need a box design for 3 skar audio vvx 8s
Quentin Jarrell replied to oakteg21's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
You'd be in the 250 range. But you'd bet my quality is gonna be hard to beat as most anyone here would agree. But anywho, if it's a trunk car I'd put the port and subs on the same side. -

And if you're not sure of ur skill set. I might even come out of retirement and build it for you. -

As I said in my post two post up it's not a problem. But no I don't have any pre made for those sub's. A day or two ago "Keven S" recommended you to go to a particular designer. Kevin is the owner of Skar. Were they not helpful? Repost ur max external deminsions. And I ASSuME u want the sub's and port facing the same direction? -

All joking aside. (the isobaric tubes weren't a joke). If you can't get a design OP. It won't take me but a minute once I'm home to come up with something for you. -

WRONG, Kicker made tubes with two ten inch sub's (and maybe 12's) in an isobaric configuration. -
So, if imaging isn't neccissarily the goal wouldn't it be just as easy to do multiple sets of components to retain clarity but increase volume?
-
I kinda thought that was obvious though.

Kevin did send him to another forum to some box designers. I guess between the manufacturer and the designer they couldn't come up with a recommendation? -
If you haven't heard bullet tweeters they are really really f'ing loud. I personally can't handle one mounted in the front stage of a car.

Now why would you say this when we all know my sub enclosure setup has WELL exceeded it's expectations in the audio competition world ??? Mark and Aaron has had a demo of my truck with great comments ... What is "dumb" about it ??? Everyone knows Kicker made the Isoberics obsolete when they made the Soloberics. -
Then all of our understandings are all different. Mine is sitting in a amplitheather or live concert. His is quote "people shit themselves".
-
What you have to understand is that when Impious, M5, and Honda read "Pro Audio" they are under the assumption you want pro audio. We have to first establish that a proper pro audio set up (a live set for example) is designed to create a completely different sound than what these car audio "pro" drivers do. So do you want that "live" in concert experience? Or do you just want an obnoxious loud set-up?

Of course you don't need that much port. And Small didn't have a clue what he was doing when he created the formula. If his formula is so ludacris why even model a sub for an enclosure using specs. You know those T/S parameters as in thiele SMALL. If he didn't have a clue when it came to port compression how is it he was capable of creating formulas for a transducer. That formula is for port COMPRESSION not port noise. There is a huge difference. You may be willing to lose 1-2 db by "saving space" by using a smaller port. But by then it would have been the same as doing the smaller subs.
-
Back to Small's formula formula dv = 39.37 (fb x Vd)^1/2 dv= minimum port diameter of vent in inches fb= box tuninf frequency in hertz vd= cone displacement in cubic meters (one way xmax in meters times cone area in meters) for one BL 15 xmax= .018 meters sd= .018 meters^2 tuning= 32 hertz (per you) dv= 39.37 (32 x .018 x .081) ^1/2 dv= 39.37 (.046656)^1/2 dv= 39.37 (.216) dv=8.5 inch diameter port per sub dv=56.72 square inches for two 15's you need (2)dv. So you need 113.44 square inches of port

that is ASSuMEing I was using the right sub. The lower end sundown 8?

Why is it every time LSU plays it has to rain it's ass off.
-
It won't matter because the people with 4 15's with only 200 inches of port cramed in a wall in a 4 door sedan will run their head about not hear any port noise. But you and I know the differance between hearing port noise and the correlation between port COMPRESSION and decreased spl, increased coil temperatures, and higher group delays. It just blows my mind that people spends thousands and thousands of dollars on equipment and won't spend 40 bucks on a book to learn how to apply the equipment.

you don't need resin, the wood will have less drag than you will get with the resin. Not that its gonna matter anyhow. The srews aren't gonna leak but if you are concerned put a little liquid nails in after you predrill the hole.

electrical power follows the driveway but out here in the sticks the electric company owns the poles so the cable company has to rent the pole space from the electric company. There is cable on the main road but I'm the only house in the middle of 140 acres down a 1/3 mile long driveway so in order to get cable I have to pay to have the line ran. So I just stick with directv

my driveway is 1/3 mile long. cable is a no go.

it's raining its ass off. Flood warning, thinderstorms, but 40 miles away in baton rouge clear as can be.

I'm not a pro audio guy but going trough the latest copy of Voice Coil here is a few links: http://bmsspeakers.com/ =39&tx_ttnews[backPid]=1288&cHash=7adfcae96bb99927df3defc270c01961"]http://bmsspeakers.com/index.php?id=1289&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=39&tx_ttnews[backPid]=1288&cHash=7adfcae96bb99927df3defc270c01961 ^^^^^ that looks pretty f'ing badass 80- 20,000 hertz in a 6 inch mid http://faitalpro.com/products/schede/cd.php?id=502010090 http://www.rcf.it/en_US/precision-transducers

I got that direct tv anywhere crap but the damn high def cable wont reach from my desktop to my tv. And it's a home game, the stadium is 40 miles from me and it's not raining but its been raining its ass off here all day.
