FINAL PARAMETERS KLIPPEL TESTED BY PAT TURNMIRE

picture added. In case it is hard to see the "green" box is 3 cubic feet -
I've never owned a pair but all the redwings I've tried on I didn't like. There is a redwing rep that brings a fully loaded 18 wheeler full of EVERY shoe they make to the elevators I frequent. I'm sure it's just my feet. I prefer a flat spongy sole.

We'll if you are looking for a shiity amp to swap the internals for theft reasons I'd buy a blown amp off eBay.

I'd talk your doctor and complain that your medical situation (being overweight) is causing extreme amounts of duress and may force you to quit your job. See about getting a prescription for custom molded insoles. Lay it on thick I'm sure he'll write a script for some. Night and day difference. I wear prescription insoles for all my shoes and boots.

was it aluminum or lead tape? Aluminum would not have enough mass to have any sound deadening properties. Lead tape on the other hand has been used for decades. If it was just aluminum it is the same stuff used for AC duct vents and can be found at any home improvement store.

I've built several systems run north of 75k. 500 installs hours on a properly built demo vehicle is nothing. Look at just about any demo vehicle that was built by Fishman, Steve Brown, Brian Scmitt, Gary Biggs, they all have thousands of hours in a car. Just doing the kicks and trunk in my civic with one 12 will have well over 150 hrs in it. It takes a large skill set and large amounts of time to go from a box with a paint brush paint job to an install that looks like it came from the factory.
-
I'm anal about my installs. Man hours will be closer to 500. The ported section will have visible stainless bracing and the floor of the enclosure will have plexi containing the batteries. Plexi will aso be the front and back of the box.
-
What kinda costs we looking at in labor to build a (16) 15 4th order band pass in an astro van? Probably have Tangi Supply build the cage. And internal stainless steel supports.
-
So this means I get deeps discounts on installs?

They don't know yet. Have a sleep study in a few weeks. It's either central sleep apnea, narcolepsy, or bad thyroid. symptoms indecate central sleep apnea. It's just a trial to take two times a week to keep me from sleeping 14 hrs a day.
-
You can keep your NO explode, Buzz Saw, and all that shit. That's for pussies. Dr. prescribed Ritalin for narcolepsy. Made the mistake of taking it on an empty stomach. Feel like I ate a half a jug of NO explode.

I personally prefer the poly. dont care for the different shades of carbon.

Never use a coat hanger or any other object that will conduct electricity. Newer vehicles run data bus to door locks, chime ect. grounding out a wire can fry a computer module. A large zip tie made for AC ducks work best. Home depot and lowes have some up to 4 feet and bigger and they run about 75 cents. To ease installation spray the tie and wires being ran with windex. DO NOT USE WD40 or any other oil based lubricant. They are flammable and can catch fire if a wire that is powered is grounded out. Don't ask how I know that last part of info.

got the ole lady a new civic so I got this one as my new DD. Upgrading to a 12 ported. start of the box below. As long as history doesnt repeat itself I might actually finish this install. -
yea, Mms is the moving mass with the air load. That's probaly close.
-
based on the moving mass (which the program calculated) .163mm is corect and might be close. I had my decimal places wrong. The Cms on my Ethos is ~56uM per newton which is .056mm. So .163 being ~3 times as loose would seem about right
-
They are way wrong. The BL is obvious. The Cms is how much force it takes to move the cone. The Cms show would be a really really stiff subwoofer
-
I'd relook at the specs. BL of .5? And a Cms of .16mm/N ?

using EQ to modify the fs curve of my sub (winisd)
Quentin Jarrell replied to ncc74656's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
WinISD does a great job comparing apples to apples. But when modeling subwoofers with small signal real world measurements will be different when modeling the vehicle at listening levels due to parameter shifts. WinIDS also does not a. Oh t for transfer function nor does it a count for inductance which when I did testing on the effects of large coils output was actually reduced upwards of 6db at some points above 40 hertz. -
using EQ to modify the fs curve of my sub (winisd)
Quentin Jarrell replied to ncc74656's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
The below was is a 12 sample that was klippel tested. The green is large signal (high voltage to make the cone move to xmax) Thiele/Small parameters. The blue is small signal(only one volt) parameters. The same parameters most all manufactures list for their product. You can see by the shift in parameters (listed by each driver) that small signal parameters are not going to work well in the real world due to parameter shifts when the cone starts moving in a normal fashion. And most computer programs can not account for these shifts -
using EQ to modify the fs curve of my sub (winisd)
Quentin Jarrell replied to ncc74656's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
The best place to get a copy is on Amazon. The nominal impedance is what is listed by the manufacturer. 1, 2, 4, ect. The actual impedance will vary greatly depending on frequency, excursion, and heat. Modeling a subwoofer with a program like WinISD is a horrible way to figure frequency response as it can not predict parameter shifts that occur with power. Give me a moment and I'll post some parameters of the same sub with small and large signals applied to it. -
