Yes, I'm good with tools. My dad has all the tools needed too. So I had to change my dimesions around a bit. New dimensions are: 14h (might go 14.25 but ill have to check on that) 35w at least 28d with the depth I want to go back and measure to see if I can go back more that way I still have room left for amp rack that I want to do. I'll get back to you in the morning on the depth measurement.

Your subs have an outer diameter of ~25"+ combined plus a 10" round port = too close to your max dimension, and you don't have enough depth to make it long enough. Why are you stuck on using a round port? I'm not. I just thought I would get more volume out of using aeros. So should I jus go with what you showed before?
-
How about a 10" without being flared? That leads to my next question. How much of a difference is there between flared and unflared?
-
Yes so what would that be "equal" to in terms of slot port area? Also how come you don't think I could fit it on the face??
-
Wouldnt a single 8 inch aero be more port area than your slot port design and mine? yours has 81 in2 while the 8" aero has 100.48 in2. Correct me if i'm wrong but don't you multiply the port area by 2 when dealing with aeros. That way you can compare it to slot ports. Aeros only need half the port area as slots right?

Let me go out to my car and see how much more I can get. I wanted to build an amp rack behind box but ill get some more depth possibly.

Sorry i didn't specify. How much volume do I have with current dimensions and how much volume do you think I should be at for my application?
-
You are kind of on the small side as far as space is concerned. If I were you I would probably just use dowel bracing to reduce the amount of volume that it takes up. How much do you think i have currently with my max dimensions? and how much do you think I should have?
-
i wanted to 45 all sides. I really didn't know how much it would take up, so I put more than what it would be just to be on the safe side.
-
Yes...What are your max dimensions? My max dimensions are 15h x 35w x 28d.

Thanks!

for either of them?

I think I'm going to go with the zcons. I plan on keeping the next subs I buy for quite a while so if I get the zcons, I can aalways had power later on which will prevent me from buying new subs. Thanks to everyone who has put their input in and helped!

Hey everyone! So my dad leased out a new 2012 Fusion Sport and has had it for about 3 months now. We were talkin about selling my trailblazer and i just take over the lease! He's a great salesmans at Hines Park Ford in New Hudson/Milford, Michigan and he can get a demo that the dealership will pay for. Also if you want a ford go to him lol. I'm pretty lucky because im only 18 and i'm gettin a 2012! Love my parents!! I have not yet measured out the trunk yet but it looks fairly large. The size of the box I can fit will determine if I will choose 2 15s or 2 12s. I dont want to squeeze 2 15s in the trunk if it wont be optimal. I plan to have subs and port facing forward sealed off. Also box will be built by me and will be custom designed most likely by Buck. He's done all of my designs for me and friends. For my electrical, it is completely stock right now. I will be getting a H/O alt, doing big 3 in 0ga, and installing a second batt in the back. I do have a deka 9a31 for my second batt but i want to sell and get a xs d3100. My equipment consists of 2 Crescendo BC2ks and 1 Kicker zx1000 (i absolutley love these amps!!!!!!!!!). The nendos will be for subs strapped together and zx1000 will be for mids and highs. So the big decision for me is the sub stage. I have heard nothing but good things from the SSA line and I really want to try them out. I have heard that the SSA subs dont need the rated power to sound good and get loud. But I'm not sure how much rms i can put to the subs with the H/O alt and d3100, i'm thinkin around 3k rms? Willl that be enough for a pair of Zcons or would that be more optimal for the Xcons. Also what other subs are around the same level as these that can be compared?? My budget is undetermined as of right now because i have to sell my trailblazer and figure out how much money i will have total to spend on subs. But if i dont have enough i will buy used or 1 and save for other. I most likely am missing some info lol so if you have any other questions or need more info PLEASE ask. Thanks alot to everyone!!

Yes sir! I'm only 10 mins away from howell.

I like pioneer, I have one right now in my trailblazer and it works great. Ohh and today I measured out the trunk and 2 15s wont be able to fit properly so I'm going wit 2 12s. Too bad the 15s wouldn't fit :/
-
I wonder if I will need that? Shud I see how it will sound without it first?
-
Ohh really? How expensive is that item?
-
Ok I'll look into them. Thanks man!
-
I dont know, I'd have to look at it to see if it would. Anyways I really don't have the money tobspend on such a thing. Usually the good ones start around atleast400
-
well congratulations on the win and i will be waiting for the build log of that awesome build!!
-
3 18s in that lil thangg? haha
-
Niceee man!! good luck with the whole build. what vehicle is it going in? i didnt see it anywhere..

Not trying to thread jack but are the coaxials and components the same thing but the components have the tweeter off of the midbass driver so you can mount it where you want? that and so you can set the crossovers differently than the already set coaxials? is that the only difference?

Are you about to make a thread asking about box design? READ THIS FIRS
