amp stopped working but shows no signs of failure?
Joe Chen replied to ncc74656's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Perhaps the amp is defective. Maybe that's why your sub blew out. -
Sounds like you're setting your gains too high or something. It should get warm when playing, but if it's hot to the point where you can't touch it.. something's wrong.

Did the guys at Fi re-evalutate the SP4 and change the RMS from 2500 to 3000 watts, or did they redesign it to increase RMS?

How come I've never thought of that... I'll see about it.
-
Well, that's out of my expertise, I'm just a novice box designer..
-
sweet and if you add 2 inches on the height ??? would that work ?? Then I'd have to compensate for the extra box volume, lol. I think it'll be fine, a little less won't make it terrible.
-
It should barely squeeze in, I checked.
-
I need more space to fit the subs on top. If you're willing to sacrifice some port area though... Top/Bottom: 43x30 Side 1: 19.5x28.5 Side 2: 19.5x29225 Back: 19.5x43 Front: 19.5x36.25 Port: 19.5x14.25 Sub Hole: From the midpoint on the right side, 4.75 up, 10 inches to the left, center for first sub, then go 9.5 down and 16 left for center of hole 2. It'll kinda be a tight fit for the subs.
-
No prob, so I can increase the depth then, right?
-
I don't know about the middle port, probably not enough space to fit the port in. I can barely squeeze 2 18s in with this box alone!
-
Got it. You don't mind if I make it longer? The subs will fit diagonally, as I'm designing it, but they wont fit unless I get it a bit wider..
-
I've got an idea.... why not just place the port on bottom of the backside. That'll let us place the subs nicely on top.
-
Double baffle? Edit: I honestly don't know if this is bad or just fine. But with the addition of the port, I managed to give your subs 5.5 cubes each, and your port is tuned to like 34 hz. If we add like 3 inches to your height, that'll solve the problem. How's this look?

from TOP to BOTTOM 21 inches and from SIDE to SIDE 43 inches and from FRONT to BACK 30 inches how many CUBIC FEET is that ??? 13 cu ft.
