will i need to upgrade my electrical
Quentin Jarrell replied to Michael914's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
agree with him, but caps aren't bogos they just don't have enough capatitance to be cost effective. In other words it would be like hooking a bunch of d cell flashlight batteries in series to get 12 volts to power your radio. It'll do it it just won't last long. -
Very Important Alternator Information!
Quentin Jarrell replied to shizzzon's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
What they might have meant was you could get a voltage spike that could damage your battery and electronics. That's why they tell you don't start a vehicle (jump off) that doesn't have a battery installed. The battery helps level voltage spikes coming from the alternator -
Very Important Alternator Information!
Quentin Jarrell replied to shizzzon's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
This is a quote off powermaster website. Will a higher amp alternator hurt my battery or charging system? No. A good rule of thumb is that more amps are not harmful, but more voltage is. If you look at electrical power like water, amperage is equivalent to the volume of water, and voltage is equivalent to water pressure. More amperage is like having a larger pool of water to draw from. -
It's nice to meet people but I still wouldn't want to live in one though.

Got the alpine 4 channel installed along with the wiring for the soundstream. Got the Kicker ks6.5's in the front doors, ks5.25's in the rear. All I have left now is to wrap the box but that'll wait till tomorrow. Not bad for a 7 hour install, if I do say so myself.

Who's gonna be a Scrappin the Coast this year?
Quentin Jarrell replied to Quentin Jarrell's topic in General Audio
I say that on the news the other day. I am coming from St. Tammany. We're going to the Hollywood this Sunday then goin to the Hard Rock to waste some money. They have a nice area with $20 and $100 slots. We normally take 90. I prefer the scenic route rather than the interstate. How many trucks ya'll gonna have? -

MTX Jackhammer 24" Square Sub
Quentin Jarrell replied to Dangerous10k's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
The old jackhammer is a good woofer, for what it is. The only downfalls are the price and the weight. There is an enormous amount of excess material on the basket. The only one I heard was installed in MTX's trailer and it was hella loud. It's just not economical. It was a good PR product though. -
Did the pics post or is it just me?

Here's some more pics. I don't have time to explain the pics. I have to go pick up an Escalade from a customer. If you have a question don't hesitate to ask. -

It's going to look like this but painted to match the vehicle. -
A new candidate for another high-end install

I haven't much progress to show. I have been busy working on other vehicles. Here's what I did this evening. It is a panel that will be painted and frenched into the floor panel and house my logo. Started off with two layers of 1.5 ounce chopped strand matt. Its very important to use whole sheets to cover the panel completely instead of multiple smaller sheets. It makes for a smoother finish. The wax from the resin is then grinded off with a angle grinder with a 24 grit roll-loc pad. The the panel was wiped down with resin mixed with just enough body filler so it won't run. After a quick sand with with 60 grit on a DA I sprayed the panel with resin with a tad of bodyfiller to give it color so it will be easier to see. After it tacks up enough to cut with a razor I trim any drips and sand down with 60 grit paper. Then bondo any inperfections. The two spots on the left and right were the only pin holes that needed to be filled. Then I sanded the whole panel down by hand with 80 grit. Altogether there was only about 1 tablespoon of bodyfiller applied to the panel. -
downfired will work well sealed. If you have enough airspace I don't see why you couldn't do ported. Make sure you have at least 1.5 inches from the woofer to the floor. If this guy doesn't have enough experiance to know he can fire the subs up or down rather than forward, he doesn't need to build your box.

Good idea looks to be a good way for Internext Media to gain pings. They are probally still using google's database though. They are probally making a profit from google off each ping and breaking you off a little $$$ for each hit you create.
