Any double din active head units?
nadcicle replied to smashedz28's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
To hell with you ///M5 .. ffs your boat sounds better than my car im sure haha Out of curiosity, what was your purpose for running 2 of them? Anything similar to my reasoning above by chance? -
Don't go pumpin his head up! Senchez, your front stage ain't shit! lol

Any double din active head units?
nadcicle replied to smashedz28's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
This is another option I was talking about with a friend recently. Anything wrong with running 2 of the 2x4's in the event I wanted to still have the option to fade/balance from the headunit and keep mids and horns separate on the front side. I probably wouldn't even imagine the necessity to run the sub channel through one of these (tell me why i should if you think i should). I can see myself cutting some plexi and running them all in the same box is why i ask and you can pickup the bare 2x4 for like 80 bucks. Sorry, didn't mean to derail -
Any double din active head units?

I second the nx702. It seems to be the only full active dd from all the research I've done. I have a dnx9990hd and want to make the switch myself, but I can't justify because I have one issue and it is the ability to turn volume up and down fast when you want to roll in to burps. The Kenwood is so slow I hate it for that one reason. It's not because it's Kenwood though since my 996 single din has no issues. I assume it's just hardware/software related. The Kenwood does have signs of active as you can set curves and cutoffs on 1 end of spectrum though. -
I like all the good news. I'm glad they got a home. Score on the walking lawn mower Btw!

Hahaha I will do my best that sucks though guys... Hope you get everything back up and running agian. On a side note I painted the port, and put some sexy long black fur like fabric on the box. Pics soon. Always been a fan of furry boxes. Awaiting pics *toe taps*

IMO I think you'd be cheaper off selling for around 600 and getting an NS1 or 5k and getting another of those later on.

Holy hell. Ok, so after hearing that please for the love of god SacredTanakh please take all precautionary actions so it doesn't make you a third haha.

I drove over to Swifts and picked it up on an impulse buy cause my wife kept bugging me about getting louder than me.. Funny thing is her car is currently louder than my truck because I blew an amp in a strapped setup.

This is awesome you guys. You realize we all installed a Fully loaded 18" Sp4 almost exactly 2 weeks apart from eachother? Coincidence perhaps, but still cool as hell.
-
You ever get any numbers from this by chance? As someone running a lot smaller size I am curious of the output on the same amp I have as well.

It was pretty quiet when I saw it. Yah, you missed Slamology. I wish you would have made that. It really was an IAK event. We had that bish on lock with all the members there lol. I have plans to bring both vehicles next year. The burban towing the elantra will be a site to see. I feel like it's going to be just like Jason with his Alero lol. When I as out Chuck was removing his subs to sell right in the parking lot. No doubt he is loud as all IAK guys are except Shizzon. I know right? Don't worry though he'll get there again

Got cut short on the flex vid thanks to annoying texts. I will make sure to make another some time in the near future.

Couple videos as well.

Was told I needed to update this with some updated pics. Still not done as I am awaiting my other amp to come back from repair. Hence the wire laying all over the place.

Yah I know this feeling very well! Sounds like nickels in a coffee can. The crossmembers supporting the roof are made from some of the thinnest metal ever. I've covered up with bedsheets that feel more secure.

Thanks man, I'm hoping it sounds at least as good as it looks I am pretty sure it will. As another that loves tuning to 31hz I can say that I absolutely love it!

Both are extremely nice vehicles. I've personally only had a handful of classics in my life. 72 nova Rally edition (396 stroked to 461 swap), 76 olds 88 (455), and my first car was an 83 buick lesabre . Of course my nova was just a beast that I bought on an impulse after watching a gentleman put it in the wall at the strip. Part of me wouldn't mind trying a truck out for once to be honest.

The Characteristics of Net Volume and Port Area
nadcicle replied to Sencheezy's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
I expect the vid to be uploaded via 12k with 128.1 surround sound by the year 2028 as that is the only thing my bionic eye will play in. Stupid google and their peripherals!- 48 replies

Ok, this is exactly what I was saying too. So we do all seem to agree with each other then. I am going to call a holy crap session as this is a first here on SSA. We usually have at least 1 guy that comes in just to disagree with everything that's said on here because his cousins friends dad build a box for his kicker solo baric and it didn't do what we said it was going to do.- 48 replies

Definitely looks pretty beastly. Here is my enclosure for reference.

The Characteristics of Net Volume and Port Area
nadcicle replied to Sencheezy's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
Most of the information above was in taken from my SSA Evil. Which has a high xmax value. I have a low score in my current setup, which is 8.3 net with only 130cuin of port tuned at 33hz. I am completely flat from 30hz to 50hz. After 50hz it begins to slightly lose output, but anything below 30hz I have a really big dip in output. I ask these questions becuase almost every program I've used, suggests that I use at least 180cuin of port. Which is far more than what I have. And I believe that the programs are correct because right now I don't believe I am reaching max xmax. Which is crazy because of how much power I am applying (5500 watts). So, this all ties in because, as stated above, my theory is that I have too little port area combined with the power I am utilizing. I am "assuming", that thet too little port area combined with high power is causing me to "choke" the air that is being displaced. Or in other terms, I have too much water pressure to get through the water hose. Can you give an example of what you're saying?ockquote>Don't need to, your on the right track having a larger enclosure is more efficient and also opening up the port will help release more pressure from the enclosure helping you get Max excursion easier. You do have to be careful with how much you do open the port with your enclosure being as large as it is though so you don't run into mechanical issues. At 180in. Sq I think you'll be just fine and should net you some great gains. No, larger ports do not allow the driver to hit xmax easier. Top pic 2'' port. Bottom pic 6'' port. The top lines in both graphs are group delays and the bottom lines are excursion at each power lever. Very clear no noticeable difference in xmax. Again only slight ripple shift due to FS change. Come on guys this book is only like 30 bucks shipped to your door. I understand what your saying, but science doesn't agree. Make an enclosure with a stupid large port and watch what the subwoofer does, then make the exact same enclosure and make the port area really small and again watch the subwoofer. They will react differently in the same enclosure with same tuning, but having a port opening on opposite ends of the spectrum I'm assuming you are saying the one with the small port will move more cause I believe that's what I'm gathering from what's being said.- 48 replies

I do believe that the port size does serve a direct correlation with the xmax along with box size. In my personal tests I've found that a smaller box/smaller port will yield more travel than a larger enclosure/larger port. The problem with this is that going larger net/smaller port tends to drop tuning (if you keep port wall the same common size) and doesn't let the suspension travel as far due to having a much larger enclosure to reverberate through. You put a high xmax sub in a tiny box/tiny port and watch that thing leap out the box. All of this is simply in terms of xmax travel and nothing to do with tuning so much btw. Hell, in most peoples eyes what I've done with my Sp4 would be considered blasphemy in terms of the tiny port/tiny enclosure, but I'd be willing to let them build me another enclosure if they thought they could do better with my space constraints. Perfect example of how to tune in real life. Put both hands over your mouth like you're beatboxing. Make your hands smaller and larger and bring your voice as low as you can to as high as you can between making your hands smaller and larger and see where you find the most sound comes out. It's reasons like this people sound like a superstar in an enclosed shower and William Hung on the mic.- 48 replies
