Team Jersey for competitors.
Quentin Jarrell replied to Quentin Jarrell's topic in Direct Sound Solutions
These are for official Team members only. Not for resale. If team members wish to add their other sponsors that will be up to them. -
I will be giving shirts to competitors that will be running DSS product. Since y'all will be wearing them I want to make sure y'all approve. I know some of y'all are pretty big guys, will 4x suffice? I am thinking something along the lines of the below pic. The red would be blue, DSS logo will be on the back and front pocket and if you like your name would be embroidered on the front.

"Team DSS" will be going on the back. "Direct Sound Solutions" on the right chest and the competitor's name above the pocket. -

Terminate the end of the port equal and opposite of the first port wall. For example if the top is 15 inches and the bottom is 10 inches then make the end of the port 5 inches shorter at the top causing the port end to be angled.

Slight delay on new orders
Quentin Jarrell replied to Quentin Jarrell's topic in Direct Sound Solutions
I am being told all current drivers will ship this week along with your replacement. Stuff happens but I can't micro manage these types if issues when they are being built 300 miles away from me. If I currently had all my parts with me I would have been able to have a brand new driver sent out the same day. I am also working with a local certified packaging manufacture that tells me they will be able to certify the packages per UPS's 6 foot drop test. -
2010 civic sedan daily drive

Yes, the enclosure will be attached to the door panel. If you look at the door pic above you can see where the bottom of the umbrella pocket is attached. I will remove the pocket and the enclosure will fill that void and will flow onto the door panel and will attach to the "mounting ring" for the driver. I'll more than likely put some type of caulk between the "joint" between the enclosure and "speaker ring". Still not quite sure where I want the port mount to be though. -

After staring at the doors for about an hour I think I am going to do something simple. The factory grill will be routed out . The speaker will be mounted on the door and a trim ring will be made. The trim ring will be either the same color or slightly lighter in color as the door panel. The trim will have a 1mm gap between the door panel and about 3mm gap between the surround and about 5mm taller than the surround. The idea is to keep it as seamless and factory looking as possible. -
Froze my ass off today. Got down to 45 with a 40mph wind

Port paint is drying on the test box. 1 cft tuned to 32 hertz

Everything on this driver is open tooled. I just have to tool dustcaps with my logo on them. Any tooling for the Ethos line would be cosmetic as the current parts used are compliant to the motor's capability.

Glue job is a little rough. It's raining and didnt feel like walking to the shop to get my turn table but its good enough for a prototype.

It's together. 6 inch dust cap rides on the surround. I'm going to tool a small cap and centering ring to accommodate the driver. Testing will begin soon. If I like it Ill start selling them when I receive all of my parts.

Don't. Use an automotive grade primer. Do NOT use resin.

Yes vacuum will go through MDF. My vacuum form guy uses MDF bucks and he gets vacuum through 4 or 5 sheets thick without drilling holes in it.

encapsulated 75 grams of BB's around the former to get response to a usable curve. With this weigh it'll have a Mmd the same as the 15 model. A ported box for this thing is still gonna be tiny though. got rid of the typical gap between the surround and frame.

Hoping to have it finished by the end if summer. I'm expecting the front stage to take me 200-300 hrs to complete. The box is just about finished. Gotta figure out what to do about processing. Really wanna run two Rane EQ's but undecided. -

The Tridents will be in September. This truck would be a good test bed to verify specifications.
