    Havoc 12

I have a modded mojo 2500D on the way and I'm very interested in these subs. On paper they seem to be exactly what I want. If I get two the amp will be ran @ 0.5ohm with somewhere around 1700w per sub. I can only afford one for now so I will probably run it at 4 ohm. Could a single Havoc handle 3kw if I wired it at 1ohm? On a side note, I see alot of vented boxes with the port at one end and the sub(s) at the other end. I usually place the port between the subs in a dual sub setup. Is there any gain from porting at the end of a box?

    Fi Q vs. CVX

I personally think the CVX's could be a tad louder than the Q's, but IMHO the slight increase in SPL is not worth the loss of SQ. The Q's will sound alot better than the CVX's.
  4. Awesome install. Great job Steve.

    2 Fi BTL18 Installed

I've had the BTLs in my Blazer for about 3 days and all I can say is wow. Considering that they are classified as SPL subs, they have great transient response. They can keep up with the classic and alternative rock while being ungodly loud on rap/hip hop. They hit the lows with more authority than my Solo X18 which surprised me. Each sub is powered by its own Concept CD-2410. Great subs. Kudos go out to the Fi crew. For Tejcurrent: Overall compared to the Solo X, they are louder, cleaner, and go lower. (unless you give the solo X 5000-6000w) They also play just a bit more of the higher freqs. The BTL is a better sub for the money. Enough said. This is the first wall I've built, seen, or heard in my area. It is ~12.5 cubic feet tuned @ 34hz. It has a double baffle and plenty of 2x4 bracing. I was really anxious to hear how it sounded. I had heard they didn't hit the lows very well. I guess that hearsay was wrong. I just wish I had a camera during the build. http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w150/kd.../Myspace009.jpg http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w150/kd.../Myspace007.jpg http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w150/kd.../Myspace010.jpg BTW this install is not completed. I still have to install the contour pieces and seal off the wall, not to mention finding somewhere to mount the amps. I'll post some new pics later this week once I have everything situated. i

    15'' BTL vs. 18'' BTL

I've got 2 BTL18's in a Blazer. They have a little over 6 cubes apiece and they hit looooow. It really surprised me how low they could go with only 6 cubes. And they're tuned at 34hz. You would probably be fine with 5 cubes if that is all the room you can spare. But with an SUV that size, go with the 18's. 2 18's have about as much cone area as 3 15's.

    Whoa

Just hooked up my first BTL 18. I'm impressed. I've ran the Solo X for two years and couldn't believe how close to being as loud as it this sub is. BTW it only has half the power the solo had. 2nd BTL will be in Thursday. Then i'll finish the wall. I'll give a full review this weekend. Great job on the sub Fi crew.

Subwoofers facing upwards or towards the rear end

Ohhh yeah. Definitely face the rear if it's sealed.

    Whoa

Nah. Two is enough for me. For now. I'll give a full review this weekend of the BTL's compared against the SoloX. Currently to the ear it sounds almost as loud as the Solo. The BTL has a punchier sound and plays a bit more of the higher frequencies. It hits just as low and it hasn't even broken in yet. That's just a few things I noticed with about 10 min of play time. More to come in a few days.

Subwoofers facing upwards or towards the rear end

Toward the rear in an SUV. If your doing a ported enclosure you can face the subs up and port toward the rear.

    Which Combination?

x3 on the Q12 ported. Should be exactly what you're looking for.

The fully loaded BL would easily hadle 1500w, but I think that the JBL 1201 would be fine. Giving it an extra 300w wouldn't give you much of an output difference. Someone else may be able to elaborate on this.

    Neeed a 10" beeefy sub!

I would stick with the single sub setup. I've always preferred a single "good" sub vs. two "lesser" subs. BTW, I'm not saying that the RL-i or BM are bad by any means, just that they may not have the output potential of some of the others listed. And I also just prefer the additional wow factor of having a single sub setup. I would suggest the FI Q.

    Post your Audio Setup!!!

currently...check sig 2 FI BTL 18's are currently ordered. I plan on using the same amps for awhile until I get enough $$$ to get something else (2 RF T2000 or similar). Install will be a 12cu. ft. net wall @ 33hz. I'd like to go bigger but right now I want to keep my backseat.

    FI sign in newbies too

My first 18" BTL should be here Sat. or Mon. I've got to wait another week or so until I can find someone to take the Solo X18 off my hands to get the other BTL. I'll eventually have 2 BTL18's in a 13 cu. ft. wall @ 33hz powered by 2 Concept CD-2410's. The box is finished. Just need to put it in, cut the trim pieces to give it that molded look, and seal it off. I wish I had a camera so I could post a build log. Oh well.

    Kenny and Fi

No problem. I cut the top, bottom, and double baffle today. Wish I had a camera to take some pics. I'll try to get ahold of one in the near future.

Good luck with the Blazer. I'm starting a wall behind the rear seats in my Blazer today. 2 FI BTL 18's with a Concept CD-2410 on each. I can get about 14.3 cubes before displacement and 12 after. One BTL is on the way. I've got to get rid of this Solo before I can get the other 18.

    Port Position

I was told by another person that when you port forward it increases the amount of air you feel moving around you, vs a setup with port towards the rear which would have less air velocity by the time it turned a 180 of the rear glass and back toward the front. Somewhat like a fan blowing on you from behind. But anyway, air velocity has no bearing on the question I'm asking. I just kind of threw that topic in there didn't I? Thanks for the info Tommy. I didn't think about it raising the peak frequency. Maybe someone more experienced with a wall will check out this thread.

    Port Position

I've decided to do a wall in my Blazer for 2 FI BTL 18's. They will be powered by a Concept 2410 on each. My question is for those experienced with walls. Is there a loss of deep bass by porting toward the front vs. toward the back hatch? I'm really just wanting to know what will happen as I have never tried a wall before. I'm sure that there will be an increase in air movement inside the vehicle. Thanks for your help. Kevin

    Port Position

Let me clarify. I've never done a wall before. All my other setups have had a box just below seat level ported toward the rear. I was wondering what kind of difference in response and SPL (in general) a wall with port facing forward would have compared to the other listed setup. Sorry for the confusion.
