I am going to start on this project very soon so I thought I'd start planning right now.. Here is what I wanted to do.. I did not want to sacrifice my whole cargo area so I got my sub box made to take up only half of the whole cargo space so I can have half of the space to store things or whatever.. And then I realized that I have no place to mount my kicker 2500.1 which is a fairly large amp so I decided that I would want to build a false floor with plexiglass on the other half of the cargo space in front of my subwoofer box.. (as of now my amp is sitting on my rear seat folded down (i definitely do not like it at all and I do not want to mount my amp on the sub box as well) So I came up with this plan, see pic down below.. Just imagine as if you are looking down on my cargo space from the top.. Sorry if my drawing sucked.. but hope you get an idea of what I am trying to achieve.. (rear seats is on the top of the pic, the box is right behind the rear seats.. The false floor will be on the other half of the cargo space; it is in front of my sub box, behind the trunk) I will be removing the panel in front of the sub box so I will have some more space to work with.. Normally under the panel there would be a jack and tools for replacing the spare tire.. I plan on relocating the jack to under the rear seats.. I will be removing this panel- Here is what I will be working with (I will remove the jack so it will be out of the way) You can see that I drew a outline frame which will be made of 3/4" or 1/2" MDF double baffled and painted black.. At the corners there will be square holes for the fans to fit into.. I want to put at least 1/2" plexiglass on top of the frame, but I plan on making the inside edges of the frame recessed so that way I can flush mount the plexiglass.. After all this, I will still be able to show off my amp and still have cargo space.. I am not sure what kind of fans should I use.. and what size? Any inputs or better ideas? Also, as of now, my amp is hooked up to a switch so that way I can turn it on and off since my HU's remote wire gives out constant power even while it is off.. I did not want to have a 12V supply going towards my amp to wake it up so I decided to use the wire from the HU to the switch so I am looking at .5V current, which is just enough to wake the amp up.. But now I would like to connect all 4 fans to the same switch so that way they will be turned on when the amp is on, but the problem is that the switch only got .5V supply as of now.. I dont want to make it into 12V since it would give the sub a bump when I turn the switch on, so any ideas how can I have the fans hooked up as well without having the 12V supply? I am thinking that I can just make the switch a 12V switch and then I can get some kind of a voltage reducer for the wire going to my amp so it would just be .5V while the rest is going to be 12V for the fans.. Am I making any sense? I need help in finding/picking the proper fans for my set up.. I plan on having 2 fans on the right side blowing downwards while the fans on the left side will be blowing up wards so that way the path inside the plexi from the right to left will have plenty of air flow.. Mind you, my ZX2500.1 gets HOT after playing music for a while.. I was thinking about picking up 4 computer fans but I am not sure if it is the best idea? what kind of options do I have when it comes to fans?? Computer fans were the ones that came up in my mind. I am definitely open to any inputs or opinions.. Criticize my plans if you have to.. I want the plan to be perfected before I start working on it.. Sorry about the long post, just wanted to have y'all filled in. Thanks in advance!

will 2 12" Xcons do good in 3.5 to 3.7 cu ft ported tuned at 32 hz? I am thinking about picking up the free enclosure offer along with order of 2 12s, but still undecided though.. -
Can you do leather wrapped? If so then would it come with the free enclosure if I buy subs? I am tempted to buy 2 12" Xcons

If you want a cheap built sub, go with the Omega. Now if you want quality, with great customer service go Xcon. what makes you say that omega is a cheap built sub? just curious I got a brand new 15" Omega lying in the basement of my home (I am in college so I shipped the sub to home) I am excited to get it up and running in no time.. It looks like a solid sub, so I am not too sure on how can you think that it is a cheap built sub ha? But now with the free enclosure offer by a guy here, I am tempted to pick up 2 12" Xcons if I can afford it.. -

can you post a price on all of your subwoofers so I can know how much I am looking at? -
thanks man! appreciate it! but got a question tho.. I m wondering if those measurements include the wood? Can you give me the cut out measurements, that would be helpful.. Also you suggest me to put a divider there to give some bracing/support.. But should I completely divide the box? what difference would it make if there is a divider or none?

Anyone? =(

Not mean to jack the thread, but I m curious if you think no-xplode is a good buy? I hit the gym regularly, I dont take any supplements as of now.. I have heard some good reviews about no-xplode, so I am curious.. Thanks

Since my second Q is getting here tomorrow, I thought why dont I start working on the box like tomorrow or Saturday since I have nothing better to do on those days.. So I was hoping that there is someone around here that is an expert at box designs and cutout measurements could help me on making a design and measurements then I'll build it... The box is going to be for 2 15 inch Fi Q's.. Ported.. I would like the subs firing upwards and port firing towards the hatch.. Also, I want it to be tuned at 32hz.. It will be going in my explorer.. so the max dimensions I got: Height: 16 1/2 inches Length: 41 1/2 inches Width: This wont matter, I got plenty of room, but would like to have as much cargo space as possible The port wont matter to me as long it doesnt look out of place or whatever.. I could work with PVC port.. I am going to use 3/4" MDF board and double baffle the side where the subs will be on.. Help would be very much appreciated, might try to work on getting some designs tonight and tomorrow then hopefully I can start the build on Saturday
