200. And it should be read as ohm or omega symbol on the knob. Post a pic of the meter.

Ethos 12 and 15 pre order
Quentin Jarrell replied to Quentin Jarrell's topic in Direct Sound Solutions
Yea, the Chinese (from what I'm told) do not have a magnetizer strong enough to saturate large motors so there are sent here dead. I personally will not do the assembly as I don't have the man power. My US supplier will assemble a few pallets at a time and send them to me. When I receive them ill verify rub and buzz and parameters with DATS before they ship to customers. That is until next year when budget allows me to per chase a Klippel QC analyzer. -
Turn the meter to read ohms and touch the positive lead to the positive terminal and the negative lead to the negative terminal. The coil should read whatever the Re is listed as. If its a one ohm sub it may be .6-.8. If its a two ohm sub it may be 1.6-1.8, ect. With the leads on the sub push the cone. The numbers should fluctuate but rest back at the original number. Be warned that cheap meters and cheap leafs may not rest at 0. Touch the leads together to verify resting numbers before testing speaker.

Ethos 12 and 15 pre order
Quentin Jarrell replied to Quentin Jarrell's topic in Direct Sound Solutions
As soon as I get the drivers in my hands ill start the sale. ETA 20th-25th. This is so I can manually test and look over the motors to make sure all is a-ok. The sale will last for 14 days. I will post sale pricing this coming week once I am 100 percent certain of the MAP pricing on the product. The sale price will be $50 cheaper than MAP. Both sale price and MAP price will be SHIPPED. -
Subwoofer frequencies are non directional.

Sundown x,z 10/ Tantric Sounds hd10

I appreciate your criticism, however, you should do your research before typing. Those drivers are linear way past 30mm. FYI. As I said per results he posted. And per them (the results above) they are not. As I have already said he may have revisions, but if so there have been none posted. -

If the softparts hit xmax at 30mm then that would equal xmech. The softparts go up to 50mm one-way on the Z.4 IIRC. Linear xmax on the prototype is around 30mm. No Xmech is the physical limit. Per these graphs they are the end of the curve or ~39 each way. In other words the drivers "locked up" at these points. The xmax is the black areas of the curves. You are looking at three componets: BL which is 70% = xmax Inductance which is 10% and mechanical compliance of the suspension/suround which is 50%. when any of these points are hit the driver has hit xmax or 20 percent distortion which is the point where audible distortion is found. The numeric values of each are located at the very top right hand corner. Overall its a very balanced driver. Both motor and soft parts hit their limits at the exact point 30.5mm one way xmax. But as quoted this may not be a final product. Maybe Jacob is re engineering the softparts to reach over 35mm one way. If I have to guess I'd say the reason for the limit on the softparts is from the spider. Is has a very low creep factor which is showed by the gentle curve on the CMS chart. If it was the surround hitting limits the curve would get exponentially curved towards the ends. -

I do believe you misunderstood Jacob. And per the Klippel results that Jacob posted his new softparts hit xmax at 30mm one way. -
GM Wiring Harness Changes: '90s - '00s
Quentin Jarrell replied to Minoxide98's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Pull the headunit out and look at it. GM went to the new plug during various years depending on the model. Depending on the year the headunit controls, air bags, oil pressure, door chime, seat belt chime, ect. And if it is the new plug it will not have accessory in the harness. -
If you decide you need a larger format sub I have a couple xbl^2 motors that could make some nice little drivers. I even have some blank dust caps to make them stealth.

No they are not neccissary. But it depends on who you talk to. Rear fill's purpose is to reproduce reflections found naturally in live events. When at a live performance there will be sound bouncing from structures/objects around and back forward. Preferably there should be no reflections in the venue but sometimes it's not possible. Olde school Sq guys used rear fill. But did they sound as good or better than today's set ups?

Talked to nick about them. The 20's and 40's are due this month an the 80's are due in August. I'm gonna be using 8 of the 80.1's in an Astro.

Post your maximum deminsions. Those cut outs look close in the pic. Mounting depth on the Ethos is ~9 inches. The motor alone is 5 inches tall. -
They keep it up you'll be pimpin all the new product.

You say. 3 feet I assume you mean the 15's. Three cubic feet is not on the small side. These subs are specifically designed for small enclosures. The 15 is designed for 3 cubic feet tuned to 32 hertz. This is optimum for a flat response. It can down to about 2 feet ported and up to about 4 feet. Over 4 feet tuned to 32 the gain gets over 3db. The 15 in 3 feet tuned to 36 hertz has about a 3db gain from around 50-30 hertz. -

Also. This motor have more mechanical clearance then the baskets. So you will bottom the spider (~45mm) before the coil will. And the surround will reach its limits before the coil can jump the gap. -
Ethos 12 and 15 pre order
Quentin Jarrell replied to Quentin Jarrell's topic in Direct Sound Solutions
The preorder is null and void. Those that have purchased have been reimbursed due to the much longer than expected lead time. The price is being re-evaluated. I can say that the 12 will not be over $350 with shipping. Keep in mind the motor in these weigh 50 pounds. I can only gaurantee stock under certain circumstances. Power wise I don't know how other companies come up with their ratings. The Ethos as well as any other transducer that I manufacture will be loaded into a recommended enclosure (the ethos 12 being 1.5 feet tuned to 32 hertz and the 15 being 3 feet tuned to 32 hertz) and subdued to a Klippel power verification test. The test involves the driver in the enclosure subjected to a 24 hour run on a amp capible of 5,000 watts rms. during this time the analyzer moniters things like coil temp, excursion, impedance, internal box temp, distortion. The analyzer automaticity adjusts gain when the driver reaches limits like a specific xmax, coil temp ect. Once this test is complete then I will have a comfortable publish rms rating. -

Holy destructosaraus Rex. I assume this isn't magnetized yet since it isn't throwing off the earths axis quite yet, and the fact thta the screw can actually be that close lol No. They don't have a magnetizer strong enough to fully saturate them so they are done here in the US. It's hard to tell due to the horrible pic. But the very top plate on that motor is ~7.5" OD and 1 inch thick. The wider part is the bottom top plate and is 11 inches OD. -
