Hey guys, been awhile since I have been on here to pick your brains. I had my Charger SRT, got it set up nicely, and realized I really dislike cars so I sold it and got a F150, 4 door. Every truck I have had I put a fiberglass lid on the back and did a blowthrough going into the cab. I have always been happy with that, but could never haul anything. In keeping with a truck theme, I am planning on keeping the back open this time. To get a decent amount of bass I would like to rip out the back seat and put two individual seat in there and build a custom fiberglass console running up to the front seat, maybe a little further. So, have any of you tried this or heard a system set up like this. I have seen them many times in Truckin' magazine, but have never heard one myself and am curious before I spend all this money. I am hoping to run around 4 Q 10's, 12's if they will fit, and make the enclosure ported somehow. Would this be possible or should I just realize the only good bass I can get out of a truck is with those little enclosures under the seat? Thanks

So, I see that tons of people all apply different things to their BTL's. Assuming they are the fully loaded BTL's, I gotta ask, how much power R U applying to yours? Just curious to see how much various people apply. Also, are these daily driver vehicles?
-
My bad, went to post on wrong thread....not to sure how that happened.
-
Sooooo, I was asked by a friend who is about to order some BLs to ask on here. He is gettin the fully loaded BLs and wants to know if they can take 2k watts daily???? The longest he blares his system for at a given time is about 30min, but his current setup is crap so i doubt it will be full crank with BLs.

So, I am lookin for an amp to run 2 10" bls and am not entirely sure what to go with, would something like a RF4000.1 be good or should I stay with a 3k watt amp....in which case, what is a good 3k watt amp
-
Thanks....not to mention way cheaper. I am assuming the extra 500watts on each will hardly be noticable by ear.
-
Right now I cant decide between a RF4000.1 or a Sundown 3000. I am a little weary that 2k on each may be to much, but not to sure.
-
thanks, he was "iffy" about puttin 2k on each one.

This is going to go in a 07 or 08 dodge charger cause i have to ditch my beloved truck. So far i plan i running 3 10" Q's in the trunk in a IB setup. That is about as far as I have gotten cause I have no experience at all when it comes to setting up speakers for mids and highs. Before I would just throw 6x8's in and go, want to do it right this time. Music wise, I listen to, literally, everything. I really enjoy listening to heavy metal, techno, and rap probably the most though. I just want some really good clean sounding speakers cause my current setup, everything seems muddy to me, almost distorted. Back to point, can someone point me in the direction of where to start. Like crossovers, equalizers, and most importantly, some very good drivers for mids and highs. At the moment, I plan on using 8" mid bass drivers, but am open to so much more if you throw it out there for me to check out...... THANKS

What is a really good amp to put on them? Memphis Mojo or RF4000.1?

I am, but my very soon to be wife is not. She likes loud pounders. Lookin to upgrade her system a little also. She thinks if i get a new system she should also, go figure.

Also curious about this one. I have had some cheap subs in the past with horrible bass response. How do the BTLs stand up for bass response. I have a friend with RF P3's in their "special" enclosure (the plastic ported box) and I have noticed that a lot of the bass notes are jumbled together and don't stand out from one another. Since the BTL's are some big SPL subs, do they do this as well or are they a little better and letting the notes stand out.
-
ah, i will have to really check into one of those.
-
Lol, my bad, I was lookin at SX's all day and had them on my mind. I was meaning the RF T2's and their aluminum cones.
-
big time noob question, but what exactly does that do?
-
mmmmmmm, yeah. You are right. Was gonna jump into it without thinkin how the soundstage is supposed to be setup. So I guess I set a very high budget for my mids and highs, gives me a buffer.
-
Well, originally it was gonna be two sets of RE XXX comps, like 650 or so a set. I am kinda thinking of getting about 4 sets and doin some nice fabrication work on the doors and such now. Saw an article in a magazine with a car that did it, looked real nice.
-
Right now, I had set aside around $600 to $700 per set of components. Running 2 sets was the initial idea. I will push probably about $1500 to $2000 for midbass and components for the entire setup. Not including amps.
-
lol, thanks. I keep going out to my truck and listening to the music now. Before it sounded loud and good to me, with lots of bass also. Now I listen to it and everything seems muddy and nothing really stands out....i can almost not stand it anymore.

So my grandfather comes down for a visit in his new car, one of those two seater fast driving Caddy's, nice car. He sits and listens to my system, seems to love it. Out of no where this 72 yr old throws me in his car and cranks up his radio. He has an SQ setup using 3 10" eclipse subs (not sure what type, but nice), and two sets of Rainbow Germaniums. That stuff sounded nice. For the first time I was listening to something that didn't just throw out so much bass that is almost all you could hear. To make things better, my old lady is makin me sell one of my trucks to get a car in the next couple months, meaning a new setup. I will probably be on here asking all sorts of questions about comp sets and equalizers and such, so just wanted to say thanks in advance cause I have no clue what I am doing this time, lol.
-
I am gonna use Fi Q's obviously, gotta rep. And thanks, I am way to excited to hear a real SQ setup for the first time, even though it will be a month or so before i get it going real well.
-
I have a long road ahead of me trying to plan everything out and workin on this. I am still checkin out various comp sets with 8" drivers and such, so if you wanna drop a few good names I would appreciate it. I know you left a couple already. It is gonna be a long build I can imagine. What would be the difference overall between running a single 15" compared to 3 10's. They both sound good, but I think 3 10's would be very sexy in the end. But hey, just curious.
-
I havent really seen anyone hook 3 subs up to one amp, is this possible without causing big impedence problems. If it is, what would be a good amp to run 3 1ohm subs, or should i get the 2 ohm version?
-
I think that would look better and probably sound better in the long run too. Firing forward? U talkin about firing toward the front of the car or the back of the car? Lastly, how do sealed subs sound compared to IB subs?
-
Hate to ask, but where is his install located at, tried to look for it with no luck. And neon, would you recommend turning the rear deck into the spot I put the IB or just install it in the trunk?
