Just went to cabelas and looked at a few different AR-15s I really liked the feel of it. The 2 guys helping me told me a lot about them. I loved the windham weaponry one. I first want to go to the gun store and shoot it first before I buy.

A 50BMG will not feet through a .223 receiver. Don't confuse the OP. There are more than a few companies that build .50 BMG uppers for AR-15's. Ohh hell yea it would be a lot cheaper but I guess that you can say that. I wouldn't be shooting that much. Only at my dads occasionally. That's the beauty of the AR-15. One .22 LR upper for plinking, one .223 upper for varmints, one 300 BLK upper for larger critters, etc. Just takes a couple of pins. How much does a larger caliber upper cost? Like usually?

I'm not dead set on anything. I'm going to cabelas tomorrow morning to look up a bunch of differnent types of guns.

No I already did it and have been shooting since I was 9 with all types of guns. I meant like appreciate the gun for itself not the accessories . Ill check out both of those options too thanks man!

Ill look into the 243 when I go to cabelas tomorrow morning. I don't want a bunch of accessories on it at first. I want to use the rifle with no bit scopes or anything first and appreciate the rifle first learning to shoot it first. Then I will add accessories later.

No the AR-15 I'm talking about uses a .223/5.56mm. I'm not sure exactly how but you can change the upper(I think) to something else and it can use different caliber rounds right? Well it's like buying a v8 mustang instead of a v6. You don't need the bigger motor but it's nice to have it though right?

So yea I thought it could of been modified somehow to make it accept different calibers. That's why I put it in the off topic section. If you have nothing to add can you please just stay out of this thread. Thank you. So really any AR-15 will be good in quality? I think that's what I read.

I heard a lot of people don't use .223 with deer since it's not as powerful for dropping a deer as other calibers. That's why I would go up in caliber. I would use my shotgun first though.

Not where I live what? Shoot deer with it as a .308? I know that i would go up north where it's legal. That's only if I do feel the need to go deer hunting with an AR.
