Please remember those that have made the ultimate sacrifice and those military members that are serving as we speak. I know there are a few fromer, active, reserve, and retired member on this forum. As a former Airman, I thank you all for what you do, have done and are doing. May god bless you all and your families.

I had a few Poly's do the same scrap noise. The cone was off-centered. Chad replaced them for me quick, but this was before this whole change in the company.

I was hoping there would be a bit more response to this thread. Where is the American pride?

How did I get these numbers? I simply e-mailed Second Skin and these were the numbers that were given to me. Yes, they are the exact same numbers as Vertex Barrier Pad. This was not a copy and paste job. That would not be cool. I was doing some research before I purchased anything and thought people should be informed. I didn't know that numbers like this could be a bit taboo.

Are these available? I know SSA doesn't sell anymore and now it's a dealer based. Sorry to bug, but people want to know. :drink40:

The project has begun. My first step is to make the car a bit quieter and eliminate some possible rattling and ambient noise for a future system and just plain comfort. Here's what I got so far. Supplies: 2 Rolls Raamat 45 sq.ft Vertex Barrier (will be here soon) Ensolite (will be here soon) I've installed the two rolls of Raamat in the cabin floor, back seat, and all four doors. I still have about a 1/4 roll left that I will use on the doors before I install the Ensolite. -Floorboard has two or three layers all around. You will notice that not every inch is covered in my install. There are several solid spots in the cabin of the car and I couldn't justify adding the BXT to those areas. -Front doors have at least two layers on the inner and outer panels. -Rear doors have one layer (some larger unsupported areas have 2 layers) in the inner and outer panels. The Vertex Barrier is coming in later this week. This will be installed on the floorboard and trunk floor. If any is left, I will use it on the outer panels of the front doors. - Ensolite will be used on front and rear doors. Here are some pics. Still have lots of work to do, but I think it's a good start. I did do some SPL measurements before installing any deadening material. I will try and post some numbers today of any change after installing Raamat BXT. I will once again do this after installing the Vertex Barrier and Ensolite to the floorboard and doors. For those of you wondering, I have not done anythng to the trunk yet. I will probably do this at a later date. I do not have an aftermarket system in the car. This will be going in this summer since I haven't decided which way to go with this build. I open to suggestions and comments for what I've done so far. Thanks, and more to come in the next week or so. :drink40:

It was around 1990 when I helped install two 15"inch subs (i believe they were Pyramid) in a Chevy Cavalier, and installing a 15" MTX in a Mustang hatch back. Both systems were running around 300-400 watts or so and were extremely loud for the time. As car audio has become more popular, I've seen the trend go to the bigger and loudest SPL system you can get (Is there really a 2-way system that can keep up with a 2000-4000 watts sub system and sound good, and not have to have 8 mids and 12 tweets?). The thought of thousands of watts in a system were unheard of. As Im getting older, the trend still keeps expanding. Now you have people installing a sub stage with thousands if not tens of thousands of watts with multiple subs and what not. My question is.....when will this peak or end. We have people hitting 160db in a vehicle and above now. Yes, this is a great accomplishment, but 5 years from now will people be going for 200db or so. What is the point of all of this? Is it to shake the chit out of your neighbor or actually to listen to music. I do understand that there are comps that are geared toward SPL and nothing else, but when will this stop or where will the trend go? Obviously this can not keep going on or can it. Will there be a day that a car hits 300db? I just wanted to post this to give a feeler as the to future of car audio. The reason I say "car audio" in general is because if you look at ANY forum, the majority of the threads are geared toward the Sub level. Example... What would be louder...how many subs...best box for the most DB..., Etc........ I personally can't stand it, but I'm interested in the trend. Can we have some comments about what the future might hold? I think it would be interesting. I think it would be best if we have some older people chime in on the "good old days" and go from there and also some manufactures.

Those sound really good. I can't wait. Thanks denim for giving the update.

