He doesn't know this yet but this is what it's gonna look like after bracing- For your info, here is specs- Final NET- 20.5cuft 4x4s in the corner. angled out at 9x9" in the corners. the middle brace as follows- going from front wall to port wall- glue 3 2x4s together 35.25" long Going from top 2x4 brace to floor on the front wall- glue 2 2x4s together and glue them to the top 2x4 brace, floor and front wall. Do the same for the middle brace, 2 2x4s glued together and glued to top 2x4 brace and floor. For the brace along the back of the port wall- Glue 2 2x4s together (4 total, 2 for each side) Once all 4 are glued together(2 thick pieces now), attach them to the back of the port wall, sides of box and the main 2x4 brace. These 2x4s need to be turned so the 3.5" wide side is vertical so u can get the most surface area of the 2x4s attached to the back port wall. The 3.5" width of the 2x4s are used on the front wall. the 3.5" width of the 2x4s are used on the underside of the top piece.

Anybody running Audiopipe amps?
shizzzon replied to turbowrx15's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
ur audiopipe uses capacitors to push transducers so the impedance can change normally resulting in the amperage decreasing but the voltage hopefully constant... ALL Audiopipe lines that start with AP are good amps. The AP1500 has angled connectors which suck but besides that.. I have also seen power graphs conducted by the buildhouse. AP amps are rated @1%THD Output power @0.7%THD has a 13% reduction in power. Output power @0.3%THD has a 23% reduction in power. Example- AP1500w 1500w @1ohm @14.4v @1%THD 1305w @1ohm @14.4v @0.7%THD 1155w @1ohm @14.4v @0.3%THD -

he isnt' waiting on me anymore.. for the most part.. All he needs me to do is the bracing but thats a little ways from now... He was actually begging me to get him the new dimensions when he sold his last vehicle and got this van. and since all the wood was\is already cut.. all he has to do is glue and wait...
-
it actually may be bigger than 20cuft net... Right now it's at 23.1cuft after ALL displacement MINUS bracing... It's my design and decision to determine how much NET volume we will have left... Right before he gets done with the box, we will know what NET volume will be. I believe low tuning is 30hz but additional plugging is allowed to let it drop below 30hz easily...

New Crescendo amps FTMFW!!!!!!!
shizzzon replied to edouble101's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
u have a potential point since it seems that they may not even be tested prior to shipping to customer. NOT THAT I AM RIGHT.. just an assumption... I am allowed to purchase them now as long as i do it soon before they really really really really really really really do get here. -

honestly just for sake of us talkin about crescendo... I'm thinkin about purchasing 4 5500ds soon for my next build... I currently have 6 AQ3500ds (old model) that i am selling because of wiring configuration, i will be able to get a LOT more power out from the crescendos. We estimate ~1500A of current draw at full tilt on actual power. It's gonna be a neasty build in the Scion this year. -

shizzzon replied to edouble101's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Crescendo produces it's power at a lower voltage and at far less THD making it capable of putting out a LOT more power when clipped. AQ does it's power @14.4v @1%thd Crescendo does it's power @13.8v @0.3%thd... big difference. You'd be surprised of the BC3500d actually does the same if not better than a new AQ3500d.1 based on what i just said. -
I use only Knu wire.
-
Dont' worry man.. If u did all the wiring yourself and know exactly where and how everything is connected and fused, u fine. Hell, my last install, people thought i was gonna have a fire.. looks can be deceiving but i install safety first, performance second. Here is a pic of my last install electrical-

New Crescendo amps FTMFW!!!!!!!
shizzzon replied to edouble101's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
i'm not even referring to a low impedance but i can see why u said that because that may be typical reason for amps to go in protect. I've personally witnessed more than 2 of these amps go in protect with absolutely nothing playing.. Clipped signal has sent few i've seen in protect.. Gotta be honest, most people clip their setups but to go in protect because of it when it's too harsh is odd.. There is power to be had and it doesn't wanna give it to us. -

Sorry but I have personally had experience with several setups that all involved sundown amp problems. they are too protection happy. Can't have that in the lanes.. If the price of Crescendo scares people.. then why aren't you sundown guys running Critical Mass? The way the point was put, if it's cheaper in price, then it must not be as as good.. that was funny. Now i know a couple of guys that have never had problems either. But from me being in the comp scene.. there are other amps that stand a lot stronger and stay on. -
ok, well, if u take the install out of the equation.. now u must "ASSUME" that ALL info put into the software (The T/S parameters manually and automated) are 100% correct... Also, take winISD for example. Even if every single T/S parameter were right, it's still possible for the software to graph wrong. Some things are not taken into consideration. Material used to build box, how it was built, how it's sealed, the sizing of the port(if any), where the port and driver are located, input signal quality, etc... the short answer is- ANYTHING is possible.. So to ask if u knew u built it right and all T/S parameters are right and you weren't pleased, either something happened or you do not like the taste.
-
yes it's easily possible... There is human error when building the box comparing it to the "graph" u did in software... there is also where and how it's fired in the environment. Different things around the firing area can\will effect the outcome of it. In a car, the vehicle's enclosed volume will drastically change the environment of the install which will severily alter a flat response IF one existed in an open area.

.5 ohm stable
shizzzon replied to james0223's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
either something has FAILED or you are reading it wrong. you need to stop driving your car if it's really running at 16v before u damage the battery... If you are running a 14v batt.. then 16v is too low to charge it. Also, running at 0.5 ohms can kill the coils for daily. -
Red Oak Grade-C vs Birch Grade-C vs Sandeply
shizzzon replied to shizzzon's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
I'm bout to get home and checkout this site. Yes, even though Birch grade-C isn't void-free, some stiffness rating showed it was still stronger than mdf... unless the rating was for grade-A? I don't know -
All 3 of these can be found at Home Depot. The goals i'm looking for is the best stiffness, yet no heavier than MDF (96lbs). All sheeting would be 3\4". I read and read about these sheets and i can't get any concrete info about them... I would have also done a vs Arauco but i cannot get that around here.

thats not dual ported.. that's a folded horn design.

there u go! that's enough power to test it.. Any timeframe on when u expect to have urs on there? Also.. when is the new CNCs gonna be ready to make these new cases?
