There is not going to be an exact spot we could say your knob needs to be turned to to be at 80 . You can find the best spot it needs to be by listening. . . . With a ported enclosure you tune it where you want it. You do math to figure out the tuning. With the amp you can use equipment to figure out were to put it but its easyer to use your ears.
-
Probably should just do it by ear. Your the one listening to it so you will know when it sounds good to you. Even if you found exactly where 80 Hz is it mite not be right so I wouldn't just go by the numbers
-
Definately interested in what you find. I found that 6 cubes seemed to be best for the my 2 12's. I forgot what you ended up finding out? I am building new enclosure come spring hopefully. about 6.5 cubes with my last enclosure did pretty good.

I think I'm actually going to be trying and 8 inch port first
-
For 4 sa8v2's
-
Couple recent enclosure I have done

I would say tuned high, a lot of power and a lot of testing.. Are you just wanting "loud" or really competing?
-
Would be nice to find an xcon or zcon iv seen them for around 300 used. Just not to easy to come across.
-
Are you able have an enclosure designed and built for the new sub you get?
-
Had to replace the starter in the today. How long are they supposed to last? Just replaced it about a year ago
-
Do you guys think an 8" aero port would be enough port area for 2 12" zcons? They would be in about 6 cubic feet after displacements. On around 3500 rms. Tuned around 34hz. I want to go with a 10" port but an 8" would be a lot easier since I'm only going to have about 36" for the width. You think I should test it out and try or do you thinks its forsure not enough?
-
What all do I need to model my zcon for the new enclosure? About to start building and want to have the enclosure design as good as I can.
-
It's not really that, it's just that you can't be completely sure about the response unless you also take the cabin into consideration. I believe our car generally has a small peak in the low 40hz region Iv usually peaked right around 30-32 with most enclosures I have tryed. Even when i tuned enclosures different
-
Why is everyone thinking I'm trying to have someone design an enclosure for me. . . I'm trying to see if there is a way to see the frequency response and stuff like that with trying different size enclosures and port size and power.
-
go with the recommended enclosure spec from SSA. if you have you're limiting dimensions someone could probably design the box for you. I can design the enclosure. As in the cubic feet and tuning (port length) and figure cut sheet and build really good. . I just always see people talking about that you can see frequency response and port velocity and stuff like that. .... that's what I was trying to figure out
-
I got an idea of the design I'm going to try next. I'm just wantin to know how to see the frequency response and stuff like that
-
Im not just starting out in audio or something. I just have usually had other people design my enclosures and others enclosures I build because I don't have a computer. Yes they are not "starter" subs but I'm not starting out. Iv been running the zcon model since a little after they came out.
-
A flatter response. I'm not sure what you use to see the responses of enclosures
-
I have read the rules and know the info I need to put when posting a "help design" post. I'm meaning like what do you use (programs or what ever) like what shows an enclosure design will work better than others
-
O ok. Didn't know that. Ill try
-
For sure? Not a solid answer He is saying it could be either one. Depending on how you wire them
-
Wire the next 4 like you have the first 4. Then wire the 2 sets of 4 in series .... so take the negative from one set of 4 subs and connect it to the positive of the other set of 4 then wire the remaining Negative and positive to the amp

Well about to start the new enclosure this week Its going to be around 6 cubes tuned about 34 (going to most likely make it so ill be able to change tuning). Going to be using a 10" round port this time I'm thinking about 13" tall. 37" wide. And 32 deep. And 10" port close to 25-26" long (some of port will be out of the enclosure). Going to be using birch this time cause I'm really trying to cut down on weight

why do my lights still dim
frogcase2002 replied to Elton's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Iv had a 220 amp alt. 5 75 amp hour batts and 2 runs of 0 and when running even 1-2k rms I would sometimes have some dimming. Even when volts stay up -
Down where the port will be coming in is probably farther away from the seat than at the top
