    False floor plan and ideas

I am going to start on this project very soon so I thought I'd start planning right now.. Here is what I wanted to do.. I did not want to sacrifice my whole cargo area so I got my sub box made to take up only half of the whole cargo space so I can have half of the space to store things or whatever.. And then I realized that I have no place to mount my kicker 2500.1 which is a fairly large amp so I decided that I would want to build a false floor with plexiglass on the other half of the cargo space in front of my subwoofer box.. (as of now my amp is sitting on my rear seat folded down (i definitely do not like it at all and I do not want to mount my amp on the sub box as well) So I came up with this plan, see pic down below.. Just imagine as if you are looking down on my cargo space from the top.. Sorry if my drawing sucked.. but hope you get an idea of what I am trying to achieve.. (rear seats is on the top of the pic, the box is right behind the rear seats.. The false floor will be on the other half of the cargo space; it is in front of my sub box, behind the trunk) I will be removing the panel in front of the sub box so I will have some more space to work with.. Normally under the panel there would be a jack and tools for replacing the spare tire.. I plan on relocating the jack to under the rear seats.. I will be removing this panel- Here is what I will be working with (I will remove the jack so it will be out of the way) You can see that I drew a outline frame which will be made of 3/4" or 1/2" MDF double baffled and painted black.. At the corners there will be square holes for the fans to fit into.. I want to put at least 1/2" plexiglass on top of the frame, but I plan on making the inside edges of the frame recessed so that way I can flush mount the plexiglass.. After all this, I will still be able to show off my amp and still have cargo space.. I am not sure what kind of fans should I use.. and what size? Any inputs or better ideas? Also, as of now, my amp is hooked up to a switch so that way I can turn it on and off since my HU's remote wire gives out constant power even while it is off.. I did not want to have a 12V supply going towards my amp to wake it up so I decided to use the wire from the HU to the switch so I am looking at .5V current, which is just enough to wake the amp up.. But now I would like to connect all 4 fans to the same switch so that way they will be turned on when the amp is on, but the problem is that the switch only got .5V supply as of now.. I dont want to make it into 12V since it would give the sub a bump when I turn the switch on, so any ideas how can I have the fans hooked up as well without having the 12V supply? I am thinking that I can just make the switch a 12V switch and then I can get some kind of a voltage reducer for the wire going to my amp so it would just be .5V while the rest is going to be 12V for the fans.. Am I making any sense? I need help in finding/picking the proper fans for my set up.. I plan on having 2 fans on the right side blowing downwards while the fans on the left side will be blowing up wards so that way the path inside the plexi from the right to left will have plenty of air flow.. Mind you, my ZX2500.1 gets HOT after playing music for a while.. I was thinking about picking up 4 computer fans but I am not sure if it is the best idea? what kind of options do I have when it comes to fans?? Computer fans were the ones that came up in my mind. I am definitely open to any inputs or opinions.. Criticize my plans if you have to.. I want the plan to be perfected before I start working on it.. Sorry about the long post, just wanted to have y'all filled in. Thanks in advance!

The "X"con 12" prototype has arrived

If you want a cheap built sub, go with the Omega. Now if you want quality, with great customer service go Xcon. what makes you say that omega is a cheap built sub? just curious I got a brand new 15" Omega lying in the basement of my home (I am in college so I shipped the sub to home) I am excited to get it up and running in no time.. It looks like a solid sub, so I am not too sure on how can you think that it is a cheap built sub ha? But now with the free enclosure offer by a guy here, I am tempted to pick up 2 12" Xcons if I can afford it..

