Have you checked the ohm load of the subwoofer wire at the amp yet? -

I will take the sub out today and take some pictures. Hopefully that will clear this up.EDIT: Guys, typing on my phone takes too long. Ima go to my girlfriends and use her laptop so I can better respond. On the up and up, I bought a DMM. Just gotta figure out how to use it. It was on sale for like $12 too. Beast. Cool! Good deal. Hope you can get this figured out -

Thanks again, THX! That will come in handy as soon as I have the courage to open up the sub. xDIts not that hard. Just need to unscrew all the screws around the sub and take it out of the enclosure. And take some pictures of the sub and inside the enclosure if you can Why does he need to take the sub out of the box?Well if it reads 1 ohm outside of the box it could be a dual 2 ran to 1 or could be a dual 1 with only one coil hooked up or something like that. You never know lol. And with the sub out we will be able to see port length and how well the enclosure was even built -

enclosure design with kerfed port
frogcase2002 replied to frogcase2002's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
What about this? 30 wide 16 deep and 10 tall. Port 2x8.5 and around 32 or so long. Thinking it would be around 1.25 cubes tuned in the low 30s. Just was messing around on paper and came up with that. What do you guys think? -
Looking for someone to help me design an enclosure with a kerfed port. I have been trying out doing it on scrap wood in my garage for a while and wanting to try it out on one of my enclosures. I have someone wanting an enclosure built right now and figured it would be a good one to start with. Its for 2 sundown sa8v2's in a trunk . I was told there Going to be on 1-1500 rms. . .Max dimensions - 30 wide 10 tall and 16 deep. (Ill ask if any of the dimensions can get bigger) Wanting it subs facing up and port back. Tuned in the low 30s. 30-34. . . . . Listens to mostly rap music.

Your going to want to take the sub out and see how its wired and check the ohm load. . . . And figure out what converter is installed and where its at -

Is there an easy way to find out if they wired it correctly? I had forgotten about that. If it's not wired to 1ohm that'd be a problem. Also, is upgrading the converter expensive? If I'm missing some essential upgrades to a setup, I'd heavily consider getting them installed, but if my settings and setup are just messed up, I'd really like to see whats wrong. As you stated. And no, I don't have a dmm. Whats that? Thanks for the help, man. I'm not the best with this, as you can tell, but I'm trying to see whats going on! I've always wanted a nice impressive setup. A dmm is a digital multimeter. You can get them for like 20 bucks at walmart and lots of other places. Its a really good idea to have one When your into audio. It reads volts and ohms and other things depending on which one you get. . Mite not need to upgrade whatever converter you have they mite have just not set it right -

mite have to do with whatever converter they used. Or also could be how they wired it inside the enclosure. Maybe wired to 4 ohm instead of 1 ohm. Do you have a dmm (digital multimeter) . . You forsure should never be thinking there is not a sub back there having that sub and amp. I wouldn't think about upgrading yet. I would figure out what's wrong with your current setup first -
I have really been thinking about one of them 8k's on my zcons

Subwoofer enclosure material - MDF versus Plywood

Yea iv had a lot of successful builds using the birch they have at home depot and lowes. Could be a little better quality but iv never had problems with it and it seems a good amount lighter than mdf -

Thanks for the tip. Impact is good stuff. I took it to a shop and told the guy to build the box to 1.75 cubes. I'm thinking I maybe should have told him as big a box as he could build. The sub is a 10" running off a Sundown 1500 amp, not sure what you mean about bass boost because the only thing i'd consider boosting my bass would be setting my car bass EQ up a little higher. If I turn the bass knob down with the clipping light on it there's literally no bass. haha And I didn't set anything, I picked it up from the shop and they told me they set everything up for me and that it was good to go. I could take some more pics later and post them up if it'd help. yea take some pictures. And if you can take some measurements of the enclosure and port. Sometimes (most iv been to) shops don't really know to much lol -
I would work my way up. Your not going to want it anywhere near 300
