$450 amp budget, which way would you go?
EPerez replied to Truconcept's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I should of said daily. It's really unnessary to run a daily system at .5 ohms. Running an amp at .5 ohms increases the current flow by a ton. It creates a lot of heat and can fry a system. It allows for more clipping, because it has more of an increase in voltage drop, IF electrical isn't adequate. You really don't get much more rms if you run an amp at .5 ohms compared to 1 ohm. It won't make a difference in output either. You can run an amp at .5 ohms, but there are people that don't recommend it for daily. I don't. -

Your right, but he shouldn't have the system running at .5 ohms. -

Ohh didn't realize that. It's going to be hard to get something with more power than those at 2 ohms and also be under 500. What's the rms rated for those subs? What's the box like? It's way easier to make your system louder by making a better box or trying different things with box than to add more power. It's also much cheaper. Edit: Those BRZ amps aren't that bad. I just hooked up my stepbro's kicker cvrs to the BRZ1200 yesterday. -
Lol yeah my bad man. I do still suggest trying the zcon only because it will cost you a sheet of wood, and might save you some money. If you don't like it sell the box on craigslist and make more than what you payed to build it. That is what I'd do at least. Don't stress it lol I'm thinking 1 Zcon for now and if I decide that I want the 2 12" X Series, then I will switch. They're not even out with an ETA, so I can't take those people's word for it that it'll be out within next two months. I'll try one first. I just made a box design in torres. It's already 15" shorter than the current box. 2.75 ft3 44 in2 port area Port 12.5" x 3.5" 30" long Tuned to 32 hz

Ehh they weren't perfect lol Next box I'm sure they will be just about perfect!

Great amp ^^^ -
Damn Rick you scared me haha I thought he changed it. Originally it was suppose to be 1k but then he did some tweaking and raised it to 1250 rms. With them being 1250 do you still think I should try 1 Zcon. Thanks jay-cee and Chicago fan for confirming it!! Sean ill let you know if I decide to sell one!
-
That would definitely help with weight and give me more room, but the 2 12 X series would be more cone area and around the same power. In theory that should get louder than single Zcon.

200 bucks. I had a wall box for 4 15s and just wanted it gone fast and got 100 within like first couple days on cl.

mids and highs amps
EPerez replied to needmobass's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
So you have 4 6" pwx for mids and 4 3 way 6x9s for highs? Where the hell do you have all that?? Lol I'd ditch all of those and go with a nice set of comps up front on the c1100.4 amp. I'm sure it would sound much better! Edit: this is for a dodge ram right? -
No not out yet! I've been reading around on other forums to find out as much about them. So I've heard they may be out by April/June. Their power handling is 1250 rms.
-
I'm already at 30 hz. Your right I could add polyfill. Another problem I have is all the weight. The Zcons are some heavy subs. I doubt that the smaller box would make a big difference. The X series are around 50 pounds lighter and then the smaller box will be much lighter.
-
No it isn't bad to be on the lower side, but doesn't it not you give you the most out of the system? I thought it was best to run a smaller box when you use more power and a larger box to compensate for the low power? It says 1.75 for the smallest box size. I can definitely try it, but I'm just trying to get some of your guy's thoughts.
-
Yea it might be a good thing haha You get to run it how it should!
-
Lol yea I wouldn't either. The box is around 5 cubes net. So 2.5 each. That's right at ported optimal that SSA suggests. I'm going to run low power, because of my electrical. I can't do a HO alt. If I go smaller than that just makes it worse, because I'd have a small box and low power for the subs. If I have the X series. The box will be perfect for them and they will be getting the rated power sundown suggests or more.
-
Haha yea but i'm already running on the lower side of power for them. I wanted to make a box around 3.5 Cubes at the biggest for the subs. The X series are suppose to be around the same box requirements as the SA and the SA series requires even smaller than that. Thats really small for the Zcons.

I've been thinking about selling these subs. These are beast subs and get loud as balls while sounding really good.. I don't even have big 3 all done yet and it gets suprisingly loud. By no means am I saying these are bad subs in my decision to switch. I've only had these subs in for about 3 weeks and I'm thinking about switching them. I have a few reasons that make me interested in switching: 1. I noticed my car is really starting to sag in the back from all the weight. The subs are very heavy haha 2. The box takes up my whole trunk!! This takes part in the weight issue. 3. The new sundown subs have a low Fs and doesn't that mean it will more easily play lower notes? correct me if i'm wrong please. 4. I feel like I'm not going to give the subs the power they want. The new Sundown subs are really catching my eyes. They look sexxyyy!! I know Sundown subs like smaller boxes which is a big reason why I am really considering these two subs. I'm looking more towards the X series though. I think with my electrical, the power would match up perfect with the new x series! From my reasons, do you guys think it would be a good idea to switch? I'm going to save some money and also save a lot of space.

It sucks, some assholes don't care about people's packages and just throw things like a garbage guy. Then the company doesn't really do anything or they make it very difficult to get anything done.
-
I lost all my pics I didn't upload to my computer from switching my phone. I'll retake some probably tomorrow. I have to repaint the front part around the subs, because the flush baffle wasn't cut to size. I messed up cutting, so I had to take a razor blade and cut it. It looks kinda shitty now.

That's what you gotta wait if you want a US made, hand built sub
-
He is going for more for sound quality. A btl isn't really a sq sub. It sounds good but other sq could be had for less. 3500 watts isn't sq at all, op just wants a sub that doesn't sound like ass. any of the suggestions would work, assuming the box is built correctly and the install isn't terribleYea true. That's why I suggested it at 2 ohms with something like the Xcon.

I would do a dual 1 ohm Xcon and run it at 2 ohms on that amp. It'd be more efficient than 1 ohm and will provide plenty of power for the Xcon. You don't need 3500 rms.

I'm pretty sure the recone doesn't include a basket. That would be extra. Sucks to hear about that man!!! Hope he did put insurance and you get everything worked out!!