Want to start on my first box build

Since my second Q is getting here tomorrow, I thought why dont I start working on the box like tomorrow or Saturday since I have nothing better to do on those days.. So I was hoping that there is someone around here that is an expert at box designs and cutout measurements could help me on making a design and measurements then I'll build it... The box is going to be for 2 15 inch Fi Q's.. Ported.. I would like the subs firing upwards and port firing towards the hatch.. Also, I want it to be tuned at 32hz.. It will be going in my explorer.. so the max dimensions I got: Height: 16 1/2 inches Length: 41 1/2 inches Width: This wont matter, I got plenty of room, but would like to have as much cargo space as possible The port wont matter to me as long it doesnt look out of place or whatever.. I could work with PVC port.. I am going to use 3/4" MDF board and double baffle the side where the subs will be on.. Help would be very much appreciated, might try to work on getting some designs tonight and tomorrow then hopefully I can start the build on Saturday

Want to start on my first box build

thanks man! appreciate it! but got a question tho.. I m wondering if those measurements include the wood? Can you give me the cut out measurements, that would be helpful.. Also you suggest me to put a divider there to give some bracing/support.. But should I completely divide the box? what difference would it make if there is a divider or none?

    Was bored today so..

Thanks for the kind comments! And yeah I've been there, doing some crazy things on the skateboard.. I even painted the bottom myself and waxed it up as much as I could so I could still slide on it(I think I even still have it in my closet right now lol).. All that fad ended for me few years ago ha.. I remember that I could barely afford a new board, but now I m like hell I can afford skateboards easily, but now I am having problems on buying car audio stuff lol..

    New Setup

Hey guys, I m back.. I was here like a month or two ago.. I was collecting the informations I need for my new set up.. Then finally, I got the set up done.. I have a 15" Fi Q D2, Ported box tuned at 26hz, JBL GTO 1201.1 II amplifier.. PICS: BUT I have a problem here.. I grabbed a deal for the box and sub combo when I needed a Q that is D1 not D2.. But the sub I got is D2.. So I am stuck with 4 ohm load on the sub since JBL amp is 2 ohm or 4 ohm stable only.. It cannot go lower than 2 ohm.. At 4 ohm(which it is running on right now) load, it is only 787 watts RMS.. If it is at 2 ohm load, it would be 1200 watts rms.. It already sounds sweet at 787 watts rms.. i can imagine it would be awesome if it was 1200 watts.. So I am wondering what do you guys recommend me to do? I m thinking about selling my sub and get another one at D1 and whatever? Unless I find someone who has a Q with D1 that wants a D2 Q that I can trade with.. Or can I send this to Fi and have them replace the motor to D1?? Help would be very much appreciated, Thanks

Electrical system to support a Rockford T30001BD...

Yes. Just one run to the amp should be plenty. ...I would fuse each run within 18" of the battery. Meaning you fuse the front end...AND the back end. So each cable has 2 fuses. Why would you need 2 fuses on each cable? I thought one would be good enough already? Just want to know since I might be adding an extra battery in the rear in near future...

    New Setup

How would I be able to know how much space I need for the port when I integrate one in an install? This is going to be my first box, so I ll have some stupid questions lol, so excuse me
  23. uglydimple12

    New Setup

Hmm yeah, it is going to depend on box dimensions, If there is not that much of space after placing the sub in, I might do 2 ports, but if there is plenty space then I might as well do just one big port.. Some recommend doing a PVC port rather than regular port(not sure what is it called ha).. So what do you guys think? I m open to any inputs.. thanks

    New Setup

UPDATE: I ended up finding a good deal on another Fi Q so I just paid for it.. should be here at the end of this week.. so I guess you guys were right after all hah.. Now I will need an amp that gives out 2k+ watts RMS at 2 ohm load.. So I guess Orion 2500D is out of the picture Kicker ZX2500D is niceee, but damn they are expensive(not like I didnt expect that lol) Also, I will build the box that fits 2 15" Fi Q.. ported.. But I am not sure which outcome would be better- 2 ports or 1 big port? I am going to need help on measurements of the box and ports..

Lol, well I love bass so I have no problem with having too much bass hah.. But once I get my wirings the the 4 channel amp will be installed so it wont be super ghetto to you anymore, ha.. Also, I plan to buy a set of comps once I am done with subs and stuff like that..
