"Sound deadened", the sticky stuff with the foil, you think of when you think of sound deadener is not made to keep noise from coming in your vehicle. It is designed to keep panels from resonationg or creating noise from vibration. It's not gonna keep those panels from vibrating, it'll only keep it from resonating. So only put as much as you need to keep it from resonating Then use a mass loaded material to keep noise reduced. It's really common sense. You don't have to completely cover a bell in bubble gum to make it stop resonating it only takes a glob on one spot.

I still say we would make a killing with with a 12 volt limiter with an adjustable threshold. We could even charge extra for a tool to set the threshold.

what is diff between coax and components?
Quentin Jarrell replied to krb1991's topic in General Audio
Components are better bc diffraction from a coaxially mounted tweeter is the biggest cause of response errors. Ideally you want the tweeter and mid as close together as possible. The factory puts the tweeter high up in the door or in the pillar to bring the sound stage up so the sound doesn't seem like its coming from the floor. I'm pretty short and not really a SQ guy so I don't need my staging to sound like it coming off the hood of my car. A little modification to the factory mid location and mounting the tweeter inline with the head unit normally does a decent job of puting staging right above the radio for me. -
Call IA leave a message to have one custom made. Tricia normally answers messages promptly.

The US sub is always going to take twice as much to manufacture. So technically the same amount of YOUR money is staying here in the US. It's just the guy that outsourced his parts form china is keeping the extra costs HE saved in his pocket

You'd be suprised how unamerican american products are. No.1 cone and spider source in U.S. Loud Speaker Components bought Nuway in Mexico about 2 years ago uses them for nearly all their spiders and some cones now. no.1 coil manufacturer Pecision Econowind winds all of it's OEM automotive coils in China mostly the only thing wound in Florida is high temp coils but all the materials are Chinese. Magnets, you ain't gonna a find a source here in the U.S. and if so it's gonna be too expensive.

Anyone have experience with Vipera?
Quentin Jarrell replied to stiffler style's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Distortion isn't measured on a 70% BL xmax subwoofer rating. 70% = 20% distortion caused by lose of BL. This rating is used bc normally you will see othe parts of a driver create distortion much earlier. In other words said driver may have had a 30mm xmax but reach 20% THD at 15mm But distortion is not neccissarily a bad thing. In some instances distortion is induced to make the sound fuller and warmer -
Westport makes some nice shit. I have an uncle that keeps one down in the Florida keys.

If you are or have been taking Verapamil I hope you have been getting regular EKG's . Verapamil and Propananol may help the headaches by reducing blood pressure. BC that's what they are high blood pressure medacine, but they have horrible side long term side effects and they don't treat the root of the problem which is the enlarging of the blood vessels caused by over active nerves.

I'll stick to what work works for ME... Eleiko, Giant, and fried pork chops and red beans and rice on mondays and fried catfish with fries on fridays
-
I live in Louisiana I can't go with out fried catfish and redbeans and rice.

I'll stick to eating what I want, I want when I want, and how much I want. Besides the obvious migraines and auto immune disorder I'm fit as a fiddle. I got the Hematology reports, CT scans, ecograms, MRI's, stress test, ultra sounds, EKG's, EEG's, and piss tests to prove it.

Lost about 10 lbs muscle mass since August, gained about 5 pounds of fat. Sitting around 150ish right now. Worst part s I had just bought a brand new Giant Avail Advanced XL 0. I've only put about 200 miles on it and it's been collecting dust.

Been feeling pretty good lately. Tonight is my 2nd night back to work in 3 weeks.

It would be nice to work out again. I haven't been able to lift weights or get on a bike in three months

They are giving you the wrong medication. Cluster headaches and migraines are caused from different parts of the brain. If you are having a cluster headache you want to take a medication like Fioricet. Migraines can occur in any part of the body. I was in the hospital for 4 days a few weeks ago for a complex migraine that involved my head, neck, and abdomen. For migraines Topamax daily with Imatrex as needed works wonders.

This is the actual Re as measure during the testing. -

The below graph is the voice coil displacement and correlates directly with the power graph above. Green= physical coil movement Blue = calculate instantanious center of coil's in and out amax value yellow= calculated xmax if from a true zero center -

Above is a voltage/Current graph from the large signal testing done on the 12" sample. Testing was done free air on a Klippel machine. The measure Re of the sub was 1.5 ohms (yellow) Urms = rms voltage applied (blue slashed) Upeak = peak voltake applied (gray) Irms = rms current (gray slashed) Ipeak = peak current The bottom is the time in seconds that the testing was done. Using ohm's law you can calculate the amount of power that was giving to the sub FREE AIR during the testing -
Questions about upgrading todays cars...
Quentin Jarrell replied to oldschool4life's topic in General Audio
Good lord. I hope Ford is giving some deep discounts. $37,000 loaded? I just bought the old lady a '12 certified preowned Audi Q5 3.0 Premium plus with 5,000 miles for less than that. -

I'd unhook all speaker wires at the harness at the radio first. As said if the wire is grounded or a speaker is blown it will put the radio into protect. You can also just unplug the radio and check each speaker wire (vehicle wires) continuity to ground using ur DMM to find out if you have a grounded speaker wire.