Thanks, I just got my Vertex Barrier in today. I will be installing it this weekend. This will really help will the deadening of the cabin. I will also be ordering some Ultra Stage Mat soon to stuff up in the dash the further help with my noise "problem." Still not sure about speakers. I may go with an all SEAS system for components, but still not sure. Before anyone says anything, I will not spend the money for the EXEL line. I would rather spend it on my Home System.

I'm looking forward to what he's has to offer. This may be one of the reasons I haven't bought any speakers for my Altima project yet. Ya gotta love Zed. Hopefully he's working on an 8 channel amp to run a 4-way system with plenty of power, active capabilities, and only the size of a Gladius. Hahaha............ but seriously, wouldn't that be great.

My wife was not very happy, but she knows I'm a musician and I take my music seriously, so she let it slide. She told me it better sound good when your done.

Thanks. No Bose. I'm not sure as to what approach I'm going to take with the stereo. This will be an SQ set-up, active, and only have a sub or 2. I'm still not even sure about a H/U. I'm still concentrating on getting the cab of the car a bit quieter. I have some Vertex Barrier coming tomorrow that I will be lying on the floorboard and possibly in the front doors. After I install that, I will see what's next. Maybe more sound absorbtion. I'm done with the Raamat and don't wish to put anymore other than the trunk, but that can wait. The Altima has more engine noise than I'd like, so I may be tackling that next.

Not the bragging.

PLEASE Fix it soon. Many people need help, advice and bragging rights as we speak. I know I do.

You can probably angle the back part of the the enclosure 30 degrees or so. This would give you a bit more volume and you may not have to raise the back seat (which can be a pain in the butt), and cause a safety issue with the back support. -

Talked to a buddy of mine that's an engineer for GM and showed him some pics of the "cut out" of this vehicle. He said this could pose a major threat to the integrity of the vehicle. Lots of bumps and potholes in the road with the weight of the box over time could and probably will have the rear body of the vehicle buckle or misalign the body, making it impossible to align. He wasn't positive as this is the first he heard about this being done, but said there is a reason for having the support in the middle-rear of the car besides ride comfort, seat support, and handling. This is a major safety issue. Sorry to rain on your parade. Your stereo equipment is worth more than your car now. -
One more thing.... What would be best? Ensolite on the outer panel (panel closest to the outside), inner panel (behind the center panel. This way the inner enclosure is covered) or, Ensolite on the outer panel and inner-outer panel (side where the plastic panel attaches), or Should I do all three?

Did a preliminary run for the difference in SPL with the Raamat installed. Before- 68db avg. on the highway at 60-70mph (a-weighted) After- 65db avg. same speeds (c- weighted) 3db difference (enough for the ears to hear a difference) I'm not completely confident with the "after results," although I heard a slight difference. When I did the first read, it was the morning on a highway with a bit different make-up than the one I was traveling on this afternoon. Also, there was much more traffic because of the time of day. The results look promising, but I'm not really sure how much difference this will make. I will do a true side by side test tomorrow morning. On a final note, I should have done this with a c-weighted scale(maybe). This would have given me a bit wider freq. response. A-weight (500-10K) C-weight (250-10k) These are the specs on my Radio Shack SPL meter. Maybe I should go back and remove all the deadening and take the readings again. Hahahahaha!!!! No way Jose!

I tried to get some answers out of AA about the difference between the two materials and never received a response. What I know so far is that AA will offer mids in a carbon cone as opposed to the original Poly cones. Can someone give me a better feel as to how these speakers will sound compared to the two different materials. As far as I know, the two are built the same but the material for the cone are different. I'm really on my last string with AA. Don't get me wrong, I love what they have done in the past. AA has been more than kind to me. Chad has done some wonderful things for me in the past. Updates and news about new and improved products have been terrible. I'm sorry, but this seems to be bad business. Can we get a concrete answer about what is going on? I feel the wait is going to hinder the final result. The future of AA has gone down the drain in my opinion. As we all kinda know now, Fi will take over is some fashion or another. I just feel really cheated at the honesty of the future of this company and ALL the post that promise updated in "two weeks." is just a lie. Well...... it's been months for most of these updates (look at the AA threads about updates) Can we get an answer?
