I know this may sound like a stupid question, but I know nothing outside of Rockford amps. I am getting some BTL's fully loaded and am curious, what would be better to put on each one. The Kicker 2500.1 or the Sundown 3000D? This is for daily driving. Would the extra $400 be worth the extra 500 watts per sub? How good are Sundown, heard Kicker were good. Thanks in Advance

I shouldn't have to worry much about it. Last time he tutored me I aced the exam, a great math teacher. Hell, I think I learn more from Mathman than I do my own professor, LOL! And yeah, I will be at your house this weekend, thanks for the help again.

I will have to get in contact with you as well about the amps as well, savings are coming along. Just a bit longer, bills suck! LOL
-
I can't beleive it would only give, theoritically, less than 1 db. Put from what you were telling me Tej, Sundowns seem like some really good amps. Looks like it may just be worth the extra couple hundred.

Yeah. I would look at a 300 amp alt, big 3 upgrade, several runs of 0 gauge, and a couple extra batteries, but that is just me

I have gotten caught up looking at some of Meade's designs cause my old lady finally decided to let me get a Tahoe instead of another truck. I loved a couple of his ideas with the 2 18's, so I may go with it. Hoping mine sounds even remotely close to that one design of his. Shootin high with this one, lol You should check his site out, you may get some good ideas. And i am sure you know he is good, did you check out his escalade build so far?? GOD!

I plan on putting 4 15" BTL's in the bed of a silverado with a blowthrough, not a wall. Out of curiosity, will there be any type of loss in pressure and sound by doin this? Also, if I make a small wall around the hole with sound deadener all under it, will that make a improvement on the loss if there will be any in the first place. I know that it will help with road noise, so i am doing it anyway, but am just curious.

So, which of the two would you do and why? About how much SPL will the 4 Q's produce. I am open to just about anything, and really do listen to EVERYTHING. I ALSO FORGOT TO ADD ONE MORE CHOICE, BUT OH WELL. 4 Q'S PORTED.
-
that isn't to shabby, but i know someone who can get me the RF4000's for about 800 each.
-
Amp wise, I will be using RF4000.1's. One for the Q's, 1000watts each sub. If I go with BTL's, 2 RF4000.1's, 2000watts each...unless I can find some Kicker 2500's for a good price, then 4 of those, one on each BTL. All electrical upgrades will be done. At least 1 300 amp alt no matter what, extra batteries (more depending on which I go with), big 3 upgrade, several runs of wire.

Very nice, very nice indeed. I need to come down there sooner or later and check it out and learn a thing or two from ya.

Been off for a while due to military training, always fun. Anyway, what I am probably gonna settle on is 4 15" BTLs run off 2 RF4000.1's....at least until I can get my hands on two more of those amps. Then I will push 4k per sub roughly.
-
I am looking for some rough plans on how to make a ported pacman box for 4 15" subs. Anyone with any links or resources would be great.
-
Ok, so, here is a big question I should have probably asked first and foremost. Other than power handling abilities, what are the differences between the BTL and BL. SPL vs SQ, etc. thanks. J
-
Thanks Scott. I was looking at running 2 RF4000's. I just wanted to make sure that 2k per sub will push them good enough, despite being rated at 2k. I keep hearing so many people saying this and that, I just wanted to make sure.
-
I have heard read many peoples threads about how much power they give their BTL's and cant help but wonder how much is actually enough (minimum power). I was looking at giving each about 2k watts for daily driving, is this enough? I don't wanna overdo it and burn out the subs cause I listen to my music horribly loud.

An interesting question I forgot to ask

An additional alternator. Roughly how do they add another alternator? Do they just find a place somewhere open and install it? Does this additional alternator run almost the entire system? Basically, where can I find info on this subject? Havent heard to much about having 2 alternators. -

Yeah, been workin alot. Right now I am debating on several issues involving how much room will be taken up in the bed of the truck. More than likely, I will be getting BTL's. I may have to underpower them for a little, till I get the cash to get another amp or two, but not sure yet. The main thing, like i said, is how much room i will have. If it permits, I will do what we were talkin about, 4 15's. If not, I will either get 2 15's or 4 12's, but it all depends like I said. I think I am talkin myself out of 4 for fear of not having money for that much power upgrades. We will see though. It all comes down to room in the bed of the truck and money for power upgrades. -
Dude, I think I know you....anyway. I wanted to say that I am goin throught the exact same problem right now cause my old lady. She says she wants it to sound "pretty" and the money I save by getting Q's and saving on power I could buy her something nice...lol. Anyway, I hope you get your answer, I am curious myself about this one being I am now in the same predictiment.

Ok, well...here this goes, hopefully yall can help. My current truck has 6 6x8's in it by RF, the power series. Gets loud. My new truck, on the other hand, is set up for some components. I will also be making a custom console to allow room for more speakers. What is a good brand that gets loud as hell and can stand up to the 15" BTL's I will be pushing. Also, what size speakers should I put in the custom console??

I think I should stay with the BTLs. I have hearing loss from the Iraq war, so I listen to my stuff real loud and pound it real hard non-stop. I think running 2k watts to the fully loaded BTLs will allow them to take a better beating than the BLs. -
embarassing to admit, I knew nothing of car audio when I started doin research. My first place to research was yahoo answers. From there went to caraudio forum. Shawn and Scott both got me there. Sent me to ROE and got hooked. Not to mention, as compared to the RE subs that I was planning, price and power are miles ahead of RE. Lastly, Scott has helped me a lot and Shawn has done more for me in the last little bit of time to teach me than anyone has before. So, the customer service really got me. I tried to call RE once the other day....lets just say after about 30 minutes of the phone being on speaker phone then some idiot treating me like I was stupid, I can't ever look at RE again, left bad taste in my mouth. Thanks Shawn, Scott, and Nick.

I heard horns were like super hard to set up correctly.....is this true? Also, where can u pick some up at if I go with them? -
Rap wise, my two favs are Jibbs' King Kong and David Banner's Play. Play hits pretty hard. Killer Mike also has a few songs that pound. Ying Yang has some good ones to, dirty as hell though. LOVE LUDA'S BLUEBERRY YUM YUM!!!!!!! Cant wait to play that when I finish with my new truck.
