10" excursion videos with Genisis xbl motor

He didnt say the high xmax of his subwoofer would make it louder than normal, he was using that as a reference or example. The fact the sub utilizes Xbl^2 technology is what makes it louder on lower power compared to a driver of the similar make-up without the Xbl^2 technology. Since I have a BL curve of our Divine motor we will use it as an example. This sub has a one way xmax of about 33mm one way. The topology (on this particular motor) allows the BL (motor force) to keep nearly 95% of it's strength through 70% of its linear stroke. Typical overhung motors start to lose motor force rapidly as the coils moves away from the center of the gap. So in order to keep the force on the coil constant you have to compensate for that loss in BL (motor force) by increasing amplifier power. If this this doesn't explain it better let me know and I can upload white papers from Dan that might explain it a little easier.

Nope, absolutly NO more power. This is the whole point of us using Xbl^2 technology. How many other 25 mm xmax subs on the market only need 500 watts? Not many. We can get just as loud with 40-60 percent less power than any standard topology in the market. There for saving you the customer $$$$$$$ in the long run. Imagine running two of these 15's on 1,000 watts and being just as loud as you buddy. But your buddy needed 2,000-2,500 watts so he spent twice as much on his amp, twice as much on his wiring, had to buy more batteries, and more than likely had to buy a high output alt. The best example that people can relate to would be Dan's Brahma. Shit tons of output, but only needed 1,000-1,200 watts. How many subs on the market today with equivilant output only uses 1,200 watts?

I would say we are using ferro-fluid, but we're not. The spiders I received were not correct so I "rigged" one for this 10" and a 15" to do load tests on the motor and coil. It doesnt look too pretty so I didn't take any pics of it.

10" excursion videos with Genisis xbl motor

These aren't exaggerated excursion levels like a free air video or videos with huge amounts of power to push the sub to its mechanical limits. These videos were performed with apprx. 450 watts clamped which is what will be recommended for daily use. At 70% BL these subs have 25mm one way excursion.

not a problem I should have been a little more detailed on the title. Should have said 10" sub videos with Genisis XBL^2 motor !!!

I didnt check the model to see how old it is but if it's an older pioneer its software will not recognize a newer iPhone, or an iPhone at all

An update on what's going on with our subwoofers

Even though the cones and spiders I recieved were not correct I was able to come up with a little something to test the coil and motor I will be using. You can see from the pictures the OD of the surround is a little to close to the mounting holes. The spider was also a little large so that had to be trimmed a bit. So far I am happy with the coil. 250-500 watts is all that will be needed for daily listening. Any more power really didn't result in much more output on the TL that would justify more power for daily listening. I ran a Bass Mechanic cd on it full tilt for 30 min straight with apprx. 980 watts clamped and the "Coil Bonder" glue smelled a little but the coil looked and functioned properly. So far I have put about 30 hours of play on it and it looks and sounds fine.

*Pic inside* Ripped roof, help please

Instead of using jb weld see if you can find an isomethacrylate adhesive. Some when applied to metal cures so hard it can not be scrapped off. It must be cut off with a metal lathe.

    Looking for a 15" sub

As others have said. I would look into a sa-12. It have a little more performance than the dcon

    Looking for a 15" sub

What exactly is optimal? The only optimal enclosure is one that is best for your needs. Maybe he can't afford a new box or maybe this box is the optimal size for his space requirements.

Will the xcons work in IB?

I see no problem running an xcon IB however running 3 in your trunk is getting close to the volume 3 subs would use in a normal enclosure. So you end up with back pressure just like a sealed enclosure. In other words your trunk will be pressurized just like a box would be

An update on what's going on with our subwoofers

Well after 3 months of dealing with the "go to" American soft parts company and recieving samples that borderline laughable. They say they can't offer anything without 18 grand worth of tooling. So I will be getting everything except coils from china. It's looking like towards the end of august I'll have proper prototypes running of both the genisis and divine subs

Will the xcons work in IB?

If this guy is telling you to do your 3 xcons IB in your trunk I highly recommend another installer. You won't end up with an IB set up. You will have what amounts to a leaky 11.9 sealed enclosure
