What you wanna do is equivalent to turboing a car and arguing about not needing better brakes... The bigger you go.. the more responsibility you have.

An enclosure that large, a wall, is bigger than a street box. It is heavier, holds more weight, has more internal volume and is intended to get loud. All of these keys require a more sturdy support on anchoring it down. My wall i'm building is anchored to the floor, both side wall frames of the car and will be anchored in the back to the floor and side walls as well. It's to also help with flexing. The less flex the wall does, the louder it will be.

well, you aren't using flares either. Flared ports look ridiculously large so that's probably why.
-
Ya.. remember, i am shoving a large 8"-er in your box.
-
Yours is gonna be the same size, haha.

The enclosure specs itself are fairly decent. In terms of you scared of it acting leaky because the port is so close, no, it will not. Think of it like this- When the sub is put in a volume, regardless of where the port is, the volume is what influences the output capability. The smaller the volume, the more it likes higher notes, the larger the volume, the more it likes lower notes. Where the port is does not change that. However, placing ports in different sides of a box can greatly effect SPL based on firing direction, 1\4 wave theory, time-alignment theory, etc. But it does not negatively effect how the sound is pressurized. Do not think that the sound must "pressurize" and then look for an exit.. Instead, the volume itself influences the SPL capability of your playable range before any sound is even present.. That should change the way you think about it. Now, I hope you properly obtain your desired tuning frequency using a port that large! 6" Aeros are usually always enough for a single 15 for daily FYI.

the midbass should be xovered.. They cant drop as low as subs so it would need a nice ssf on the amp if you didn't have an xover and Sundown amps use nice xovers for purposes like that. However, if you have an amp that doesn't allow SSF to go into the 100s frequency-wise then you would need an external xover. Some midbasses can go very high in the frequency range but ideally you would want to Low pass them as well. If you don't, lightly lower your power usage going to them to compensate for near full range signal source.

I need to know what the outer diameter including jacket is of WS' 4/0 cable. I need to run it through conduit and need to know what size to buy. Certain sizes start escalating prices like crazy

If you own 4/0 Welding cable from WeldingSupply, come in

yea, WS's jacket is 15\16".. so 1" is just barely gonna cut it but it should work. -

He better be goin since SBN is officially CANCELED for him. I got the letter in the mail from his wife.. it was depressing.. So he better be at this show. -

Yep! I love the sport.. If you live on the East Coast, you never know what I might do... I may just spontaneously just go somewhere out of the blue just to do it. When i first got in to competition, i had to learn everything myself, no help from anybody... Still to this day, I have never had anyone help me build any one of my builds... So if i were new to the game, I'd know how much i appreciate getting first hand help.. And that is what i am doing. I have helped many new competitors back in 2010-2011 and I still try to even when i'm not actually there. That's what Team IAK is all about isn't it? I Already Know

If I go, i'll be watching other people watch other people do demos and compete. -
I will answer for all those who are currently not here.. YES, that is what they want, hehe. I had decided to do this a couple years ago but jumped on other things instead. Reduced shipping, ability to DIY, get yourself used to glueing, sealing, building an enclosure, etc... I noticed you say some shipments have had bent panels.. I guess you could package all the panels in a prebuilt 2x4cage. Try and bend that, hehe. 2x4 would be small enough and light enough to not cause a major increase in shipping compared to an already built box.

Ok, i will get material costs in 1 minute or so then text them to you just for reference

Ok, I am taking over this build log for a short period of time, hehe. Sencheezy will be going to his first competition ever next month and my job is to get his install loud. This doesn't mean I am just designing it.. I am actually going to build it here, then drive all the way down to his house, install and fine tune this design all day long prior to the show. Hopefully, he will gain lots of experience and knowledge about competing and how things effect pressure, etc... He is running a single 15" ICON off of an AQ1200d. The competition limitation rules are as follows- Everything must be installed in cargo area ONLY with rear seats capable of locking in upright position. He has SUV so behind 3rd row. No duct tape, no foam, no missing panels, no concrete, etc.. and install must be below the top of seats(not headrest, seat itself) He also is limited by ONLY a 35A fuse (MECA rule). So, we are gonna try to not only get loud but hopefully get 1st place in his class. Soon, i will post up drawing of box i plan on designing. It will be constructed out of Birch and 8 or 10" concrete form tube. This is to allow ease of tuning while i'm there. More details soon..

trust me, one set on main is fine. Only way to run 2 sets on main is to disable surround sound completely and run stereo only. This receiver does NOT offer true surround sound inputs therefore everything is controlled via the DSP. So, honestly, you do not need a real 5.1chan recording. If your settings allow everything to play and it isn't and everything is wired properly, could be defective...

Because it almost damaged your alts?
