I'm gonna have to agree with everyone else, that car is a joke. first off, i'd rather have 1 good 15 or 18 than 4 chitty ones. secondly, wow. thats all i can say. That car is so ugly it would have to sneak up on water.

Using MAW-10's For a three way tower speaker
BiNarY replied to BiNarY's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
i think i may have confused you guys, im lookin to use em UP to 400-600hz. i've got roughly 2kw on tap, i heard the mj18's are pretty solid up to about 400hz, as far as the other drivers i was thinking of a compression driver midrange, and a horn tweet. there are a few i have in mind from Partsexpress.com. -
anyone know or have tested the maw10s to know how high they will run with a relatively flat output and no distortion? i need to get roughly 400-600hz outta em, reason for this is i have come into owning a pro-sound amp, and am looking to create some party speakers.

to be honest, if you need to use that full 800 rms, get yourself an IXL 18.4 its better to run the driver in its rated wattages instead of pushing the driver into compression. ive got my maw-15 on roughly 650 rms, its doing fine, but when i really start pounding on it i can smell the coil glue. you might be better off to grab a second 15 and run em together. best of both worlds, more output, and less distortion. although as long as youre good on your gains, you'll be okay with a single 15. just pay attention, the sub will let you know if youre runnin it too hard.

any pics of this supposed 21? thats what i wanna see.

I've got the pioneer vsx 1015tx, and im tryin to hook up a QSC RMX2450 to the sub out, but apparently the QSC doesnt find any signal from the Sub out, so i guess im gonna have to used the speaker level, and convert it to line level? someone care to explain to me how i should be running this sub? (feels like a noob) this is my first venture into running pro sound with HT.

if you can divy out enough space to fit two 10's in the proper sized enclosures then you will have enough room to run a single 15 in a sealed box. it'll have that nice punchy bass you seek from the 10's, go lower, and probably be just as loud for less $ value. (thats my opinion) if you have roughly 300 bucks there are plenty of good 15's on the market. THe FI Q 15 is $279. same price for an RL-P 15. go big or go home lol. these are probably your better options in the 15 inch market. someone else may have some ideas with smaller drivers, but not me

beautiful sub, i love seein my logo on it.

and you own what? i don't know you, save these three previous posts, and i'll call you ignorant. and there is more then one online company ran out of a residence. hell, i'll wager 3/4 of ebay is in home. but just so you know, i'll tolerate your ignorance only a bit more more briefly. so shut up and learn, or move on back to ecoustics. either way, i don't care, but your done pissing in people's threads. understand? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee thoroughly own't.

Do you say that just to try and piss people off? Well you pissed me off. Just because nobody cares to reply to you doesn't mean it's a dead forum. I'm not sure why I'm wasting my time with you... I personally think Mark runs a great company. His prices are more than fair. If you don't like it, don't buy it. You probably haven't even used any of his products. Maybe if you tried the IXL and thought it wasn't worth the money, that comment would be helpful. But since you haven't, and don't know what your talking about, maybe you should keep your mouth shut. BAM! hit the nail right on the head with the hammer on that one, no experience kiddies shootin stuff down cuz it doesnt follow the mainstream curve. I brough a buddy over last week who has only ever heard car stereos based off mainstream hardware such as rockford fosgate p1 10 inchers in boxes way too small for the drivers. so when he heard my maw 15 belt out some serious bass (6 cu.ft ported tuned to 29.) and realized it was cheaper than 90% of the stuff he's heard, his jaw dropped. but i guess im used to that kinda reaction with this sub now. (im was only feeding it roughly 300 watts too.) Once i buy a buttkicker BK-1000A amp, and add a second 15, i expect the reaction of people will be much more fun

Vehicle is a 1996 Taurus.... and I havent decided which amp to push the subs yet with.... Maybe the Hifonics 1606d or the kicker 1000.1. Which would be better? or are there any amps that would better accomadate those two subs.... **Edit- Why are the Mach 5's so cheap? Also is the MAW-15 a 15" sub and can it handle 500 watts continuous or is it overrated? The mach 5's are not overrated. far from. from what i've heard on these forums some people are burpin the maw-15's at 2k rms... my MAW-15 works really well near its 500 watts continuous rated power. the only time its an issue is when you are playing really low sub-harmonics like 10hz, and thats just due to excursion limitations. from the fs up, you can feed it plenty of power, and not have to worry.

I'd do a 20, its just the right height to be used as a coffee table with a slot port. (it might be a litle high, but whatever.)

i can, but not yet. and since my room is an entire floor of the house, i'd have to walk upstairs i need to build a box for it, the box its in now is tuned for around 47 hz, great spl, but no real bottom end. once i've got my box, i'll record one for you.the amp im going to be running it off is similar. im goin for the buttkicker amp. bk-1000a, 1100 watts at 4 ohm 2100 at 2. its more power than my single 15 needs. but i figure ill run it at 8 ohm, and hope for the best, its roughtly 550w rms @ 8 ohm. so no issues there. im sure as long as your not cranking on the gains you wouldnt have an issue running only one, but like i said, doesnt need a huge box. so you can build a 4' x 2' x 2' box and tune it low, use it as a coffee table. lol. just make sure the speakers are outta kicking range or you get some decent grills to keep em alive.

Floor. sorry dude, but i see where hes comin from, no way will rents let him cut 18 inch holes in the floor and dump substantial noise into the rest of the house. thats just obvious. lol. You don't need holes that big, you can mount them in a baffle and have the baffle fire into the house. Sort of a box upstairs with the bottom side facing down into the room. Mount the subs on the outside and you are set. Really common for IB installs. dude, its not gonna happen lol. my dad will not let me. its his house, not mine. when i get my house, i will do it, but until then, i cant SEE! lol, i live with my rents, i got that maw-15 from the competetion, two floors up my dad freaks out when i turn it up. but then again i'd probably freak out if my kid was shaking the whole house too. lol. simplest solution is a 15 in a 2'x2' cube tuned to 28hz. lotsa clean bass. more than enough to make your parents say chit!
