Line Driver
Captain Kev replied to Captain Kev's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
9volts. I'm looking at the PG line driver. It has 8 volt outputs. -
Do you have 2.1^3 total to work with or will that be after the displacement of the port? Also, what is your desired tuning frequency? If you add a port to that box it will be too small unless you do it externally. You could put in a 4" Aeroport, but it would still be right at minimum size. If you are trying to do some street beating the BL would be your choice. What type of music do you listen to?

Can't remember, is this in a dorm, apartment or house? That shall be a dorm. But every now and then I would take it over to my friends house for parties too. They have this nice big long living room, 50" flat screen, and absolutely no tunes Beware, moving your gear for parties is a serious pain in the ass. Been there, done that. It is a pain, but it is usually well worth the effort.

Correct. You shouldn't need more than one battery in the rear to keep up with the current draw.
-
That's a heaaaaaaaap of wood.......Good luck with the build. I'll be interested in seeing the results.
-
Just decide if you want more SQ (Havoc) or more SPL (BTL). I wouldn't run each BL on 2500W. That's a bit much for them. The BTL's would handle it fine. They are decently musical for being an SPL sub.
-
I disagree. Those amps are fine....for the money. They aren't the cleanest and don't quite put out RMS ratings, but it's hard to find big power any cheaper. I liked the Hifonics amps that I used.
-
Agreed with M5. 2 12" loaded BL's ported should outperform 3 12" Q's sealed in SPL.
-
You should be fine with that airspace. You will lose a little punch but the lows will be extended. It depends on the music you listen to as to whether you will like it or not. Polyfill will not reduce airspace. Use solid wood. IE put a divider somewhere so that it can be removed later on if you want the full 3 cubes back.

One 2500D will be enough to power the Havoc's nicely. As far as an alternator goes, a 200 amp would be sufficient. http://www.excessiveamperage.com/ That's a good company. I bought mine from them 2 years ago and have had no problems.

If you don't mind spending the money, go with the HDC3's. Like stated before you don't see many installs using them.
-
x2 If you don't have room for the 18", get the single 15" BL. Still will be impressive.
-
Check out AA's website. http://www.ascendantaudio.net/ The recommended enclosure volumes are listed for each sub. 1.2-2.5 ported for the Havoc 12. 1.2 looks to be a little small. I wouldn't do anything less than 1.8

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bassy It really is a word. Anyway, the SSD or BL line will be good for you. Now just decide how much power you can get and then we can tell you which sub option would be better suited for that amount of power.
-
If you got the money, do what bigjon said and you won't be disappointed.
-
The BL's are not BTL's. That is clearly stated on the website. I have no idea if FI sells more Q's than BL's. Call them and ask. We want to help you out, but you're trying our patience.
-
The Q's have great sound quality. The BL's get a little louder but don't sound quite as good.
-
I will again say 2 SSD 15's. If you are going to use a true 1500W to each sub, then get the BL's. If you want to save some money, get the SSD's and one good 1500W amp. Such as a Sundown, Kicker ZX, or something along those lines. It will be plenty loud for you. Heck try it with your Boss amp. Most people wouldn't touch one but it may be all you need/want. If YOU think it sounds good, then who cares what anyone else thinks. This is not meant to offend anyone on this forum, this is simply IMHO.
-
I'll let someone alse chime in on the amp. I would recommend a couple SSD 15's for subs. You have plenty of room to fit a big ported box back there. Get about 1500w on them and hold on.
-
Need a little bit more info. What kind of music do you listen to? How much space do you have for the box? Most importantly, how much do you want to spend?
-
I would also like to see some T/S specs if possible. I'm thinking about getting one of these. pioneerpimp- Sorry about the BTL's. I traded them to ultimateaudio1 on SD for his modded mojo 2500D. UPS destroyed one during shipping (broke the top of the wooden crate in half and 2 of the 2x4 supports were ripped out), but I did get a claim approved for him.
-
Well.....the 18's are gone. I've decided to go with a smaller setup. The next one will be powered by a modded Mojo 2500D. Due to money constraints and my interest in saving space it will be a single sub setup. My question is whether I should go with a 12" or 15" BTL. Either one will be ported. I listen to mostly rock now with a little rap every now and then. I'm trying to go for a good LSQ design. I know the 15" would be louder but I'm still thinking of how neat it would be to have single little 12". I haven't owned a 12 in years. So basically I need someone to talk me into one of those setups.
-
Are these subs musical or are they only for burping? What other sub could you compare them to in SQ?
-
Get what SPL Blazer said. DO NOT get the extreme leads unless you are doing strictly SPL competition. As stated in the BL enclosures thread under FI Technical, the extreme lead can result in tinsel slap that can rub a hole in the cone.
