Does this include mine? the tracking #'s you sent me have stopped showing a delevery date, and still only show that they have been scheduled for pick up. At this point I'd rather just wait til MAY and have you build me 18's. Just spoke with FedEx. Expect yours to arrive tomorrow. It is set up as Home Delivery so expect a Saturday delivery. This type of issue will not occur in the future as I will be able to micro-mange everything. -

Also. All current customers awaiting shipment should expect their orders to ship during the second weeks of May. And I will have parts to build BOTH 10" and 18" Ethos. -
Help me choose a new 15" sub
Quentin Jarrell replied to Notorious97200's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
It all comes down to proper engineering. There is a reason why I deal with who's considered the best group of engineers in the world. The more people get to hear these drivers will learn to understand this and realize just because a driver may utilize similar parts as something else doesn't make it the same. -

Like M5 stated a few pages back. Sound waves propagate just like water waves. And just like you are saying. When a tsunami hits Japan from an earthquake in the middle of the pacific does the water from the epicenter reach Japan? No, the energy is transferred from one molecule to another. However if close enough to the epicenter there is enough energy to displace the original. water to some degree Just like a large system in a vehicle. You can hear and feel the sound 100 feet away but the air in the box is no reaching you. It move and arbitrary 5 feet due to the amount of kinetic energy at the epicenter and as energy is disappated over a larger and larger area it turns into a domino effect pushing the next molecule and so on.

I don't perform backflips on mine so I stick with ones with seats.

Received the coil samples for the Encore today. Above is the Encore on the left next to the Ethos on the right. The Encore is for those who are looking for the sound the Ethos provides but only has 1,000 watts to play with. -

Test cut using a jpg Mark sent me and the cheap vinyl that came with the cutter. Came out pretty good considering the low quality of the jpg I can cut up to 13 x 49 inches with the plotter. -

Drivers dropped off at packaging company for custom tooled packaging. End goal is to survive 6 foot drop test. I'll update when saples are complete. -
SEALED REAR CHAMBER BP ENCLOSURE (4TH ORDER)
Quentin Jarrell replied to Quentin Jarrell's topic in Direct Sound Solutions
All volumes are net. You will find in most instances the volume of the port will exceed the net volume of the chamber itself. -

The Primo is the exact same thing as the UL but with 25mm Xmax. For $1,000 retail I can get around 45mm one way Xmax. And take 4,000 watts rms. This will require a 3.5 inch coil with 8 layer windings. Torque forces caused by the difference in heat variations on a 8 layer coil that big would cause the windings to unravel. The best option to overcome this is to do inner and outter edge windings on the former. Unfortunately there is only one factory in the world that can do this and their MOQ is out of my budget. So in the mean time I'm gonna have some kick ass raw tweeters, midbass, and midrange drivers built. -

Waves in the ocean don't move water. Ocean waves move up and down. I had to.

SEALED REAR CHAMBER BP ENCLOSURE (4TH ORDER)
Quentin Jarrell replied to Quentin Jarrell's topic in Direct Sound Solutions
Because 99.999999% of those boxes you see are NOT bandpass enclosures. Calculate a box with 8 15's in it with a front chamber of say 10 cubic feet with a port say 24 x 24 inches. It's gonna be crazy long. But look at how blows box and his is only one foot long. why? Because it's NOT a bandpass box. All he did was put his drivers in a sealed box and put a loading wall in front of the subs and create a wind tunnel with the small opening the subs have to play through. Joe Blow would have been better off with a regular ported box. -

It's similar to the Magnetar you played with but with slightly less Xmax to match the soft parts and adds more BL and efficiency. -

No, it will be rated around 3k rms. The soft parts will allow it to go to 40mm safely. In order for the 15" driver to move 35mm one way in its recommended box it will need right around 3k. This is the safe point for the coil. Any more Xmax and it would run into thermal issues. The motor's BL curve is different than any other ever produced. Not including fringe field BL percentage is as followed: 0-20mm is 100% BL 20-40mm tappers from 100-66.6% BL. So it's supper efficient through most of its stroke and is "linear" to 40mm with only a 50mm long coil. -
