Haha the guy kept telling them they shouldn't get that, but they don't ever listen.

Ok so I just finished the box! Birch was much easier to work with than mdf. Also it feels a lot lighter too. This box is 5 cubes tuned to 31hz with 80in2 of port area. On to the pics

I ended up buying the HD birch hardwood. I just completed the box and it is wayyyyyyyyyy easier to work with than mdf. Picking up the box I can tell it is A LOT lighter than what the box would feel like if it was mdf. I think from now on I will be using this type of wood. Also the guy at mdf was saying that he thinks the birch would be stronger than mdf. He was also told me some people always come in and get particle board. He says they're a shop or something because its a few guys who have custom shirts on haha he keeps telling them particle board is shit for sub boxes! Go figure it's an audio shop haha

You won't hear a difference in output. I'd keep what you have unless you are getting a deal on it and can sell the crescendo for more than what you paid for the DD. otherwise it's not worth it in my eyes.

Did the warden get a rms rating increase? Yes it did. The new Warden is rated at 3500 watts rms.Awesome! I loved my warden when I had it last year. Got crazy loud and sounded good! 21" was a wow factor haha

Whatever happened with this?? -
Look on c a c o .com too. I always see a lot of subs for sale there.

Welcome!!! Your lucky to be close to big Jon! He knows his shit The ssa xcons are beast subs. They sound amazing and get crazy loud. I have 1 12 and people can't believe it's just one 12 haha still surprises me every time I hear it too. I will have my other 12 installed in a few weeks.

Sealed box reccomendation for JBL W12GTi MKII
EPerez replied to BigPun1982's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
The recommended enclosure size for the 12 sealed is 1 cube. From my understanding of sealed boxes, the bigger the sealed box the better the lows will be. I think it's because the fs is lowered? Not sure if that's what it is. So if you want it to play lower better than go with a bigger box. I'd say around 1.3-1.5 cubes. -
H/O alt or batteries?
EPerez replied to Budah93's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Alt first! This way your stock alt wouldn't struggle to charge the batt bank. Do you have second batt right now? -
Yea it does need more port area. When I first designed my box for the dual xcons I thought I was only gonna be able to do a certain amount of port area. I made it so this box was like half of the dual box. i wanted to see howbit would perform. it still sounds good but i know it cab be a lot better. no need to build another box since the other 12 will be ready in a couple weeks. But now I found out I can get a lot more room, so I can have more port area with the dual 12 box.

Since I'm front firing sub/port I made some side panels to block the cabin from the trunk

So here are the pics I have for the 1 12" Xcon. Sexy as hell Installed in box. Made a false floor so everything would slide around Not going to make everything look that good since it will be removed within a month.

WTB: 1200 to 1500 wrms @ 1 ohm mono block amp

My friend has a audiopipe ap1500. PM me if interested. -
The response of larger subs being slower than smaller subs is a myth. The response has to do with the box. Both get loud and sound amazing, but I am a little bias with me owning a Xcon.
-
My cuts are longer than the 2" x 2" though
-
It is physically impossible. Plywood is a laminant. The center ply could have a void the size of a dinner plate and you would never know until you cut it into. I guess ill have to buy it and try it.
-
Ohh I know that. So you can most of the time see how good it is from just looking at it. Thanks guys.
-
How can I spot voids? What do they look like?
-
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna try that stuff. I've been texting frogcase2002 and he's used the HD birch or whatever it is and he says it works good too.
-
Just wanted to see what people are running with these since I might be getting in the future. I'm pretty sure you are going to want more port area though. I would say 6".
