Just a week ago? You more than likely will not get it for at least another two weeks.

I could not agree more with the post. Yes UPS and Fedex do drop the ball when it comes to shipping sometimes, but that is why the subs should be properly packaged just in case. My $400 18" SSA Xcon that I paid $40 to get shipped to me just showed up with a cracked basket. Either because the 65 lbs sub was packaged just like the above guys sub, or because it was damaged before it was even shipped. I was shocked when I saw how it was packaged too! I always see large Xcons in crates but I guess that was not important anymore. As I said in a prior post, you have not seen Xcon's in crates, we only just now switched them over. Please stop with the accusations, no idea why anyone would think that getting the product to the customer is not important to such a small internet only brand. Forgive me for a faulty accusation. I mixed up the Xcon with the Zcon. Hopefully when it gets back from repair it will be crated because I know if a company like Skar can try and protect their smaller/lighter subs, Fi and SSA can definitely find a way to ensure their large heavier models are equally packaged safely. On a side note, you have been helpful with doing your part of getting the sub sent back for repairs. I will drop it off at the UPS store tomorrow and have them wrap it like crazy in bubble wrap before it is boxed and sent.

Why would I not attempt that first? I pulled the sub from the box and the surround off only to see that the basket is cracker behind the surround. Meaning it was either damaged during shipping, or before it was even shipped. The sub was shipped just about as recklessly as one could possibly ship it. It was just a regular cardboard box with Styrofoam sitting inside it (not specifically positioned anywhere). When I saw the box the first thing I thought was that I would file a claim ASAP if I opened it and saw any damage. I opened it and it looked fine when it really had hidden damage. There is no reason why I should be a happy go lucky customer when I got a damaged sub due to the lack of proper packaging. Yeah UPS could have been responsible but that would not have happened (at least in that specific spot) if the sub had been crate packaged like I see they are all over online. What else does the build house really expect will happen when they throw and 65 lbs 18" sub in a cardboard box and hand it over to be shipped?

Ok I just got my Xcon 18 sub installed and am having a frustrating issue. At higher volumes and low tones the sub rattles! The moment I noticed it started I looking for the cause. I tried tightening the screws and adjusting the seal just in case there was an air leak and quickly figured out that was not the issue. I then thought maybe it was the box (a 6.5 cube ported box) but was able to conclude it was not. I then decided to push slightly with my thumb on the center of the dust cover while the sub was playing hard (and rattling) and the noise stopped. Is my dust cover loose? If not, what is the issue? The sub is brand new and literally just installed. It sounds so nasty that I turned off the system for the mean time. I have not even got to enjoy it yet.

Settings for a Pioneer HU EQ and sub Gains
miwasqo posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Hey guys, I have a couple of questions in regard to properly setting the gains for my new SSA Xcon 18. I have a Pioneer AVH P4300DVD head unit with a Rockford T1500.bdCP amplifier, and the Xcon in a custom 6.5 cubes ported box tuned to 33hz. I am using a DMM to set the gains and have read that the amp gains are supposed to be set while all the HU EQ settings are flat (or on 0), the volume on 3/4 the max setting, and a 50hz test tone in the cd player. I am not sure how right that is so I decided to ask. My questions is what is the best way adjust the sub "bass boost" and "output level" settings on the HU? Do I put them on my desired point before adjusting the sub amp gains or after? Should I even use the above two HU settings at all? Also, will I be feeding a clipped signal to the sub if I adjust these settings higher after setting the amp gains lower with the DMM during the install. Thanks! -
I never said anything he should be offended by why he has came at me twice.

I don't need to (or want to) know you Bigjon. You are the only one offended about what I said. Get a life outside this forum so you can learn to take things easier instead of being a bigot. You are the one looking stupid because you are trying to pick a fight because I stated an opinion.

And for what it is worth, I am not questioning the build quality or performance of the SSA sub line. I know they are real high quality or I would not have ordered one in the first place.

That made no sense. Anything hand built is made up of little parts being put together. Yeah those little parts may be individually bulilt/milled before being added to other parts to make a final product but It is not like Xcons differ from one another (like Fi subs or something). As long as they are the same size, subs from companies like Ascendant and SSA are ALL the same. I am also positive Bentley vehicles are not "just slapped together." oh i get it now.... you just like talkin about things you have no clue about......... gotcha.. well aslong as we both know your full of shit carry on. Mybad BigJon. I didn't think a simple comment would make you so sad.

Ok. I would be more pleased at them if they would respond to emails about the progress of the build. I emailed them on Thursday afternoon and they have not responded up till now, and probably won't unitl Monday.

Ok. I am not bashing the brand or anything, I am just saying that waiting two months is too long. So the Xcon 18 D1 I am going to recieve evemtually is different from any other Xcon 18 D1 that people have on this forum of the same generation?

That's the trade off with something that's hand crafted in the USA rather than mass produced overseas. I understand it takes time, but at the end of the day it is still a subwoofer. Two months to build a sub (because it is hand crafted) is bs. What happens is the parts are probably delayed for a good 7 weeks, then the subs are built in the last week. Hand made Bentley's don't even take 2 months to be built.
