The installation is more important than speaker choice.
-
Just because your amp puts out X amount of power doesn't mean it does it 24/7. Adjust the gain and listen for distress of the speakers.

2 4" is for like a single 10" sub.
-
Definitely not enough port area. I would do (2) 6" aeros min but try a 10"

Haha boobie and yea blue lettering. It's the first version one. I was just wondering if I could put a me dust cap on it cus this one is all dented. Anyone want the Zcon 12 tho? I can pick it up and ship it if anyone's interested?
-
I saw on CL with a guy with only a dented in dust cap for $75. He said that's all that's wrong. It's a first version icon. I would love to have it. Can I get a new dust cap for it?
-
Yea it says SSA and icon underneath it. It's the convex dust cap. Jus wondering if I can use the new icon dust caps so it doesn't look ugly. Dude also has a ssa Zcon 12 for 250. Hmm lol

Hey man I know exactly how you feel. Me and my mom just found my great grandma today. She passed away in her sleep. Right now I'm doing everything I can to keep my mind off of it but it's hard. You have my prayers.

Ethos dual 12 enclosure 39w x 16h x 19.75d

If port need be in the middle, to achieve the same tuning the box volume will go down compared to port being on side. -
My friend needed an amp so I posted up a wtb thread for an amp. He posted in it saying he had an arc ks1200 amp for sale. He told me all the info I needed about the amp and linked a link for me to read more. We talked about it and I was ready to buy it for my friend who supposedly had the money, but the deal for his system didn't go through. I told Ryan that he didn't have the money when I told him I would pay. He was polite and said that's fine. Well this kinda happened another time. I apologize. It was my dumbass friend who kept saying he would have the money, but he would never get it. My friend said he would have the money by X day and I pm'ed Ryan asking if the amp was still available and that my friend would have it that day. I'm sure he believed me this time lol Well the day after X I had the money IN MY HAND ready to buy. I sent the money through paypal and he said he would ship it out. He had a problem at work and couldn't ship it out that day. He apologized and said it would be shipped out the next day. He kept his word and shipped it out the next day. Totally fine with me, because I know shit happens. He sent a tracking number as soon as he could. FedEx had some delays with the weather here in the Midwest and the amp took like 2 days longer, but that was ok. His shipping was excellent. He had everything like it came from the manufacturer and then wrapped with a box. He folded the box around the arc audio box which pretty much double boxed it. He taped up the thing really good too. I'm overall extremely happy dealing with Ryan throughout this whole buy. It made things very easy for me and his patience for me was a plus If Ryan has anything for sale don't worry AT ALL about the buy, because he's a good honest guy.

So I keep getting told that an active front stage can be and usually is better than a passive component setup. Now, doing the front stage is very new to me. I've really only done a co-axial set powered by a 2 channel amp. I'm going to need some help with speaker selection and ways/tricks to make sure everything is installed/tuned correctly. To put a number on a budget, I would say $400. That number is just what I have set aside for the front stage currently. Sound deadening is not included with that budget. This is going into a 2014 Fusion. I don't want to cut any holes in panels and I can't fiberglass so stock locations will be used. Which is a 6.5 and tweeter. I will be making custom mdf mounts for the 6.5 (and tweeter if needed). I'm keeping stock head unit and using an audio control lc2i. Not sure on what amp yet, but I'm thinking of using the miniDSP. Good choice? Sitting in the driver seat the tweeter is about 2 ft. from my head at chest level. The 6.5 mid is about 2.5 ft. from me at mid leg calf level. Imagine both speakers were facing towards the doors perpendicular from where I look. So side to side. The tweeter is on a ~30 degree angle towards me an the 6.5 is on a ~10 degree angle towards me. Does that make sense??? The next pic is of the locations. Speaker locations. Here is the inside of the door panel. (Looks exactly the same on passenger door too) Stock 6.5 mid. The bitch that'll limit my depth. Stock 6.5 mid width. Stock 6.5 mid height. It's about 2.75" deep. (I CAN USE ABOUT 4" TOTAL FOR DEPTH. MAYBE A LITTLE BIT MORE) Stock tweeter location. Stock tweeter diameter. Diameter of the tweeter housing is about 1.5" and the actual tweeter is about 1". Stock tweeter depth. It's about 1.25" for housing and .5" for the actual tweeter. Not to sure what else to add. If anymore info is needed just let me know.

Problem is I don't have time to research, test, research, test and test some more. I'm always on a right schedule.

sounds great! no reason to jump in over your head. if you have a home stereo or computer speaker set up it might be fun to pick up a 2x4 minidps unit and play around with the software and tuning. i think this would be a great way to learn before trying to do it in a car. I'll keep that in mind thanks man!

Way over my budget.

I'm not sure if I will be going active now. Too me it seems like too much work in a way. I have limited time to a lot of things now since college is my top priority now. I appreciate you guys making me realize I would be over my head if I jumped right into doing active now. I'll go with a set of components and when summer comes maybe I'll have time and understand more about this to change over to active. Thanks guys.

Wow this is a long sale! I convinced a friend to get an Xcon for his jeep. He is begging me to get one for him when I built a box and sold an Xcon to his brother lol He is getting his tax money soon and I'll be getting him one! This sale is gonna help him out too

I was more curious on it's output capabilities. Is it going to be a louder sub like the magnetar or more towards the ethos or even towards the primo?
-
Which way would be on axis?
-
Sounds like it's good but yea curious on what makes it better lol
-
I never had a goal to go active but to just be as loud vocally as the ethos. I just thought active would be the better way for me to go now but I didn't realize all the work that went into it.
