O.k., I think it is starting to click. I always have to remember the term subjective. I think it will be better for me to say that in the future I want some lows with the appropriate mids and highs to keep up with it. Only thing that is holding me back is finding a great deal on a low mileage suburban. Bass will be 2 x 18"s. mids highs to match.

So, is it possible for me to say I want it to get loud and sound good?
-
So if a person wants sq or spl, or sql, what is wrong with using these terms? I don't want to get flamed in the future when I describe my goals...I always thought a system fall into one of these categories. Please explain what's wrong with it???

Cool, thanks Eddie. So if my box is uned to 33hz, is a 30hz subsonic is the way to go?
-
I have the same problem in that my amp has no subsonic filter. I can't seem to find those inlines so, what do you guys think of this? http://www.hlabs.com/products/crossovers/index_files/Page384.htm Seems it is a bit more adjustable. Box tuned at 33hz

^^^^^ And that is why I will be calling on M5, Swift, BigJon, Cheezy, Nems, Aaron and, Mark and a few others to help me build my system when the time is right. -
@ The enD, she is beautiful but that heart tattoo just throws off the whole pic. I think I like seeing a naked body more so without tattoos.

AMP Advice for my two SSA GCONs
BigGuy replied to joemosfet's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Thread jacking, how do those GCONs sound sealed? Zed or Sundown for amp. -
I would love to have a 2 ton army truck but I wouldn't put a system in it. Strictly off roading and mudding with that. Hose off the interior, do it all over again. I do get all the space it has. And I mean they do have space.

I could have got a low mileage, low price Suburban had I checked out the website a day earlier. Dam it to hell, but when I do find one, I'm going to build a beast that will murder the lows. My game plan is to focus my attention on "sound deadening", then the mids/highs, and finally the bass. Seems the bass is the easiest to do. Honestly I could buy a new Burb but I know the bass will destroy it over time. My daily is a 98 buick park ave, church car is a 09 CTS, my toy is a 83 Cutlass, but I need a big SUV.

I think he likes the box filling up the entire trunk area. I would make it sort of like a dummy box so that the box is that size on the outside but on the inside it is the correct volume for those subs (bigger outside, smaller inside). Like Jon said fill her up!

Nem, what goes into that pipe?

SSA used to have a box design on the site that was 3.2 cubes. Maybe Mark or Aaron will chime in on it.

Where do you go to read up on this car audio hobby or is it all trial and error? Some days I feel like the more I read, the less I know. I guess long gone are the days of just going to the local shop, buying a decent deck, some alright speakers and, some pre-fab bass. The joy of not knowing shit!
-
I love the car. Congrats!!! Tons of potential. I hope you will be adding to it some SSA down the line.

If I were living in Nashville I'd be sure to call on you guys. Very professional website.
-
Swift, dude, what the hell do you do? I'm must be in the wrong field. That 1960 is sexy!
-
Hmm, what are the purposes for each of those subs (what were they built for)?
-
I empathize with you bigjon. I'm a big dude myself. I've started walking and changing my habits. One day at a time for me. I'm a big meat and potato eater. Now, its more fruits and veggies. Only time will tell. Anyhow, good luck. Don't give up.

12k is not too bad. I was shocked at how much new SUVs cost. When did Tahoes and Burbubans jump up to 50k or more. Crazier, a Ford Escape is over 30? What the hell?

Any ideas on what a person should pay for a used Tahoe or suburban and how many miles would be o.k.? Looking for 04-06. Been seeing a lot of high mileage used ones for cheap, but miles are 150-160k. I want something big to put a big system in and the ability to take some reliable trips too.
