    A technical understanding of Polyfill

There's no way a pound can fit in a cube loosely, guess I'll just use less, thanks.

    A technical understanding of Polyfill

Sorry to bring this back up, but I just want to stay on the safe side. I'm running two subs in 1.1 sealed each, separate chambers. I stuffed each chamber with approx 14oz of polyfill, but it seems like a lot. Is just stuffing the box okay? It filled up most of the chamber. I keep hearing that the subwoofer can be damaged if polyfill is just stuffed in, is there a different way I should have put in the polyfill? Thank you.

    SSD's ported?

Hi, I currently have the SSD's w/ copper coil in about a cube sealed. My buddy had a box, 3.5 @ 32hz I believe, that he said I could use if I needed. Would that box be good for the SSD's or will it be too small? I could use the slight bump in output, unless the box is too small.

    JL or Stereo Integrity

Wanted to get some opinions out there.. Which would you guys go with, 2 12w6v2's sealed or 1 12 Magnum ported? Either application would be powered by a Sundown 1500d. Looking for SQ and have decent output.

Okay.. let's say there isn't a technicality of one driver being out of production....

Lookin at SSD's with copper coil

How would the upper-bass response (45-60hz) of the SSD's with the copper coils in 1.1 sealed? Are they also pretty accurate? I was considering two 12's hoping to get a flatter response and keep up with the accuracy and low-end of the Q (2.2 @ 32). I'm running 1200w to the Q but have around 1500w on tap with an MD2.

Yeah, I've got about 2 good layers of Damplfier on the inner skin of my door panel, and 2 layers on the outer panel. The doors are also pretty much sealed up. The midbass is really live and peppy rather than full and powerful.

Lookin at SSD's with copper coil

I have some CMX's right now, getting some Germaniums installed sometime next week, so we'll see if that makes a difference. Doubt it will, but we'll see. There's just a bit more impact in that frequency range with previous setups I've had. I simply said I'm not an SQ-freak in response to NDMstang's post saying that if that that big into SQ I shouldn't be running amps that low. I'm not that big into SQ. As for your confusion, I guess if my system right now had slightly more output around 45-65hz, then it'd probably have a flatter response also. So I thought that in my application a flatter response and better response from that frequency range would go hand in hand, therefore that might be the reason you got two different vibes. Hopefully that'll help you help me.. heh, sorry for coming so harsh the first time, my bad.

Lookin at SSD's with copper coil

Probably because of my trunk car. 1998 Passat, not exactly an output type of vehicle. I've heard same exact setups in my car and someone elses, my cabin is just hard to get loud. I only have a single Q, running two sealed might not be favorable for my electrical system if I wanna run them at .5 ohms (the Q I have is D2). Probably just gonna look at 2 SSD's w/ copper coil sometime in the future.

Lookin at SSD's with copper coil

Honestly, the question wasn't that complicated. I'd email Scott, but even then I'd have to try at least 4-5 times to get one response. And I still need to pick a bone about being confused. Seriously, you've heard the SSD, you've heard the Q, and in a box close to my specs at that. So I'm sure you could answer the question if you'd please, but you decide to let people know you're confused. Thanks.

Yeah, confused so you decide to post and tell people instead of trying to help. But of course RIckRolled, you're better than everyone else. I really don't see what there is confusion about, people don't know how to read. I simply just asked if 2 12" sealed SSD's with the copper coil would keep up with the accuracy and the low-end of the Q (2.2 @ 32) and have slightly more output in the 45-65hz range. Basically a flatter response.

    Friend wants subs

Hey Scott, my friend has a Sundown SAE-1000d (1000 x 1 @ 1 ohm) for power and I'm trying to figure out what subs to get. He's running 2 12w3v2's sealed and they're getting about 800 watts total. He's looking for a bit more output and better sound. Well first I was looking at dual 12 setups, and I thought about having 2 SSD's (500 watts each), 2 SE's, or 2 TC-9's. All with 500w each and sealed. A single 12" Q also came to mind. Listens to mostly rap anywhere from 30-75hz. What setup do you think would be best for his power available and more output and SQ?

    Friend wants subs

I'd say around 350, the SSD's are almost pushin it. Add a sealed 15" Magnum to the mix too.
  16. So I'm coming from a Q, it's in about 2 cubes and tuned to 30hz. I'm powering it with an MD2 being a bit conservative on the gain. The output is pretty good for a twelve in a trunk car and the lows are thunderous, but I want something that will also play the upper frequencies 45-60 a bit louder than the Q does. Lookin for something with the same punchiness of the Q also. Probably looking at 2 12's sealed, I think I'll be satisfied with the output there and I can turn it down if needed. Only subs I've considered were the SE and the SSD w/ a copper coil, possibly the TC-9 too. Any help/suggestions are welcome, I'm open to anything.

It is in a ported box. I'm not an SQ-freak, I just want better response from 45-60.

Lookin at SSD's with copper coil

I'm sure it would, I'm only looking for a better response, not insanely louder bass. Would the Q be better for what I need sealed? If so I can run two at .5 ohms in a sealed box.

In the market for different subs

Right now I'm running Rainbow CMX's off a 4050XXK. I think it does its job pretty well. By the time they get to 45-55ish, the sub will be handling most of the material (in my setup). I'm not looking for midbass or a smooth transition or blending frontstage, I'm pretty satisfied with how well it is right now, pretty smooth. I'm looking for something that will have decent low end and good upper bass also. The RL-p did it decently sealed, but other areas left me something to be desired.

In the market for different subs

What type of enclosure do you have them in and how do they sound?
  22. menikmati

In the market for different subs

I actually had two RL-p's prior to this setup. They didn't sound natural playing the low lows and not as accurate (though still accurate in my opinion) as the Q. I was thinking the TC-9 would be different since it has a copper coil. Pretty much just looking for something that'll hit the lows with authority like the Q, be punchy, and play the upper frequencies (so pretty much a fairly flat response). The Se's would be 165 each, SSD's 195, so I guess that's my price range.

    Fi 12" Q Box

Hi, I'm getting a Fi 12" Q and need some help on a ported box. I'll probably go with the recommend tuning of 32hz, but I was wondering what the main differences between 2.0 and 2.5 would be?
