So right now I am planning out my system. It is going to be about 2600 watts total, using either RF, Kicker, or Sundown amps. I have a 160 amp alt now as well as the stock 730 ampere battery. Of course I will be doing the big 3 upgrade. I am almost certain I may need another little battery just in case, a smaller Kinetik or so. What are the chances of me needing a bigger alt?

Curious, is this an actual blowthrough or are you gonna put a camper shell on it and make a wall. I am curious cause that was something I was also lookin at doing but never got around to.

So, now that my friends vehicle is out of my hair, I have a quick question about mine. I listen to almost pure rap, love it. I love SPL big time, all the vibrations, shaking of the vehicle, etc. Would a 12" ported BTL be the best bet for me? It is obviously going in a car, so room is..well, eh. Or would something like a couple Q's be better in the long run? Right now, I am considering the single BTL. Now this is gonna be a stupid one for ya, which Fi sub compares to RF T1's? I have a dispute that continues now and am curious. Thanks....hope I win this fight, lol.

lol, seriously. I am about to post another thread for advice for my girls car. Thanks for the help with his vehicle. I will try and get some pics of it once we settle this crap. I get stuck with this cause of my carpentry skills, that is about all I am good for when it comes to subs, lol.

Me and my friend are about to hook his car up with some Fi subs. We are unsure of what really seperates ported from sealed and how power makes a big difference. Right now we are lookin at 3 Q 10's sealed, 2 Q 12's ported, or a 12" BTL ported. Q's will get 1k watts each, the BTL 3k to 4k watts. We listen to everything from heavy metal to rap. What we are lookin for is a rough idea of how each of these setups will differ in every aspect. I know it sounds like a lot and we are grateful for it. He says he may wanna compete in something with it later, so that is something we need to keep in mind. Any help or suggestions would be great.

Sadly enough, space sucks. We are only lookin at about 3cu ft before port, this way he can still get to his spare easily if need be. After a heated arguement tonight, I got him to think hard about it all. He still wants his space so he is gonna go with 2 12's sealed and hope for the best.
-
How much SPL can 2 12's sealed produce? I know that is an almost impossible question to answer, lol. He wants more vibrations than my 2 P3's ported produce, I do know that. I will have to sit down with him and ask some questions of what exactly he wants, i know he loves lots of vibrations.
-
Whew, no way that will work. Unfort. he does not have nearly enough room for that and still have room for storage. He also gave up on the idea of competition and just wants it to be loud. SO, we are on our last debate of 2 10's ported or 1 12. It will probably be the 2 10's due to cone area. Thanks for the help, we almost jumped in over our heads thinkin we had enough room. I am just happy I talked him out of 2 10" RF T1's to go with Fi.

Thanks for the help, I will have to take measurements again and see if we can't fit 2 12's in there ported without taking up to much room. How big of a box is needed for 2 12's? Is it 1.8 cu ft per sub, so 3.6 cu ft total then 12" port area per cu ft of box?
-
Looks like 2 12's ported. We are trying to keep it to where he can still have room to put some stuff back there if he has to run out on a business trip. I am sure 2 12's will fit ported in the big back part of the trunk. Chrysler 300.....I just found out he listens to nothing but rap when I am not around, so two 12's I am sure will do better unless you think a 15" Q or BL ported will fit better and work better for him?
-
On a positive note, sound wise I wouldnt know, but that is gonna look like a pimp system to the eye. Good luck and hope it all works for ya.
-
Unless he is going for things like MOPAR and NOPI shows, in which the total package is what is looked at, not just looks.
-
I gotta see pics of this get-up. It is gonna be sweet.

ouch, that was supposed to be a poll wasn't it? Same thing happened to me a few days ago.

I have to find something to put in the trunk of my girls new car. Sadly, I already forgot what she has, came home with it today out of the blue. HUGE....MASSIVE......TRUNK. This thing looks like it can fit 2 spare tires flat it it. 2 15" Q's sealed 1 15" BTL 2 12" BLs 2 12" Q's ported
-
No budget at all, she isn't to sure if she wants SQ or straight SPL, so I thought I would ask here to see if majority rules or what everyone thinks. She never lets me do things my way, she likes what everyone else thinks....typical females I have dated.
-
I may be wrong, not sure as to the overall layout of the car....but didn't he say he wanted to keep his spare tire in the trunk also...no amps under there for him I wouldnt think.

So I have been browsing around for some decent amps to push 4 18" BTL's and cant make up my mind. Does anyone know if the Soundstream XXX-6500D amp is any good???

Ok, I have posted several things in the past asking question to help me with my own vehicle setup, now for something a little off the wall. I am getting ready to have to write a thesis and would love to write it on the mathematics behind subwoofers, car audio, etc. As you can tell from my previous posts I don't have to much of an idea of the all-around idea of mathematics. I was wondering if ya'll could point me in the right direction for anything regarding any type of mathematics behind car audio, etc. Again I know this is a odd request, but I researched every major mathematics college and no paper has ever really been written about this from a college student and would love to be the first to do it. Any help would be great....THANKS. Mathman not to sure what exactly i want to write about in this field, so anything at this point is great.

Hell freakin yeah I am Jason!!!! I plan on learning everything I can little by little till I can do this all myself. I am tired of paying a butt load for some POS installer to do the work. I want to finally do this so I can say I can do something besides crunch some stupid numbers or work on computers/write programs. I am gonna be the next world SPL champ....LOL. Probably not, but still, you know how it be. I am sure I will start learning plenty with all the work on this paper. Tell your sister I said hey Jason.............................................mmmmmmmm. -

Wow. I honestly never would have imagined there could be so much out there. I am gonna have a field day going through all of this stuff, LOL. I really like the port idea along with speaker excursion in regards to frequency....thanks TEJ. Also, thanks everyone for all the input on where I can find info, I am sure it will greatly help. I may just run to the bookstore tomorrow and see about ordering the loudspeaker design cookbook. Mathman -

Yeah. I will be getting a 300 amp alt, maybe a second shortly after. Big 3 upgrade, and about 6 Kinetic 2400 batteries. -
I know a guy that has two 15" XXX's and another that has a couple 12" Q's (just met). They are completely different in every imaginable way. IMHO, I can't stand the XXX's, think they sound like crap; but could be the install! The XXX should be compared to something such as the BTL. XXX is a SPL sub whereas the Q is much more SQ. Powerhandling of the two are also different. I am sure someone will post more info regarding everything. Almost forgot, loved the guy with the Q's setup, sounded great!!!!!!!
