TC Sounds TC10 OEM and passive radiator!!
rex_runner replied to rex_runner's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Thanks, but I just got my PR today actually . Kyle was actually the tech I talked to, but his recomendation was 1cuft? Humm... So you liked it in .6cuft? Did it get pretty loud? -
Alright, so I've been running a tcsounds tc10 in just a small sealed box for some time. Although this beefy lil thing sounds awesome sealed, I have been planning on doing a ported setup. Since passive radiators are the best way to "port" my sub, last week I finaly buckled down and picked up one of their matching passive radiators from their closeout sale so I could start my new enclosure. Now to my question.. For those of you who have this combo, what airspace are you working with, and how many washers are you using?? I've spoken with a tech who gave a recomendation, but I would like to hear from any of you to see what sounds best in your oppinons! Of course the sooner I get input, the sooner I can finish my new enclosure and get this lil guy bumpin ... sooo any help will be great! Thank you to all who can help.

I want to get one of these matching passives for my tc10. Do they really live up to their hype? If any of you guys by chance happen to have have one and are interested in selling, I would love to take it off your hands!

Soo pretty much, I've been wanting to do a more compact sub setup for quite some time, and since its spring time, I needed a nice little project to keep me busy! The design I came up with is pretty simple in concept... basically its going to be a fiberglass ported tube enclosure simular to a bazooka tube. I figured these enclosures can offer me a more compact enclosure than a big box, yet still be ported. Its going to be constucted using a 10" in diameter by 48"cardboard tube used for concrete molding (simular to a sono tube). I'd cut it to the length I need to give me my airspace, create an MDF baffel for the sub to mount on to, use a smaller tube to form the port. Then fiber glass everything. I've purchased all my materials I will need and am just awaiting a new sub to begin construction. My only concern I have with my design is the port... I duno exactly how I'ma calculate a semicircle port. If anyone could offer a suggestion or an idea on what I can do for that, it would be awesome! If this tube comes out great, then I might do a second tube for a dual setup. I'd push both tubes to the sides of my trunk, and fiberglass a kool lookin amp rack in the middle. This picture gives ya kinda an idea of what my setup might look like. I couldnt really get down all the curves for my amp rack, but it was only a quick sketch. Any suggestions/comments of my idea would be great... specially if its about the port! Thanks to all who can help! .

Well they said I could port it... just a matter of fitting the ports in the enclosure. Someone showed me this site. If I play around a bit, I might be able to make something like that... of course wouldnt be same materials, but itd still be nice. -

Alright soo I finaly bought my woofer. I ended going with one of tcsounds new TC-10s. And let me tell ya, this thing is impressive! 30lbs of wofferage thats 800watts RMS but is said to take 1000-1200 with just a smile! click hereif ya would like to see what it looks like. Anyways, with that aside... I AM A need to build my enclosure this weekend. Only thing is when I talked with a tech over at TCsounds he strongly recommended I do sealed instead of ported. He was telling me since these subs are designed to work in such small enclosure (about .5cuft) they sound amazing in sealed. As for ported, he said with such a small volume requirement I would have trouble fitting a port inside. He was like if you should do ported... go with like .6cuft and use a passive radiator. Im usualy a ported guy soo I dont know if I should just go sealed.. but then again I cant afford the PR now and from how he was talking, didnt seem like going old fasion ported is a good idea. Either way, I'm still going with a tube enclosure, but do you think I should just make it .5cuft and seal it off? Or try and make the ported tube enclosure work but instead of using the original semi circle huge port I was going to do outa an 8in tube, just go with a smaller 3in PVC pipe, and run it along the side and angle it in to the enclosure to get the port length I'd need? -

