Battery Terminals
shizzzon replied to SaxMan's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Do not buy those! u will literally want to kill somebody... they are the worst terminals i've ever used in my life.. I could smack the guy who made them and thought they were good, i'm not lying. Piece of crap... I'd rather own some boss audio subs than to have had those. -
looks like you got a stout electrical bank for what power you will be running. Let me give you a tip when running that many batts. Before your initial use of a battery bank, get an AGM charger and charge each battery up completely. Once they are all connected, about once a week, just check the voltage of your battery bank before you start it up. If the voltage for those batteries are at 12.6-12.7v, u need to throw them back on a charger or you will be risking alt life. All it takes is for 1 battery to drain down lower than the rest for whatever reason and the whole group is suffering. I don't wanna see all that money get wasted so keep a tab on em.

get a dmm and measure voltage at the amps terminals with all speaker wires disconnected. If it's still in protect, contact sundown.

Clipping earlier than before?
shizzzon replied to dale315's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
amps will clip earlier than before if they are being ran at a lower voltage. -

The Official SPL-Labs SPL Meter Group Buy Thread

my sanction, MECA, uses a Termlab... I own a termlab and will be switching to this meter because the Termlab is too much of a hassle to drag out all the time and fragile at that. It is calibrated to be within 0.1db accurate as the termlab all the way up to 175db and as low as 120db. You can get people from anywhere you want and they will still count towards the total group buy quota. But, if they are non-domestic, they must add a $55 shipping fee on top of the current group buy quota pricing for their pricing. This shipping fee should not increase, in fact, it may even be lowered but we won't know for sure until after the group buy is over. Also, ANYBODY you may find that wants one of these meters domestic or non-domestic, we need some sort of contact information from them if they do not have an account here on SSA. We will need at the minimum their email address. -

We are about to allow Anyone in the world to place an order for one of these meters VERY Soon! Shipping prices will, of course, go up but we will be able to ship to Alaska, Hawaii and any other country with the extra shipping fee tacked onto. Estimated additional shipping fee will be $55 per non-domestic order. Any non-domestic order will NOT effect domestic shipping costs. For prices, look back and add $55 to the current group buy quota to know your non-domestic price you will need to pay to have it shipped to your door. B-chi, I will be PM-ing you soon to work out a deal on your special order request. Again, this price is an estimate. If we can save money on your location then we will lower the cost to your door. -

i'll get back with u by friday -
I know some people may not know this or may forget but there is an update to this software that will suppress pressure being read below 20hz. I will note that practically nobody needs to use the update even if the meter was somehow reading 130db @ lets say 10hz because your actual pressure reading at whatever note it is will still be just as accurate as the termlab is. It's just apparent that it does read pressure below that threshold and users have the option of installing the update to prevent that from showing up before you actually meter.. More of a cosmetic update than anything else. It doesn't effect performance with or without the update UNLESS you are metering below 20hz.

Truck off, head unit off, amp on...
shizzzon replied to BanginGMC's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
yea i know, that's why i thought he had it connected to the yellow wire because that's always hot.... but he said he didnt so i want to know if the red wire is still showing a voltage reading when the car is off... If it is... then either that's NOT the ignition wire, or something has been bypassed. -

hmm... measure voltage across that red wire when the car is off. see if u get a reading. -

easy question- What color is the wire that you used that is spliced with the remote wire? It suppose to be RED. If u spliced it with the yellow wire... then there's your problem. -
Fast answers- 1. Yes. 2. No.

This is very true. He was the one who went on his own to get this meter to his door. I like the products this company manufacturers and decided to import these so others could get them too.

I am an intel guy all the way. AMD may post better benchmarks in games STOCK but that's it. Intel is ahead of AMD overall in everything else speed-wise. Also, I do love NVidia and their drivers are far more user friendly than ATI's are... but ATI is cheaper than NVidia and they are both competitive...

Serious voltage drops
shizzzon replied to DiabolicCustoms's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
sorry to say this but look at it from this perspective- That 1500w amp on music should rarely be pulling above 100A and if it does, it's very fast and that's it. your alternator is capable of outputting 110A at idle (supposedly) so for u to be dropping that low means your alternator rating while driving is a lie... Second, if u were to tell me that you had a STOCK alt and a single yellow top in there, dropping that low may be normal... However u have a H.O. (supposedly) Get your dmm out and check to make sure the voltmeter isn't wrong first. If it's not wrong, jam on it for a while then turn it off and measure voltage at alternator, then front battery, then at amp. This allows the wire to heat up to get better voltage drop measurements, if there are any, to see if u have any problem areas. -
Those of you interested, do not forget about the group buy that is in the for sale section! One person already tried to order there's immediately and was referred to the group buy to try and save them money, lol. Funny, but true. The meter has already been used and is quickly responsive but I'll let him tell u all his side since he's so elaborate, hehe.

if u gonna try it, make it more than 1" tall height-wise. I don't know if the air can be felt ALL the way around the opening but allowing only 1" height all the way around is asking for port noise. I'd do at least 3" clearance and make sure the internal box is 3" from the back of the design as well.
