I have had my 15D2 for a couple weeks now. I have a Tantrum 1200.1 I am going to be pushing it with once I get it running to its full potential (need alt and batt). Currently I am running this beast with a PPI PC2150 (600 watts). I had very high expectations of this sub after all the readings. I have had it in two boxes one a 4.5 cuft ported to 30hz, and currently 2 cuft sealed. I went to the sealed do to size. This sub is very impressive. It hits the looooows, extremely well, better than other 15s I have heard. This being my first time owning a 15 (always had 12s) I was nervous about the recovery from the low tones to the highes. Well the Mag rollsovers from the lows to the high bass notes with no problem. It packs a punch like no other single sub I have heard. On this same PPI amp the Mag out performs my 3 JL 12w3s. It is louder than them and prvides fantastic SQ. This was my first time going with a different driver than JL also, and while I was nervous I am now extremely happy that I made the move and took the chance. Thank you SI!! I am just mad at myself waiting to order my second one, now they are all gone :thud: this is what happens after a few minutes with a Mag :denim:

what is the damping factor on an amp? I see some at 500 and some at 50.

anybody run a Hifonics? do you like it? or have had any good experience with one?

you can definatly still hear my front stage. I have my Diamond Hex comps running off a PPI PC2150 also (2 x 150) and damn are they loud and clear. I am actually going to turn the amp down a tad cause they are louder than my mag at times. That is why I need a second. I would def recomend Hex components to anyone also (sorry Nick, I know you just put up that new comp page). Thery are loud and clear and can handle some major power. Dynamat next week!!

I thought they were all sold? or am I reading this wrong. You sure there isn't one lonely 15 laying around for me? That sucks that there won't be anymore for a few months. Keep us updated when you do decide to get another batch going. I want a preorder.

I am getting very irritated with my PG Tantrum. I have not had it in long at all. And this thing is suppose to put out 1507 watts (by BS). Well my PPI PC2150 does alot better on my Magnum than the PG. I do not get it. I put my Mag in a 2 cube sealed box and still does not help it. I had the Tantrum turned about 3/4 the way up, the ssf on about 30, the crossover on about 80hz, and the bass boost barely up at all and my PPI out does this amp. Everyone kept telling me it had to be a setting on the amp so I gradualy turned it up a little more, and yes I was getting some major movement out of the sub at high volumes but at volumes of 21 and less (Alpine HU) it was like there was no sub, and the Mag started to pop on my tantrum at high volume, which REALLY suprised me. so I have taken my Tantrum out till I can think of anything that can get it performing right. And am back to my PPI PC2150. anyone with any input please add some.

using a volt meter, would you put the volt meter on the speaker terminals and adjust the gain till a certain volt, then the same on the second. Or am I way off here? I will probably hold off on the two amps, don't want to mess this sub up. Is that 1 15 stilll left???

are you sure cause at 12 volts the amp is not putting out near the rated power at 14 volts. O well, I will keep trying meanwhile I have my PPI PC2150 on my Mag and for only giving it ~600 watts it is a very impressive combo. I love these PPI amps. Would it be ok to put one PPI PC2150 on each voice coil? (two amps on one sub) I have another I can use also.

I am wondering what the mounting depth of a 15D2 is? and also how much room behind it (between the magnet box) should you leave?thanks.

I think I found the problem. I am only getting 12volts to my amps. I checked it the other day and I was getting 14, but that was with my dad's half broken meter. So I am assuming that I am not getting full power unless I get my Tantrum to a 14 volt load. Why is my cap not putting out 14 volts?? I thought that is what they are suppose to do. Well guess it is time for a new battery/alt.

I have the sub wired to 4 ohms. It is not that I am expecting too much out of the sub, cause even when I had it in a ported box I had this problem. I think something may be wrong with the amp, even though I just bought it. I just don't see why I am not getting much power out of my Tantrum at low volumes. I get plenty out of my PPI at low and high volumes.

I have never had to have the sub level all the way up to 15. I did have it in a ported box but took up EVERY inch of my trunk. I am going to get a second Mag soon but I am still curious why I am not getting my amp going good.

well their XXX amp runs 10grand, so that will probably give you an idea. I would guess about 2000 bucks.

what is the depth of a 15 D2 and displacement of one? I am trying to figure out some plans for a sealed enclosure. My ported just takes up too much space.

I just need to figure the deminsions of a sealed box. I have I got from Gnome but they are for 2 15 D2s and I will not be getting a second one till I upgrade my elec system. So I need to figure out a box design for a sealed enclosure. anyone know the displacement of a 15 D2?

I have a Alpine 9813. and am running my 15 D2 off of a PG Tantrum 1200.1. The amp has two pos. terminals and two neg terminals. Kinda weird since it is a mono amp. But I have one of the pos hooked to one of the pos on voice coil 1 then one of the neg terminals hooked to the neg of coil 2 then a wire from neg of coil 1 to pos of coil 2. This is correct isn't it. When I had my PPI PC2150 running the D2 it did not have this problem. Now that I put this big amp on it it does. at levels up to 20 it is almost like there is no sub at all.

I have my PG Tantrum 1200.1 on my 15 D2 and I am not getting much movement out of my sub at levels of 20 and lower on my Alpine HU. once I push it past the 20 mark it starts moving, it moves an insane amount at 25. Anyone have any ideas why? maybe my elec system not giving the amp enough power? I do need a yellow top bad, and possibly a new alt. I have the PG 1200.1 which is 1507 watts by the BS and a PPI PC2150 which is 300 watts.

are those two 15s? I am getting me a second one in a few weeks and going to put them both in a sealed box. I have my one right now in a ported box and it takes up just about my entire trunk, with amps on a make shift board on the floor also though.

it is in about a 4.5 cuft ported box. Going to build a small sealed box, this box just takes up every inch of my trunk. And I know it will be loud as hell still in a sealed box, and sound great. as far as the box I have it in now it is ubnoxiously loud and has very good SQ. I am VERY impressed.

will post some pics when I get home from work tonight. I got it installed and breaking it in with my PPI PC 2150 before I throw my PG Tantrum 1200.1 on it. And WOW!! This Mag is blowing me away already. Can't wait to see what happens when I put my PG on it. This one 15 puts my 3 12w3s to shame.

curious to how many were produced too. Will you continue to make them or is it till they are gone then their gone? Cause I will be wanting to order a second in a month or so.
