Ethos 12 and 15 pre order
Quentin Jarrell replied to Quentin Jarrell's topic in Direct Sound Solutions
The factory sent some really crappy pics that are below. The bottom one is the Magnetar. (Big 270 MMAG). I am being told that one was air freighted to me if so ill have pics with it coned to a15. As soon as I'm happy with T/S parameters ( I have the ability to measure at my shop) then they will go to Patrick to go on the Klippel where T/S parameters will be verified. Then the drivers will be loaded into their recommended enclosures and put through a 24 hour test to verify power handling. -
Ethos 12 and 15 pre order
Quentin Jarrell replied to Quentin Jarrell's topic in Direct Sound Solutions
Order shipped a few weeks ago. I should have them in my hands on the 19th -
And that is perfectly fine. But this is not the SQ section and the guy wants what he wants. He did not ask for an opion of what to do. And even that he did not, if a suggestion would have been proposed of what to do would have been acceptable. But "3 Mids, yea that's gonna sound great" is not a proper response for the question asked from a mature adult that is supposed to moderate this forum
-
Because I pay good money for this section and I won't put up with Narcassistic and condisending bullshit here. If the post would have been helpful it would have stayed. But it wasn't, it was the same ole asinine comments that had no bearing on what the OP asked. I have already talked to Aaron about this as I have been getting complaints from friends and clients that I send to this forum. The only members are going to feel welcome is if they are helped. There is a big difference between helping people do the correct thing and being an arseho because people want to do something you find stupid.

I think they have a AGM version now though. -

Used one on my viper for 4 years. Tendered every day. -
I no longer do installs. PM Bassaholic on here. He works at a shop in BR.

It personally think its pretty shitty myself. The guy obviously has a budget and that budget includes sponsorship which helps pay for his product. He's already said he's open to adjusting what what he has to work with. Its kinda like you have the newest model mustang cobra and a young kid as excited about talking to you about his 1999 v6 but he gets mocked because its not up to par. A little humility goes a long way.

Trident 12'' sub (an on going design thread)
Quentin Jarrell replied to Quentin Jarrell's topic in Direct Sound Solutions
nope, it's on the far back burner. Not many people will want a 150 pound sub besides it will literally be impossible to ship via ground due to the weight. Guestimate on price would be in the $1,200 range judge by what my other stuff costs to manufacture. The only way to save weight to make it shipable will be to make it out of neo. At the moment neo it expensive however I have access to patented technologies that are very low reluctance that would minimize the amount of neo used. Right now I have to focus on what people will actually pay for. The magnetar is no slouch either though and samples of it are due in with the production of the Ethos. It has a motor force factor of ~350 with daily coil and ~3,200 with the SPL coil and offers 45mm xmax one way with the daily coil. Beta versions of it with 12 spoked baskets will run in the $500 range. -
Trident 12'' sub (an on going design thread)

This will be the first sub I will be building using the frames that I will tooling. It's an ongoing project and I'll update it as it progresses. I'm calling it "Trident" due to the three top plates as shown in the below density pic. What you are looking at is an assymetrical view of the motor with the pole being on the left and the outside of the magnets to the right. From top to bottom it goes. 1. top plate 2. magnet 3. top plate 4. magnet 5. frame (being the frame is sandwiched into the motor it acts as an effective radiator pulling heat from the gap) 6. top plate 7. magnet 8. bottom plate In all the motor is 270mm wide and 210mm tall This next pic is the B intensity inside the gaps that the coil travels through. The gaps aren't perfect yet (i'm still tweaking them, rememer this is an ongoing project) but you can see the general idea. The coil sits center of the center gap or hump. As it leaves the center gap it loses BL from that gap and gains from the gap that it is entering so that over its entire stroke it's BL remains almost constant. I plan on staying with a 3 inch 8 layer flat aluminum coil. I modeled some 4inch coils and there really wasn't much benefit beside I want to keep the spider as large as possible and the 3 inch coil should handle the power well for its intented use. The folowing are the projected specs for the sub. 12" sub sd .0491 m^2 Re 1.75 (series) Fo 34.8 hz Qts .4901 Qes .5269 Qms 7 (estimated) Vas 23.15 L BL 14.98 T/M (current model has 16.4) xmax 62.5mm one way @ 10% distortion (apprx. 70mm one way @ 70% BL Rms 9.652 Mms 406 grams Cms 68.38 uM/N spl 91.07 @2.83 volts Enclosure 2 cubic feet Fb 30.43 hz F3 26 hz Pe Max 6670 watts 2.779 db ripple -

Slamology 2013 Homeowners Association Compaint
Quentin Jarrell replied to Nathan@XSPower's topic in General Audio
Don't know where this event takes place but it appears to be a fair grounds or other similar venue. Unless the town/city has messed up zoning laws (or no zoning laws at all), I would assume noise levels in the nearest residential area do not exceed the 85 dB(A) threshold. That being said, rattling windows is a legitimate complaint and posting videos glorifying this does nothing but harm our hobby. Around here any public event must have police present. You pay a small fee and no one can say anything about disturbing the peace as long as you are within the guidelines of the permit. -

US gov has that on lock. Sorry bastards. Pay them 5 grand just so someone can't steal ur shit. Kinda bassackwards. -
Why did you drill holes in your bumper???I'm guessing airflow to his intercooler. Indeed! Thanks to Mopar's design, it's sitting behind the bumper with no vents. I couldn't find thick mesh, so I drilled holes in my 1 euro bumper There is a reason for this. I bet there is a greater vacuum of air being pulled under the bumper than wind just hitting the front.

That's gonna depend on how small ur muscles are.

All my shit is patented. -
it come with a warning label. "caution creates high center of gravity, keep below window line"
-
don't have to wait that long the Divine sample coming in a few weeks weighs 96 pounds for the motor alone.
-
I agree with you on that them bastards weigh a good 90 pounds
-
all you gotta do is beat the shit out of it. A loooooong time ago I had a customer fuck around with my install and the power wire got wrapped up in the front tire on a f150. The wire wound up ripping the battery post off the battery.

mine is going on 11 years old

just make sure you get the type from welding supply that is NOT cast steel.
