I wouldn't say Big Jon's is massive by any means. I say it's just right. Definitely awesome. Now when we see a wall go in, then start getting intimidated lol

Check out my review on the sub on his site. I'm a happy camper.

Dual leads for 1 Oh and that coil looks black anodized vs the shiney copper we are used to. Perhaps a trident/magnetar style sub is in the works?

You will NOT be disappointed! -
2nd place in dbDrag 4000watt limit class.

In a way they sorta ARE rocket boosters!

Question about 15" ethos port area?
nadcicle replied to osiris10012's topic in Direct Sound Solutions
You have 1 purpose.. demolish. Open your doors and go full tilt and I'm sure we will have different cone control. It truly is about the build we go for. I really do want to get a demo from yours one day. -
Question about 15" ethos port area?
nadcicle replied to osiris10012's topic in Direct Sound Solutions
I understand your confusion as I had the same thoughts when building my enclosure. I'm not sure of too many subs that want close to half area of their own surface area. The look on peoples faces when I should them my ports on my enclosure is priceless. 4 15's with 2 12" round ports and peoples first words are "that's too much" then I have to explain that the sub specs actually want closer to 75 and they just flat out don't believe me. So even though I'm using 56 per I will say I think that it is just right. -
Dude that's awesome.

Saw you got Hank Veach in there for a second. He give you any advice?

I'd make the suggestion to stay away from strapping for daily and do gain matched instead. I am by no means saying that the viper is a bad amp, but you will be hard pressed to find another until you sell yours. The moment you sell it another will pop up lol.

I couldn't make an accurate suggestion on whether the 15 will sound good in that enclosure or not for lack of known port area and tuning, but it will definitely make some noise. If you have any input on the new box build then send them to the obsidian page so they can see the specs themselves and let them know your goals and how you would like the overall bass to sound. Proper specs and tuning go a long way with overall output and sound quality. The Obsidian's really do shine if you take care of the small details and don't try putting a 2k or better amp on them. They are rated and warranted for 600rms from the manufacturer and they will get loud and sound good on it too.

There are soooo many manufacturers you open yourself to when you say you want a 6kw amp. It's like a candy store out there now days compared to the early days for sure.

You're correct. They have different components, they still share the same board. The Taramps HD8000 has both a 1 and 2 ohm model as well. If my mind serves me correctly I believe their was a change in capacitors and resistors that made this stability change between the 2. Take that with a grain of salt because I am fuzzy on the details.

Is the box one of the ones like "|O| |O|" or is it more like "|OO| ||" If it is the second one then i'd say go for the 15 as 3.75 would be fine for a 15. If it is the first one then plug one side and use the 12. Either way, you can't go wrong with anything in the 500 -1000 watt range as long as it's mono and has good reviews. Honestly, i'd look in to a well built enclosure if you can manage it though. The obsidian will love you for it.

Truth is only reason for higher voltage is for more wattage from your amplifier. However, if you're alternator isNOT capable of producing all the amperage required to take the slack of the amplifier the fallback will be battery voltage. If you have a bank of 10 batts and a single 240 amp alternator with a dc9k then you'll only be getting your alt voltage up to like 3k of the amp before it starts pulling your voltage down to battery surface charge then dips in to the battery bank anyways on 12 volt systems. This is why major competitors are now running ultra caps as they can take the current demands of these huge ass amps that demand 1000+ amps for 3 second bursts or more. It also takes like 8 banks of caps to even equal the weight of a single group 31 battery so you can see that the tradeoff is huge cause 8 banks of caps can hold amperage bursts far greater than any 12 volt battery can, it just can't sustain it for too long.

Yah, They shared the same board as a Directed 2400D and Orion 2500d, but I'm sure components changed.

Will this be too much power?

I like you. Not sexually, but like a bro's b4 hoe's kinda way if I was gangsta or whatever. Perhaps more like a hat tip at the golf course kinda way. Yes, that way. -
Last time I checked parallel series on 3 dual 1's was 1.5ohm? Senchez always had d1 and only mentioned that he should have gotten d2 instead because when he gets all 3 amps that gives him option 1) d1 = 1ohm (series/parallel) or 4ohm (series) option 2) d2 = .5ohm (parallel/parallel) or 2ohm (series/parallel) You blamed a lot on his install and I'd argue that it was just fine and well within your argued guidelines you set on your Korean vs Brazilian thread. I'd like to see any other vehicle using 16k worth of power not vibrate that little amount he was vibrating at the rear wall with 3 inches of enclosure and steel mounting and all.

DSS Tridents and Twisted Sounds S-10. Road to 166dBs

That's gonna be my next thought I think. At least you get the big breasted opposite sex sticking their heads in your windows doing hairtricks. Make sure you keep in a stick in your ride to beat off the ugly ones though. -
Hey, fuck you buddy! lmfao Sure I know how this is going to go already anyways.

Hey, look. DSS Ethos got an award at Slamology.
