advice on on 18inch subs that will handle 6k whatts need new ones
nadcicle replied to toxicmods's topic in Newbie Sign IN
Lol @ I saw someone selling some of those on classifieds Yah, but nobody is ever worthy of actually "owning" one. Let's be realistic for a moment. The Funky Pup in all its mythical glory shouldn't be owned by any one person as its destructive tendencies are capable of leveling entire villages on a single burp. I have seen it decimate cars and watched people writhe in agony under its sheer power. It is said that one of these were set off many years ago near what was known as Hiroshima only to level the entire place. It is obvious that if the OP can't install his own equipment then I feel we cannot entrust our most kept secret to him. Imagine the look on the installers face when they found out what they have. -
Sometimes buying used has its advantages. However, there is a great feeling of being the first to apply power too. Those damned decisions lol. I'm sure you will be glad you waited.

Light dimming
nadcicle replied to grumby21's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
There are going to be a few factors other than replacing wire and an alternator to know why you're dimming. I'm sure giving this information would help out. This might be more extensive to some, but it'll help to answer the question. 1) The amp you use 2) The way the amp's gain is set 3) How are the sub(s) wired and to what ohm load 4) What batteries do you use and the amount if applicable 5) Was the alternator an upgrade or exact replacement. (helps to know amperage) 6) How well is your ground? 7) Are you grounded to the front battery or chassis? (If chassis did you sand the contact spot?) -

New Q 12 barely plays and bottoms out on low volume
nadcicle replied to Chris Duncan's topic in Fi Technical
With the sound of bottoming out with low gain i'd venture to throw in the fact that you mentioned damaged shipping and make a theory that there could be possible former separation and the cone is smacking against it. Maybe even spider landing separation. Then again out of phase sounds good too. Either way I wouldn't play it until I had it outside of the box and checked each coil individually and test the functionality of the sub thoroughly before putting it back in the box at this point. -
Well, I can definitely understand if it's been 3 times. This is number 2 for me. First time he didn't even troubleshoot until after it was sent back. He just upped me from a 270 to 300. This time he was able to get the alt back on 4/4/2013 and found out the issue was a faulty internal regulator (would only charge under extreme rpm above 4k and only until it reached 14.7volts then would drop again). He then shipped it back out and it was out for delivery 4/9/2013. However, Fedex dropped the ball and says "attempt not made" on the tracking. We will see this time if this thing lasts at all. From my understanding there have been a few people that have been successful in getting refunded so you wouldn't have any losses. I'd give it a shot. I honestly wouldn't touch anything less than 6 phase hairpin after going through all this crap unless i had extras laying around. I mean if you run quad alts or something it would be worth it, but if you are just replacing a single alt then I'd prolly say Mechman or DC all day. Gonna have to agree fully man. I have tried to stand by the company but failure after failure is ridiculous. Same here, upped me from a 270 to 300 for my buick at no charge. But then again, thinkning of all the time I have spent taking off and putting on alts, its just not worth it anymore. Im gonna have to bite the bullet and admit to my wife she was right about the company from the beginning......joy! Can you elaborate on 6 phase hairpin? I'm actually in the middle of getting mine back from Tenney. Sounds like it could be a fishy regulator as well. I would see at what RPM's make the alt start charging and it could definitely be resolved with an overdrive pulley if it isn't something too high. I would say if it starts charging around 800-1000 rpm then an overdrive would pick up the slack. I'd have to ask if you know whether or not your vehicles alt is internally regulated or external by your vehicles computer. That would be the big determining factor on if you could use another external regulator as well.

nadcicle replied to silenkiller's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I am actually going to be doing something similar to the first pic with an SP4. I haven't made up my mind on whether to reverse mount or not though. I personally think a Zcon would like awesome in a setup like this, but then again so would an Xcon since you aren't in to having a crap ton of power. Either will play lows with authority if boxed sufficiently. In the end it's up to your pocket and the way you like the look of the magnet if you're going for looks. -
Senchez, I have one coming in from DX soon for the tiny blueberry. You should wait until I get this installed to see if it's worth it or not. It was only like 25 bucks.

Looking for a Replacement
nadcicle replied to Exclusiveastheycome Lewis's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
The 990 is an all new unit for 2013. The difference between the DNX9980HD vs DNX9990HD is honestly a head scratcher for me. I guess the biggest change is the 990HD is supposed to run a heavily modified version of android OS. The list would be like this DNX9980HD (2011) --> DNX9990HD (2012) --> DNN990HD (Now) -

Kenwood KDC X996 Gets super hot quick
nadcicle replied to fred57's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'm curious to see if you found the issue and I wanted to add in some more thoughts. I know when i set the gain on the amp I made sure the HU Sub gain was set to 0. I also use the sub gain on -15 daily. I can't even get mine to get hot so maybe your unit is defective. I keep mine set to 80hz as well so that's out. Last I would check continuity throughout the RCA with a DMM to make sure you aren't getting anything unwanted coming through the line. -

I've heard alot of good after the CES event with the switching of the GUI helping things out as well as making the unit just outright faster as well. -
How to - Secure Speakers and Subwoofers Correctly - T Nuts / Blind Nut
nadcicle replied to mklett33's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
I have never seen a hurricane nut installed. I have always used t-nuts over them. You wouldn't by chance have a video of someone installing one properly by chance would you? Youtube has failed me on showing me this. I am interested in this.