Hey I just ordered one one these little guys dual voice coil http://www.tcsounds.com/forums/index.php?s...c=1013&st=0 I haven't had to buy an amp in a long time and dont know whats the good budget amp for now adays. I've thought about the Alpine MRD-M1005, the Hifonics ZXi1006 and even the new Phoenix Gold RSd1200.1. Whats probably my best bet from those? They can all be found for around $300, which is the price I'd like to stay at. Any other recomendations would be awesome too. Thanks to all who can help -
Hey all! Im in the market for a beefy little 10" woofer that will get loud and sound good doing it too! I'm lookin for something that can offer me great sq as well as great spl. I listen to rap/hiphop, country, dance/techno and some rockish music. I also get into stuff like Dave Matthews Band as well... I'll be changing up from a ported 12in JLw6v2 so Its gota be able to give JL a run for its money and thensome. For those who will wonder, the reason I am going from a 12 to a 10 is because of space... I'ma be moving soon to a bigger city, so I want to do a more compact setup. I'm going custom build a ported fiberglass tube enclosure and a 10 will be perfect for my idea. Right now I only have a PG Xenon 600 watt mono amp, but I will sell and upgrade if its a goood idea to do so. For the sub itself, I looking to spend only about $250. I've posted on other forums and got back few suggestions... but I dont think I would want to go from a JL to kicker, or rockford fosgate... Some did recommend brands such as stereo integrity, sound splinter, fi car audio, sound solutions, treo, etc... Alot of those sub loook kick@ss, but honestly I havent heard of many of them (our town is biased towards rockford and mtx...). Then I found this site and from what I've seen soo far, it looks like you guys really know your stuff! Sooo I'm hoping you guys can give me some better suggestions on whats best to put my money on. Any suggetionons/ oppionions on a nice lil sub that will be sure to make me happy will be awesome! Thanks to all who can help.

I'ma probably power it with my 600watt phoenix gold for a bit till I can get a new amp... would be a little underpowered for a bit... but dont think it would be too bad? When I can get the money I will get a new amp. I've thought about the Alpine MRD-M1005, (about $309 on woofersetc) or the Hifonics ZXi1006 (same price). Any of you guys have an amp recomendation for the tc-10?
-
Oooo thanks! I wish I had enough money to buy two...soo for the time being I just got one . Now I gota eagerly wait. Think they will get those in to productions later on some time? Cuz if yes I might have to save up some more money and pick up a second later on some time.
-
Would you by any chance happen to know the cutout diameter and mouting depth for that sub?
-
I think I might have to go ahead and buy one of those monday haha. The specs seeem like it might be what I'm looking for.
-
Ooo damn right it is! Would that be something worth getting?? I had decided I wanted an fi q, but that almost makes me change my mind
-
Sooo how does FI compare to JL? Have any of you heard both subs that could tell me?
-
Yeah I'm thinkin I will go with a single sub. I've always wanted to get a single sub for that wow factor haha. Besides, it be nice to show up some of the guys here in town that spend hundreds of dollars on mediocre equipment from out local shop that tell them its "top of the line". I really like the FI subs. Now I just have to figure out which one I want, and find an amp to power it.
-
Whats the specs on that? And how much?
-
Oooo that sub is hottness as well haha. Soo I'ma be selling my amp along with my old system and I will now have about 550 to play with. I am still going to keep my budget the same for the sub because I will now have to get a new amp... but it gives me enough to play around with. Soo I've thought about a few different combos... I could do maybe one BM or RLi now along with an amp, and next paycheck buy a second. Or I could just go with a single FI Q, or BL and an amp. What would any of you guys do?
-
Hey whats up all! I've been checkin out this site for a couple days now and I like it! Sooo howdy to you all!

Hmm... aight. Since the port is longer than the box its self, I can continue with an "L" shape inside the main tube right? Kinda like this... ________________ | | | | ______________| | ________________| Also What formula did you use to calculate that? I would like to know so maybe if I need to change something later I can redo it my self... Also thanks for your help! No one else has been able to help me on any other forum. -

The sub I'm looking at requires about 1.2cuft. I'm not sure if they are including driver displacement so, with a 10.5in diameter tube it will need to be about 24" long. If it isnt including driver displacement, which is .11 cuft, then the tube would have to be about 26" in long. -

So now is that takin in consideration the port tube bein cut in half? Or is that if I just used an 8in in diameter port?
