So i have the Tss-450 home theater set up and the subwoofer has lost its performance. I'm thinking about switching a new sub into it. I've always been into car audio so i've done plenty of custom set ups there. Would it sound very good if i put another sub in its place in the box?

Charging my car battery
clifford3030 posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
So my battery died yesterday cuz my friend left a light on in it. Its parked in my driveway which is on the main street of my town and i can't push it back anyways cuz of the snow. Would I be able to take my battery out and charge it with a friends running car? I don't see how this wouldn't work but just want to make sure before i make anything worse, gotta work tonight. -
So earlyer this summer my kicker 650.4 got a little hot and burnt up. I was a Electrical Engineering student for 2 years so I know a little about the specific components in an amp. I took it apart and saw that it was a piece I haven't worked with before and about 10 of the same one fried. This is a picture from ROE(the amp guts section). I had my friend take close ups that I'll try to post tomorrow but he is having problems with his camera so not sure. Hopefully one of you guys can tell me what these are and if i'd be able to replace them. They are the first 4 black pieces under the metal on top and bottom and maybe 3 on the next sets of 3. Thanks, Austin

How long does it usually take for turn around on emails? I've sent one to the sales and recone emails for Fi over a week ago and haven't heard anything. I had the problem with the aluminum plug busting through the dust cap and am hoping to get it fixed soon as i've been going after this for about a month now. Austin

ya i sent it with a nice long explination. I had talked to nick a little bit about it before but then communications stopped for some reason. Its tough not having the bump for so long.

So I bought my Fi Q 15" a little over a year ago but due to a DUI its only gotten about 4 months if that of playing time. I just got my license back so i was excited to finally get to hear it again. After only a couple of days it shot out a large cylindrical metal piece through the dustcap. The dust cap is fractured but the the insides of the sub look fine(coils and whatever else i can see). I've never seen this happen before in person or online. I have it in about a 4 cubic foot box tuned to 32 hz. Its on a USAmps XT2000D and definately not recieving full power for the sub and the gains are turned down. I didn't change anything in the setup since i last drove it a year ago so I don't understand what happened. Has this happened to anyone else? Also, curious about getting it fixed. Will try to get pix up tomorrow or thursday just can't stop thinkin about it so lookin for answers.

This is why i wasn't mad when it happened... gotta love customer service.

Definately wasn't playin below tuning as 32 hz is an estimate but its actually a bit lower, plus the cd's i've been playin over the weekend(which is all the playing time its got in the past year) don't have any low notes around my tuning. I'm no expert or even close but I do know what has been played on it. Its been a fun experience so time for a recone and back to business. And this finally will force me to build a new box like i've been trying to do for over a year.

ya thats what i was thinkin? Does this happen often?
-
Here's the damage...

Oh ya and to add.... surprisingly this brought a huge smile to my face for awhile after.... it still plays and doesn't sound to off since its in the trunk of a diamante

So i've had an 15Q, 3.6ft^3 tuned to 32hz, and it sounds amazing and hits the lows LOUD. It's been good to me, loud enough to impress any but i need a change. I go to K-State therefor don't get to see my car much so i kinda wanna play around with this next setup. My USamps 2000XD is powering my Q so i'm gonna keep it for the 8's. I've been lookin at the AA's and they look nice but how low could i necessarily tune with a proper ported box? If not the AA's what other suggestions are there? 4-6 8's just sounds like fun and i'll get the punchy bass on the whole spectrem i'm hopeing.
-
What tuning range would you suggest for any 8 setup? Keep in mind this will be my "sub" setup as i'm gettin rid of the 15(dont have that much room in the trunk, or my wallet),

I'm in electrical engineering. Freshman. You?
-
Kansas State. When your in the middle of no where you forget there could be other K-States out there.

Alright i'm in need for some help designing a box for my 15Q. Its going in my Diamante. The largest outside specs for it are 36 wide, 24ish deep and 16 high. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Alright so i've done a lot of measuremeants and i'm pretty sure i can easily fit in an BL 18. How well do they work in a box around 5.7 cubes before displacements. Also i need some help figuring port size. I'm going to have to have sub up but where should port be and size. Height is 17" to any obstruction, 36" width and about 28" long. Any ideas for box??? or should i just settle for a 15. Its going to have a US amps XT2000d on it and i'll get cooling. Thanks, Austin

Alright so i've got two sets of Clif Designs QX6500 componets and a KX650.4. I've got a full car's worth of dynamat extreme on the way to do the whole car. I've got a US Amps XT2000D waiting for the sub. The car is gonna be a 1999 Diamante as long as transaction goes as planned. I've been set on a single 15 for awhile but after lookin in the trunk i may have room for an 18. Any suggestions, maybe another set up???
-
Ya i was set on a 15 but after seeing the size of the trunk i'm very tempted to try to pop an 18 in there. I'll measure it up and see if i got room. Maybe two 15's??? Damn it gets harder to choose when it gets down to it.
