good mids/highs speakers and componenets
truckaudioman replied to truckaudioman's topic in General Fi
so, would it be better if a put a set of components in each door up front, one set in the back...and maybe something like some 8" subs for better midbass in the console? I am new here, tryin to keep up with an understanding. I know Scott is right though, this is gonna be more of an overall output monster system meant to get real loud rather than one that is gonna be perfect sounding like a sound stage. I just want to do what is more correct and make it sound as good as possible. So, I am up for all the suggestions if it will improve the overall sound. -
An interesting question I forgot to ask

I think the BTL would be more up my alley...it can still be a daily driver though correct??? -

truckaudioman replied to truckaudioman's topic in Fi Products
anyone? I honestly can't see the big difference...that being said, I am a noob and want to make sure I don't spend the extra grand or so in the end for a power difference and it to sound like a crap daily driver meant for just SPL. -
I was talkin to this installer today about various things, such as size limitations within vehicles. He said that there is barely a noticable difference between 2 15's and 4 15's, and at that only about 3dB's. Is this true? Doesn't seem to right for me, but I am a noob.
-
Not the first stupid thing he has said to me. He also says for me to do 4 15's in a pacman enclosure, it will take up the entire bed of my silverado. Scott said it should only go a little past the wheel well. Not to sure what he is talkin bout...not the first time I have had to question him.
-
maybe he was assuming the power remains the same, but with 4 subs instead of 2.

I have been researching amps and came across a Soundstream. Haven't heard much about them at all. Are they any good and could the 2000 easily push a fully loaded BTL daily with ease???
-
I will be pushing 4 15 BTL's in my truck and am not yet sure which to use. Either 4 Kicker 2500.1's or 2 RF4000's. Any ideas would be nice. Overall, the 4 kickers still only come out a little above the price of the 2 RF's if I buy local. any suggestions, or even another brand that would be better for a little cheaper......

So, after much nagging, my old lady talked me out of doing the pacman design with 4 15" BTL's in the bed of my truck cause it would take up every inch. So, will I be able to put 3 15's straight across the bed of my truck so that I have a little room to put stuff towards the end of the bed in my truck. Or will I have to go with two BTL's. 6'6" front to back 5'3" wide 4'1" wide between wheel wells 1'10" from one end to the wheel well 1'8.5" from other end to wheel well These are some dimensions I got from one of those custom fit rubber mats for the bed of this truck. I think the bed is about 21" deep. LOL, my old lady thanks you..........

Thanks...guess I got to stop listening to that stuipd installer, should have known. He was talkin crap and is an RE dealer. I will find a better shop that is custom based, not just out for themselves and screwing customers.

Either a 2006 or 2007 chevy silverado

All in all, how good are these two companies amps and which is better. I am looking at the ax-2000 and the kicker 2500.1. Not to sure.....
-
Thanks, you are about the 6th person to tell me that. I wanted to be on the sure side, esp since the stupid US amps ax-2000 costs like $800 more at a lot of places online.

why only a pair?

Here is my problem. For quite some time I planned on putting 4 15" BTL's in the bed of my truck, forward facing. I have a fiberglass lid, not a camper shell, so no wall. I know they need to be ported, at least I want them to be. Is there anyway to put the 4 15's in there or will I have to go to either 3 15's or 4 12's. Out of those two, which will be louder and hit harder. I was thinkin the 12's, esp in the box is right. I will be correctly powering each sub, so power is not the issue here. So, what do you think bout my situation and any ideas??????? THANKS
-
Scott.....I owe you the world. Thanks. Once all this is done I will try to push your companies name as much as I can in this area. Thanks again.

6'6" front to back 5'3" wide 4'1" wide between wheel wells 1'10" from one end to the wheel well 1'8.5" from other end to wheel well These are the measurments I got from one of those rubber mats that fit into the bed of the truck with a nice fit. Soon as I solve this problem, then you guys have answered every question and helped me in every aspect possible, thanks.

A shirt that looks that nice, has a good enough thread count, the price is understandable. At least we aren't paying $20 for a POS that will last us a couple months. Can't wait to order one.
-
Hey Scott Just checked out your pics of the shirts that will be available. A little pricey, but considering all the stitching and how great it looks...all worth it. I am a little new to FI, haven't even gotten my subs yet, but I can't wait to rep you guys and get that shirt.

The only issue I have is height, I beleive about 21", but need to take solid measurements. As for the length of the bed, about 5 ft that is all game. But, I guess I will have to go with the 12's due to the height issue. Thanks for puttin this pretty much in stone for me guys. LOL, I will have to suffer until I get my SUV. JUST out of curiousity, about how much height would be needed to do the 4 15's Scott, or anyone? I have been checkin out a couple other new trucks as well, wonder if their bed is deeper. If this is the case, I will look more at them......sad, buying a truck around a sound system....
-
yeah, it would probably be easier and cheaper to do in the long run. Would 4 12's still pound the hell outta everything.

Where can i get rough plans for a box
truckaudioman replied to truckaudioman's topic in Fi Technical
Is it possible to make one into a ported box? I have seen one with RF T2's, but not to sure about the BTL's. Or will I be forced to go with 4 12's or 3 15's, in which case, what would be better out of those two. I am thinking 4 12's. If I can fit 3 in my little Ranger, I am sure I could fit 4 in a silverado. As for a wall, I will only have a fiberglass lid on my truck, not a full out camper shell, so a wall will not work. Unless you are talkin bout something I dont realize that you are. -
Does anyone have any clue where I can obtain so rough plans or designs on making pacman boxes for my 4 15" BTL's??? I have been searching but coming up with the stupid pac man game somehow..

It just angles the box in the middle to look a little like pacmans mouth. < -
It is like the first thread on the top when you come into this forum....like $42 for regualar sizes, $45 for fatter boys like me, and so on
