    One terminal reading odd

Had this issue with a broken connection before. Well not really broken, but I just undid the solder, undid the push terminal, sprayed some contact cleaner and resolder ed and it fixed the issue.

Definitely more of a social event more than anything to a lot of us. Feel free to observe some people and ask questions. You'll get a lot more tips at shows than here cause at least you'll be able to try them on the mic at a show vs having to wait. I've made the AC mistake before so you're not alone! lol

2005 tahoe road to 150+ db

SS around 20, LPF around 80 is my personal preference. Honestly it should be to where you think it sounds best and nothing we can really say without listening.

I would like to post build log, but paste won't work...

That is one cool looking trunk build!

Not usually, cuz of efficiency and all. We wished that everytime that we halfed impedence wattage doubled, but no. It does handle rise better, but that still varies with frequency bandwidth of music played.

For never having done it before, it's not as bad as what people are making it out to be. When you were searching for your peak frequency did you have the system full throttle or was it around half volume? Reason I ask is because I sit and watch at every show while they do clinics (testing for peak frequency) and people are going full tilt just to find their frequency and by the time they get remotely close their dipping down to below 10 volts because they've drained the batteries about dry. I would definitely do your best with the sealing the box off to the trunk the best you can as that will be the biggest gain you'll likely see for the least amount of money. Headrest scores are harder because it is a traveling wave vs a standing wave that most would meter at in the kick or on the windshield. You have no reflections in your favor and it is pure bass that is measured.
  8. Make sure you ask if he has any b stock. I saved about 100$I'm jealous of the price. I was unaware of b-stock pricing. Make sure to take pics so I can see if there's any big differences in blemishing. Mine were scuffed after the install anyways.

With that equipment a 140 should be easy out the gate unless it is something terribly wrong with the install.Hate to be the one to agree, but I did a 140.5 with the equipment in my sig in a Neon. Something isn't right.Edit: Never updated my score in my sig, but it's on the MECA website in 2012, if you want to look it up. I guess since everything is subject to criticism then I'd say your score was low too. This was the guys first ever time on the mic. With the information given I am to assume he didn't really know his peak frequency since he claimed to be tuned @ 28hz and metered at 43hz. Hell my first time on the meter I got a 143.8 with a single 15" Obsidian on an AQ2200 at 2 ohm in a pre-fab. Check MECA website in 2013 if you want to look that up in AS2. Truth is as a competitor I'm glad the OP has come out and gotten his system metered because the sport has been in a slow decline over the past 20 years. Every competitor we can get is a new challenge to me. I'm sure he knows that he can do better and I believe he can as well. I just hope he sticks it out and keeps coming to the shows and gets louder each time. *** after edit *** OP - after reading this it had me go back to check my progress with last years numbers. They increased each show mostly lol Just keep up the work and you'll keep gaining. Show 1 - 143.8db Show 2 - 144.9db Show 3 - 145.0db Show 4 - 146.9db Show 5 - 146.8db (Not sure what happened here lol) Show 6 - 147.0db Show 7 - 146.1db (Tried metering on a different side at this show with no 2nd run) Show 8 - 147.7db You guys get so defensive on here. Nobody said the score was low and nobody criticized. I simply stated with that equipment a 140 out the trunk should be easy regardless your first time. Plain and simple, nothing more nothing less.Sorry for cluttering up your thread OP. Any pics or videos of your setup? There are a number of things to try to gain the next time your on the meter: closed air vents, open glove box, moving seats around, visors down, among other things. But sealing the trunk from the cabin should help out as well, have fun with the chasing dbs man. Any goals with numbers you want to reach. By saying "something is terribly wrong with your install" that is the way it comes off without offering any help. This was more directed towards the second response telling him his score instead of helping out at all. I simply did the same thing to show him how it felt except I went in to detail. Sure, he should be louder. He also didn't give the full rundown of everything he did to try and get the score. I actually give you props for giving him those little hints as well, but if he's in meca he has to have his headrests in their respective positions and glove box has to remain closed. Those others are good though. We, don't get those benefits in our sanction like others. I will ask the obvious though. OP, what wire are you using for your runs from front to back and what batteries are you running? I have a feeling this could help out some.

    What's the difference?

DC isn't the easiest to spot differences for. lvl 2 - double stack mag 2.5" coil lvl 3 - triple stack 3" coil lvl 4 - triple stack slightly larger diameter mag 3" coil lvl 5 - triple stack even larger diameter mag 3.5" coil 8" spiderpack (Older m1 variant had 3" I believe) lvl 6 - another triple stack 4" coil 9" spiderpack xl - confusion from making a good sub from the rest? eh, another triple stack mag 3" coil 8" spiderpack It's like this company was confused in heading a certain direction with subs so they made all of their experiments line choices. Oh, not to mention they let you mix/match parts to make your own subs as well. Then they have had m1 and m2 variants as well. Also the dustcaps either look good or hideous. I need a Jackie Chan confusion meme for this one...
  14. Perhaps switching the speaker leaders on the outputs is in order
  15. Recones permitting I'll be going as well. If I can't I'll sabotage an amp before you leave fucker!

    Ethos and Trident preorder

I believe you are confusing layaway with paying up front. Right now the drivers are in pre-order and if my mind serves me correctly it doesn't matter if you pay in total or layaway, you get the pre-order price. If you wait until after the drivers are in to start an order then you pay more since the drivers are out of the pre-order phase. Pre-order simply implies the drivers are not in hand and are due in stock at a later date (Which is explained) Even at retail these are still one of the best bang/buck subs available today!

    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

I once ate fried chicken while drinking watermelon soda and eating grapes. I was confused. Had my hot sauce on my chicken so it restored the balance though.

    I'll just leave this here.....

Dammit, we can't have nice things around here. lol Saw your build elsewhere. Glad you posted it up here cause I really liked it with both the zed amps and JBL amp. I was doing further investigation on those little amps and seen where they allow a tri-way style strapping config. Really cool stuff.

That's great news. 40 out of a trunk on first try ain't bad at all!
  21. I am curious to see if anyone else runs in to this issue and what might resolve it. I currently run a Pioneer PRS80 after selling one and getting another one i've noticed this same issue with both decks. Once I go pass a certain volume on the deck the bass itself makes the USB seem to disconnect from the unit for a quick second. Cycling through the source options and choosing the USB after turning down the volume lets it play again. I've seen others using this deck in loud systems and I wanted to see if they had the same issue and what they might have done to resolve it. I've swapped USB extensions from the rear of the head unit from 1 to 2 and swapped the USB extension all together. I will be running a dedicated Ipod cable to find out if it does it to the Ipod individually, but in the mean time I just wanted to hear feedback of others in 150db+ vehicles.

    Pioneer USB disconnecting from bass

I don't consider myself an extreme audiophile like some, but I dabble in quite a few loss-less files and bluetooth defeats the purpose of them all together. Not to mention Using an old ipod video and usb jump drives are tons more handy with jumping in and going than having to sync up every time. Plus I don't like taking calls on hands free at all.

    nadcicle's 97 Suburban rebuild

I think after doing my calculations I will pass on this so someone else can benefit from that deal. The 12's i'm using cover much more area over the 2 vs having to use 4 of the 8's. I'd actually have to end up using 5 of the 8's and they would still need to be lengthen'd so I don't tune too high. I thought about this afterwards and should have said something then. I really do appreciate you taking the time and those look like they could make some damn good ports. Thanks man!
