two new ssa subs showing diffrent ohms
Quentin Jarrell replied to twisted1's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Well .6 x 2 = 1.2 ohms. Where did the 1.6 cone from? If your meter isn't broken then you have two different ohm drivers. Sometimes the ohm will be written on the coil. -
You're the only one I'd expect to ever say something like that. Whatcha making? uhhhh..........boiled peanuts in....................

Team Envied Avy 6 Fi Team Series 15's and 3 DC 9k's Doing Work

I'd like to see but it just keeps loading, and loading, and loading, and loading for me. -
fixing to go buy a sack of peanuts to boil

the steel was to get enough clearance for the coil to travel in. yea but wasn't cost effective

But spend mucho on material, and apparently inconsistent quality. Prices spiked badly, hence the reason the BTL is not in production anymore. I have samples ready that has a tad more motor force than the N3 and uses less than 1/2 the neo. Stacking neo on top of steel like that is extremely lossy. 10min on a basic magnetic modeler can show this. The motor I'm currently working on basically a neo Ethos uses 3 inch OD neo, 2 inchs thick total.

Seriously looking into Neo for drivers. Save mucho money on shipping and mucho money on shelving system to hold a 35 pound package versus 70 pound

You're missing my point entirely. There are people with PhDs in chemistry who apply for jobs that require a BS or masters because they can't find anything else and they're willing to do the work, and companies won't hire them because they're "overqualified." It's not about chemists not willing to work a "lower" job, it's about companies not willing to give them the chance because they believe the chemist will leave with the next opportunity. That's all my point ever was: PhD in (bio)chemistry reduces some job opportunities. And I'm talking about jobs in the chemistry field, not outside it. There is a problem with that way of thinking. If someone spends that amount of time learning they should be working toward owning their own business. Prime example is my boss. He was dirt poor from Central America. Came to the US to a local college here on a school visa. Got a degree in Chemistry and started working for a Molasses testing laboratory. He now owns what was once a Fortune 500 company and is still one of the most prestigious independent commodity lab and surveying company.

No. I work with laborers all day. Many of them are barely capable of doing the labor they do let alone anything else.I agree 1,000 percent with this. Which is why I have a job.

A scope isn't industry standard and is impossible to test on a d class amp without proper filtering.
-
That's the problem. No one knows if any of this stuff works. If these companies were worth their salt they would compare it to the industry standard. Or they have and know their product is junk.

I'm a bit rusty but I can still get a decent vinyl seam.

Round over bit to make an aeroport flared?
Quentin Jarrell replied to EPerez's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
Well there you go. Now you see why Jacob has success with a 6 inch port. The problem people are having is they do not have a basic understanding of what they are doing. I have said it time and time again. The loudspeaker cookbook is a tiny fraction of the amount of money people spend on their product. -

If posted xmax is 30, then depending on the strength of the stray flux field, coil overhang would be 20mm give or take a couple mm -

The definition for xmax is coil overhang, not the typical 70% BL figure posted. -
Also, from what I was told, JL is fading out the slash series and they do not currently have a regulated 1,000 watt amp. So they don't have an amp to power the W7

Talked to the owner a few months ago and he was interested. It would be nice to pick up an account that does ~200k a month in sub and amp sales

I was install manager for this company for four years. I can MAP the Primo (which will destroy a W6) 15% cheaper, give the dealer a higher margin, plus give the salesman a 5% spiff.
