MEHMOUDH'S BTL 12'' BUILD LOG! OH! OH!!
gone_blow_it_up replied to gone_blow_it_up's topic in General Fi
Thanks! And yes, the ttb design is really great. I had asked for a 50/50 sq and spl design and its exactly what i got. Although many think the BTL is only about SPL, it truly has some great sound quality as well. The box sounds awesome! -
Hello There. I don't know if you all remember me, however I had started a log a while back for my subwoofer...and was wondering if I could make another here. Or would I have to make it in the "logs" section of the sound solutions forum? The reason I want to post it here is because I have taken some really great high-quality pictures of the full install and I think more people would find it here.

10 USD Dollars?!?! For all thatt?? That means the amp was like....3 bucks right? Or did I read too fast.

Thankks for approval. Build log and pics are up. Should be on page two of this forum.

Hello again Shawn! Dude, the headunit I was talking about...the DEH-9800bt...is the only HU I've seen where it recognizes it every time. I get in my car, and without touching anything..my phone goes beep...and bam...Bluetooth connected. I swear this headunit is beautiful. -

Thanks buddy, and yes current/previous customers, who have experience with our equipment can also answer many many subjective questions, and experience related questions. And alot of times, if a question is posted in the forum and a member can answer it, it can be before we ever even see the question, which helps out the person asking the question dramatically, b/c they get the answer much quicker. Thanks for the help Gone. PS. Gone, I know I should know this, but what is your name, so I dont have to keep calling you gone! I would be proud to help any Fi customer out whenever I can. And my real name is Mehrad. Haha it might be a little hard to get down. -
sony's new bluetooth enabled headunit
gone_blow_it_up replied to mrray13's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Ahh!! I may be too late! But i just installed one of these in my friends car a while back. I hope its not too late cause I can literaly tell you anything you need to know about it. First off, the knob is amazing. It's really easy to use and unlike my Pioneer deh-9800bt (also bluetooth enabled), you can change the volume of the headunit with ease. (Pioneer's take forever imo). Second, the BLUETOOTH SUCKS!!! Don't get it for the bluetooth. For one thing, the mic is in the headunit, its not seperate. It still sounds fine but theres some other cons to it. For one thing, you have to connect the phone every time you get in the car (from what my friend has said and he has had it for a while now.) That's a big big no-no. I mean ppl don't have time to get their headunit to first find the phone and then have to take another 30 seconds to connect with it. Anyways from what I have seen the Bluetooth suckkkkkss!!!! If your okay with the picture, then it is otherwise an okay HU. It's not too great of a headunit for the whole BT problem...But if you're cool wiht connecting t then it shoudl be nice. If you don't have to have Sony...I would really recommend the Pioneer DEH-9800bt. It's the headunit that I currently use and have fallen in love with. The picture quality is the best I have ever seen in any headunit yet, and not only that but it comes with a nifty software where you can upload your own pics to the headunit bg. The thing has so many eq settings, as well as any other settings you would ever need to change. It's pretty hawt, and can be found for around 300 bucks now BNIB. Hope I helped? -
best enclosure tpe for a honda accord
gone_blow_it_up replied to platnum accord's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
Well I don't know if anybody has posted this yet...But I think if you went with just one good 12'' sub you would be off to a better start. Because if you think about it, you may be on a budget now, but if later you got some more money in your hands, you would already have One nice sub, so you could put the money towards another of the good subs, which would give you two good subs. But if you spent the $400 dollars on two subs, then odds are you aren't going to like the setup later on, and you'll have to replace both subs with something better. Which would mean you kinda would be wasting the money for those subs. Right? But then again, if you're more into the competing and such, then obviously two subs would be better. And yes, 1600 watts provided for two subs in a nice box would be able to give you a 140. BTW are you doing a wall? Or are you talking 140 at port? I have a 02 Honda Civic, and I made a t-line enclosure for myself with a blueprint from Team Toxic Bass. It really sounds great, and all I really need to emphasize is that the only way you would be able to get close to 140 db is by making a good enclosure for the subs. Good Luck man! -

Great idea Shawn. I'm sure one of us customers here can help out with those kinds of questions. I wish there was a way we could help out even more. I really feel for you guys. -
Dude that's great. I can't wait till you get that sub in. It's gonna sound amazing as usual! Pics/Vids when you get it!
-
I'd go for the BTL. This sub just keeps getting better and better the more I listen to it. I haven't listened to the XXX before, but as a daily driver customer of the BTL, I wouldn't be able to recommend anything but!

MEHMOUDH'S BTL 12'' BUILD LOG! OH! OH!!

Ahh it makes me so glad to see people are liking my stuff. As for the port...It really doesn't make a differnce of what you use...just try to save your self the hassle and don't use a brush or anything to apply the paint. I myself used spray pain and it has come out fine. Fortunately with spraypaint, you can really apply all the hard-to-reach areas by simply spraying it in all the areas of the port. I would do this before you carpet and give it an hour or two to dry, using any color you would like. I've heard painting the port give you some extra db's as well! Good luck bro. -

LOL!! Well he coullllllld just sign it with the silver sharpies! But now that we all know about it, Scott wouldn't ever have time to sign the subs of the next 44234 emails he gets by people wanting the same done to their's! Hhaha you should have just secretly emailed him bud! -
Great review my friend. I'm also thinking of installing some blue neons under the tire wells. Looks clean matching with your headunit. By theres a Chopped and Screwed version of Grippin Grain which has more bass...You might want to check it out. Keep it Bangin' bro!

Thanks man! The RF amp owns allll!!! I really like the clash of RF and FI, because together they really make a mean combination. I'm getting comments from people asking me how my glass hasn't broken yet! It's louuuud!! Haha not to mention the electrical being ALL STOCK. See guys? Fi's subs don't even require humongous alternators after alll. -

Then the ish got mounnnnnnted. I found a clever way of hiding part of the ugly bracket, which was by making a small notch in the carpet of the trunk, so I could put part of the bracket under the carpet, and the other half attach to the box. This way, the dumb thiefs could be stupid enough to not even notice that theres brackets there. Maybe. Heres some pics of the brackets and such. Holy shiatsu this camera rules. LOL so yeah I didn -

Then the !Xio-bileh went inside its home. God, finally. Alllll the wiring got hidden/installed inside. Kicker Hyperflex ftw, muhfuh. That stuff is amazing as hell. And now I know why flexibility matters so much. Then the 150-pound piece of wood and metal met its home. It was so god damn heavvvy. -

So after the wiring finally made it in my hands, I sanded the box down like a muuug, and carpetted it with some good ol' AutoZone carpeting. I still haven't glued down the port side carpet, but heres what it looked like after the carpetting. (By the way AutoZone not having enough carpet in each package = FTL.) I then moved to the amp "rack." I figured the smartest, best-looking location for mounting the amp would be behind the rear car seats. But since the amp freaking weighs 32678560 pounds, I needed to find a way to reinforce the seats. So I unzipped the babe, and stuck some good ol' BTL-packaged plywood up her essho. I simply placed the wood on the foamage, and welded some thin strips of metal on the side-metal thingies. The wood won
