How much space do you have to work with in your car?
-
Go through FI. Scott does recones out the ass all the time for all kinds of people and woofers. I don't know if AA actually has reconing abilities right now. FI is AA's new builder though, so hit up FI with your situation.
-
I'd try it out in the recommended size, but tuned lower. Like 20. Maybe even add a cubic foot or two if that doesn't work too well.
-
Cool, did they do an exact recone, or beef anything up?
-
Yes. I can't find it, but there was a guy who used his attic for the enclosure and had 4 Avalanche 18s firing through a hole in the ceiling into his home theatre room. They like big enclosures. At least the 18s do.

I need a box specs for a ported 32hz 12" assassian.
Duke replied to unpredictableacts's topic in Ascendant Audio
MAINLY just the port length and sq" opening. I would do 2.2 cubes TOTAL, with 1 4 inch round port 12 inches long. Or you could try a 12 x 2 inch square port roughly 23 inches long. -
Contact FI maybe. How much power was going to those?

18s can be just as tight/accurate in a properly designed box. I've seen the 15s for sale frequently on other forums.

Well, I posted some information that people tend to show up looking for, and you decided to insult me for no reason. Completely unessesary.
-
Sorry if I offended you in any way.

You need to calm down immediately man. I wasn't trying to start anything with you. Don't like a child over this. I was simply saying that some people just want the end result and won't care or understand alot of the technical stuff. Don't get all bent out of shape about it man. Keep your rude, unnesessary comments to yourself. Not everyone knows as much as you do about subwoofers. Chill. Added mounting depths.

You have a valid point, but its just odd because typically an 18 will have a lower FS than its 15 inch version. Also, I think they all have the same spiders. Its not overly odd, just a bit questionable. Reasonable doubt my friend. Which is why someone should correct/confirm this because there obviously people who have their doubts no matter how much moving mass compliance suspension mumbo jumbo you throw at them. All we need is a simple correction/conformation. I think I remember Chad saying that his 2 18s in HT dropped a few HZ after using them a while, so maybe the 18s come with a higher FS, but after a bit of break in, they drop lower than the 15s...
-
That is quite odd. Hopefully someone can show up and correct or confirm this.

Yeah dude, the HAVOC 18s are just downright amazing. I still haven't been able to crank them up because my amp destroys my electrical, but I got 2 Northstar NSB 90s on the way that should take care of that. Hair tricks at 40 hz anyone?
-
Personally, after using HaVocs, I don't think I'll ever use my Avalanches again. What do you like so much better about the Havocs? There isn't an audible difference in how low they drop. They sound just as good, but get louder all around... way louder. Distortion is more noticeable though when it happens ( with the amps I am no longer running). Which is a que to back off the volume. I haven't been able to push them realy far with the new amp because I have a voltage drop problem.

The 18s are a bit heavier than the 15s, but I fed my Avalanche 18s 1300+ each for over a year and never once bottomed them out. Of course, it wasn't a constant 1300 because its music, but clipped or unclipped, they got 1300 frequently wether they liked it or not.
