I was in street B, and got 2nd place with a 140.5db run. Another guy from here "chapter 2" got 1st with 145.9db in street B. We were both running 15" BL, except his box was bigger than mines and he had a bigger amp... :-( Charles another guy on here took 3rd in street B with 137.6db with 2 12" SSDs. Charles man, BIGGER Box!!! I took 1st in bass race 130-139.9. Another guy on here Tom took 2nd with 152.2db in Super Street 5+, he lost to a guy that had 20 15" RF T1, thats not fair. Tom also took 1st in bass race...140-149.9....Tom did end up doing a 151 or so in bass race, that was not recorded. This all took place at USaudio, which Fi sponsored it by supplying trophy's for the event!!! Tom I'm still going to hold you up on that XXL t-shirt next time i see you! LOL All in all it was good day. Thanks Tom for all the good pointers and gaining me that extra 1.3db in bass race!!!!

Sorry I didn't know that you even existed there this weekend....hahahaa j/k Yeah it was good to meet you. Hopefully I'll see you out somewhere again. Carlisle isn't that far from you... I was planning on it for a while, but something family related came up for that weekend. I always attended carlisle shows for the longest time this will be the first year i wont make it. Except for the one year when they moved it to harrisburg farm show complex, i was like screw it im not going there!

Hey guys, After putting my 15" BL together in a 3.5cuft box, which sounds awesome, now I just have to fix my amp problems. Anyways, I have to build a box for a friend for her 15" Q. I suggested sealed since she wants to do more stuff in the trunk and I didn't want to take up the whole trunk like my box! We both have Scion tC. I was thinking a box for the 15" Q sealed with the exterior dimension of 12" high x 32" wide x 16" deep, with 3/4" wood. That will give an interior volume of 2.69cuft w/o sub displacement, so with the sub it is 2.5cuft. The sub will be powered by a Kicker sx1250.1 amp, that amp supposedly gives out 1250 watts at 1 ohm. So with that given setup, will she have a nice flat bass response, but can get low at the same time?

Corner loading?? PG county ehh, i'm in baltimore county, with a 15" BL!

Hey man thats a nice score. I'm running 1 15" also powered by a RF T10001BD, in a 3.5cuft after displacement box tuned to 33hz. I am having the need to get it metered...where in PA are you located at?? -
So Scott told me the dimensions to build this box all thanks to him, 3.5cuft after displacement tuned to 33Hz. On to the pics: Out with the old..... Lets compare box sixes.... Doesnt look like much lets check out the sub size difference.... Ahhhhhh finally wiggled it into the trunk of my car, with a little finesse...hahaha yeah right, 40" wide my ass, I had to struggle to put that box in, but once its in it fit like a glove... OOK First impressions LOUD, oh did I say LOUD??? The bass is let me punch you in the back of your head bass... With that 12" RE SX, I felt like it hit much lower, since the box was tuned to 32Hz, but I think its all in my mind right now. I guess I have to wait to let this sub get a little broken in first. Then I'm probably sure it will hit as low, if not lower. So the sub is dual 2ohm VC, powered by a RF T10001BD amp, birthsheet claimed 1506watts at 1ohm. With my old setup the sub was a dual 4, and that amp put out 1070watts at 2ohm. Sooooo I play the waiting game until the sub breaks in, and hopefully it will definitely kick my butt. But playing that Mariah Carey song, "shake it off" remix, more things are vibrating now!! Things are vibrating that I didn't know could! Now I have to wait to get metered....anyone in Baltimore have a TL mic????

...MDF? Void-free ply? I haven't used MDF for a while, I've use PB for a few boxes I made and I have never had a problem.
-
A good 6 inches or so...
-
Yeah I will carpet it soon. Its bad for the amp to sit up there like that? Its a temporary solution right now until I can find a 0 gauge wire terminal for the ground wire.
-
Thats funny because I am doing the same thing, moving from a 12" SX to a 15" FL but I am also powering it with a RF T10001BD amp.... Only other difference is that its going in a car not a truck! I would think that amp will do fine, or unless you would look at a 15" Q instead. Or if you have plans to upgrade the amp in the near future though...then go for the BL loaded.

I have the NEW Fi's sub, very rare, only one made ever!!&#

Anyone else have some insight on this? -
Check this out, a 12" and a 15" in one!!!! It can handle 50k watts!!! Ok fine its just a recone for my 12" RE SX sub. Thats all!! Well on a serious note For that 15" BL w/flatwind and full cooling.... I need someone to help me design a box. I have 40x17x17 to play with in my trunk. I would like to get it shorter than 17" if possible, and less than 40" wide if possible, even less than 17" deep!!! But that is the measurement is the biggest I can do in my trunk of my Scion tC. (HATCHBACK) I heard that sub facing upward will get louder??? Since its a hatchback? Port facing driver side tail light.....? I want to do a round port, 6" PVC pipe. Ok for the smarty pants!!! Help me out here, I can build a sealed box fine, but when it comes to ported I feel like a noobie all over again. Thanks guys

Gotcha, I was trying to stay away from the slotted port, that's why I mention a 6" PVC port instead. Yes it will be 3/4" MDF. Just wanted to stay away from slotted port so I don't have to do more cutting! I know it sounds lame. But I think the round port will look good though! So that 40x17x14, = external diameter right? So sub facing up and port towards the back sounds good then right? -
Ahh I'll chime in for Shawn.... You pay for what you want, then eventually you will recieve an email that your payment has been received. Give it a day or two and then you will receive an email from UPS, that is when your sub is starting its build. Since you ordered a Q, I think the build time is 2-4 days or something like that. So wait once again after the UPS email for tracking conformation....thing....and then how ever long it takes for ground shipping from NV, and it's yours!!!
-
not saying that customer service is bad.....it is good by all means. we all just have to have a little patiences.
-
I agree, I've email Scott plenty of time and he has managed to email me back not the same day obviously..... However I've PM'ed Shawn a few times and he's gotten back to me the same day.

I just got my new 15" BL sub with flatwind and full cooling... Question is, is it normal that the sub is that stiff? I mean, its very stuff, stiffer than my current sub (RE SX). Will it soften up when it gets broken in. Second, with that full cooling, there is no hole in the magnet for the cooling of the coil that way right? Cant wait til I get it in the car and feed it 1500watts!!!!!!!! Its gonna be bumpin... Edited with pics: (Camera phone pics...) When it warms up here, since in Baltimore it decided to be 35 degrees with snow on my car. Then I will build my box, most likely tomorrow since I can't wait to do it. Cold or not. I will post pics again of the build and a comparison of subs between this 15" BL and that 12" RE SX I have.
