) or volts = Sq Rt of (1200 x 2) The difference is 34.6 volts for the 1200 watts at 1 ohm and 48.9 volts for the 1200 watts at 2 ohms
  3. the amp is a Pheonix Gold RSd 1200.1 info
  4. no but my dealer and a guy from pheonix gold said its ok
  5. Are there any good non D class amps that can push my twin RE SE 12s
  6. My girlfriend keeps getting shocked when she gets out of the car and touches the door Could a bad ground cause this?
  7. anyways I have a bigger problem i need to solve My amp (PG RSd 1200.1) isnt stable at 1 ohm so I'm running it at 4 ohms which only grants my subs (2 RE SE 12s) ~800 watts to share. So I thought switching to a US Amps XT 1600.2 and run it at 4 ohms which would grant my subs ~1100 watts to share AND solve my D class FM reception ruiner problem. Whutcha think?
  8. I have a D class amp now (PG RSd 1200.1) and there is a clear difference in FM reception quality when the amp is disconnected. and to boot my HU doesn't have an FM mode selector to switch from stereo to mono which would help dramaticaly
  9. like what? I thought it was pretty common for class d amps to deminish fm reception

    Buying CDT CL-61A

yeah basically I have two 12" RE SE subs getting 800 watts from a PG RSd 1200.1 and I desperately need something to compliment them because right now I'm hoping the lack of mids and highs is whats making it sound like I have some crap ass subs

    Component Crossover Question

yes the amp is a serious downgrade but as far as the HU goes I thought they were pretty comparible considering the specs (4v preouts, 110db s/n ratio, .004 thd etc etc etc) i know the price difference is alot but considering the advance of technology in the past few years i assumed they should be comparible, maybe i was wrong
  15. Does the crossover in a component speaker system affect the way the mid-bass woofer plays? Reason I ask is because I'm currently using only the mid-bass driver of a component system and it doesnt seem like the speaker is playing as good as it did when the crossover was in use.

    Component Crossover Question

No, there is a different but to my understanding comparible HU and a not so stellar amp. Old HU: 2003/4 alpine it was like $300 New HU: Kenwood X591 $160 Old Amp: Eclipse EA3422 $300~ New Amp: Old Kenwood free

can't get an ohm reading from subwoofer

No, sub is out and Im taking the measurements from as close to the cone as possible

can't get an ohm reading from subwoofer

No, the reading bounces all over the place.

    Component Crossover Question

They're lacking the clarity and definition that I heard when I was using the passive crossovers.

    Component Crossover Question

I'm using the HU crossovers but the external amp im using has no HP filters, so yes they are bypassed.
