Pretty decent scores there. With your setup most people would aim for a street 2 or 3 point system and see how long they can hold fuses. As for park and pound I would see how long fuses would last at db3. Just out of curiosity do you know what your peak is 6 feet away already or not? I peak at 33 hz doors open inside the car, but it drops about 1 or 2 hz outside the car. My current high is 147 @ head and 125.7 park and pound. I do need to step up my batteries for sure though as im running a stock up front and a single d3100 in back. I start above 128 in db2 and drop extremely fast because I have no reserve or upgraded alternator.

Good idea. Oh as a heads up. The alternator from the 07-10 models do in fact work on our cars. I got the excessive alternator Saturday and installed today. I had to swap the internal voltage regulator on it and it works with a single flaw. The flaw is that it needs at least about 850 rpm to start charging. When I found this out I was slightly pissed because the pulley on it now is so tiny I feel like it couldn't possibly get smaller. I did a little tweaking and my car idles around 800 rpm and I can start charging with a tap of the gas though.

What is it that you don't like? It kinda sounds like you were shooting for red from the previous statement is why I ask. Maybe some ambient lighting will help just a little bit. Not to the point where it looks blinding, but just a slight glow where you can't see the bulbs themselves.

Yah, those wire brushes eat right through spider. However, you could do like Quentin told me to do and use CA remover and let it sit. Of course i already had the brushes at that point and went ahead and used em.

Not sure if my method will work for you, but a short trip to harbor freight and this is what worked for me. Of course this was with a drill. If you have a rotozip or air tool you can attach this to then it'll be a lot better to handle.

Sweet! Definitely let me know all info on enclosure, power, tuning, & port area as well. Those baskets are too sexy not to wait on them for the 18's

Sorry, deleted as I missunderstood pricing schema.

Yah, ive seen you mention the X's a couple times then the Quentin specials on here. What gives? This ain't no buffet, get your stuff and work son!

Got a guy down here in Nashville with 2 of the 12's in IAK sir. He went from 2 sa's to the x's and loves how they hit the lows. He is still using the same amp and enclosure at the moment and noticed a 1db drop, but a much larger frequency range in the low end. He lost to me at the June James show lol 6/23/2013 June Jams James Long TN AS2 143.60 8 8/18/2013 Bluegrass Bangin VI James W Long TN AS2 142.60 10

LOOKING FOR SEASONED COMPETITORS FOR R&D
nadcicle replied to Quentin Jarrell's topic in Direct Sound Solutions
Wouldn't mind helping, but this is only my first year running MECA although I am first in my class in points :/ Besides needing help what enclosure perimeters are expected for this sub (18") just out of curiosity? -
It's not sagging hardly at all. I do know when I swap out for the wall that I will be adding support myself. Personally I will be doing air bags on a switch if I go that far instead of air shocks since I'm not one to rely on having to hit up every gas station in the event of a leak to add more air.

Sounds like you have all your bases covered. Have fun destroying the car.

FFS everyone knows these are way to classy to be at walmart. I expect Target to start pre-orders soon.

I will for sure let you know how the voltage regulator swap goes because I know for certain that the regulator is removable and they make alts for the newer model elantras. I'll be the first to tell you that our hatchbacks absolutely hate bass and tail lights and rear windshield wipers. My damn wiper flaps all over the place and I have the full intention of removing it all together cause I shred the blade off it the moment I replace it. I replace tail lights regularly as well at the rate of twice a month. I keep saying the next time they blow I will just replace them with LED's. The rubber gasket around the hatch is also shredding to pieces as well. To be honest though creating a system just to destroy your car is kinda messed up as your car doesn't deserve it. Just an FYI, the box I built for my 18 was considered "too small" in most aspects as after port and displacements it was right at 6.34 cuft with only 63.75 cuin of port so right at 10 cuin per foot tuned to 31hz. Just remember that for most 18's this will be too small and you want as much room as possible. The only way to really achieve any more room was building the box angled at a slope up towards the trunk, but then you have to drop it fast because the hatch slams on it. I really maxed out on mine and if I had it to do over i'd have probably built it with the intention of making it just like a trunk car with with sub forward port forward and making a fascia to seal off the sides.

This is a good thing if you tune as low as i do. My windshield flopped all over the place when I went port forward.
-
So much room in that taurus. Should definitely be fun to work with.

Hell yah, put in work and it keeps going up!

You live in Arizona? For the love of god don't lose your AC lol. I believe excessive amperage makes an alternator for our cars as well. Funny thing is the alternator casing all the way up to like 2009 is the same casing but just looks to be a different voltage regulator. I have a guy bringing one to me next week from an 07 3 pin elantra and I will attempt to swap the voltage regulator from my current alternator which is 2 pin. As for the sub. You could say i'm bias and say go with a single 18", but my build log speaks for itself. It really is a shoehorn trying to get any kind of space and staying below the seats and make it looks good. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/topic/59791-2005-elantra-hatch-fi-sp4-build/

From a fellow elantra HB tidal wave blue owner. Respect! Love the setup!

You've been reading in the wrong places.Buy urself a copy http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/1882580478/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new Best book you could own for audio. I refer to it daily. I recently picked up a copy. Gonna put in on my tablet to read when i poop -
It's cause these things are super sensitive to the slightest of clipping. I can smell it up quick with an Aq2200 no problem. Sure I'm running half ohm and that doesn't help either. Truth is I don't play mine hard unless I demo for someone. I mainly burp at a show and turn the gain know down to listening volume. You get that alt thing worked out and it should help whenever you're above 1700 rpm for sure.

Nope the ts parameters don't lie on the zcons. I still argue with someone that went from a 15"zcon to an 18"evil that the Zcon sounded so much better throughout anything he played. That does NOT mean that the evil doesn't sound good, but man does than Zcon just handle anything and keep on going.
