If you want any real help you must give us more information. What is your budget, what are your audio goals. There is a wealth of information on this forum, slow down, read the rules, ask good questions. -
The best steak I ever ate was a 28oz, hand trimmed, hand cut, aged porterhouse. I was happy to pay $42.

It's been my experience as a public educator that people can, and do indeed, fail harder. Indeed, holy fuck. http://www.soundsolu...__fromsearch__1 I almost felt bad jacking the thread to salmon, but I couldn't help myself. I cut the guy a little slack because he is from Columbia and English isn't his first language.

Not much, just packed my bags, and ate some smoked salmon. You? For the life of me I just don't understand why people like Salmon, I tried it dozens of times, but still...nothing. To the OP- Welcome! Have you ever tried smoked salmon? Regular cooked salmon I don't care for either, but smoked salmon is way better imo. I had smoked salmon in a seafood alfredo and it wasn't that bad, but I haven't tried it by itself. What would you eat with it? I buy a big pack at Costco. It's more for appetizers, or putting on crackers, but I just eat the whole pack like a dinner. I'm taking my wife on a Disney cruise to Alaska for our 20th anniversary, I will be sure to try smoked salmon then.

Happy Birthday, did you get any Stetsom amps as presents?
-
If you are getting an Fi 12" on 1200 watts plus, you will most definitely want to amp your front stage so it can at least try to keep up with your sub stage. You can keep it simple and buy a component set and run a single 2 channel amp.

I have some qustions
SS Teacher replied to richdecamelo's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Bass boost is generally a terrible idea. What you are asking the amplifier to do is double (+3db), triple (+6), or quadruple the amount of power to a specific frequency which often clips the ever-loving crap out of the signal and cause harm to the speaker. Professionals will NOT boost when setting EQs, they will cut the majority of frequencies and leave the ones they want "boosted" at normal level. Hope this layman's explanation helps. -
Difference between 1st and 2nd Generation Q woofers
SS Teacher replied to Ndnkobra's topic in Fi Products
I'm assuming the magnet is now able to handle more power along with other things. Magnets are what gives the speaker strength to control the voice coil and doesn't have too much to do with power handling. The diameter and cooling methods, as well as materials, of the voice coil are what really determines thermal power handling, while suspension parts like spiders contribute to mechanical power handling. www.bcae1.com has a wealth of basic information accessible to the lay-man, like me. There are plenty of people on this forum who could get so technical your eyes will roll back into your head and you start to drool, but they won't do that unless you ask! -
There is a fairly thurough review on wire on this forum. Have you tried the search function yet?

I was out for over a decade, the guys on this forum are awesome. I have yet to have a question unanswered or not thoroughly explained.

The vast majority of people on this forum will tell you that caps provide very little to no benifits at all. If you have a great front stage, you really don't need much (if any) rear stage. I drive a Challenger, not an SUV, but no one has ever complained it wasn't loud enough from the back seat.

I'm only running a component set up front and a sub in the trunk, so my needs were handled nicely by an Audio Control EQL. I got an open box from Crutchfield for $169, but I don't know what "cheap and good" means to you or what your system consists of.

I kept the stock radio in my Challenger and use an Audio Control LC2i. Made a huge difference compared to the passive LOC I first used. -

I would agree that getting two 18' Icons is "getting serious"! Welcome.

Suggest me a mids and highs amp?
SS Teacher replied to JPed2563.1's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Since Boston Acoustics dropped out of the mobile market the remaining stock has dropped way down in price. The retail of that GT125 was probably over $300. -

I'll vote for the Boston amp, I love mine. -
anybody familiar with this amp or brand?
SS Teacher replied to chainsaw's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I am so thankful I found this site. I was out of car audio for 10 years before coming back and so many of the best names in the business are now questionable or junk. I miss those days out of nostalgia, but good stuff is a lot cheaper these days, I remember paying over $450 for my PPI A404- it was 50 watts x 4 with no crossovers. -
If SSA drops Stetsom, can we expect "outrageous deals" on all Stetsom products? I'm still not sure I'd buy one.
-
S. DeYoung was awesome. It was my first purchase from any online classified, ever. Went way better than expected, look forward to future business.

Class D amps are smaller and more efficient which makes them good choices for a sub amp, BUT at 500 watts RMS you shouldn't notice any drag on your electrical, especially since you have had the big 3 done. I have really enjoyed and been impressed with my Boston amp, might want to try this...http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17785_Boston-Acoustics-GT-2125.html
